Aiden is obsessed with old-timey songs and will sing 'would i lie to you baby' at 1 am
Aru would say he already did, tell him to shut up, and go promptly back to sleep
152.
When Rayla says her parents, Ezran imagines a mom and a dad, or maybe mom and a mom, or a dad and a dad. He imagines they're people that look like her and sound like her, people who share her sense of humour and took care of Zym when he was an egg at the Storm Spire. He imagines people he would like.
He does not imagine that one of them is the elf that killed his father.
The thought by itself makes him mad. King Harrow was a good king, a just king, and a loving dad who was only doing his best. He didn't have to be assassinated. He didn't have to die. He shouldn't have died, and yeah, his dad did bad things too, but he recognised that, didn't he? His last letter to him and Callum told them that they were free, that they didn't have to continue on this stupid path and this stupid war, that their decisions were theirs and theirs alone. Rayla was fifteen when it all happened, still a child by most standards, raised to be an assassin and sent on a mission to kill him, and she still made the decision not to for a chance at peace. Runaan knew about the egg, they showed it to him and everything, and he still—
Ezran scowls.
It's a whole mess. It gives him feelings he doesn't want and anger he doesn't know what to do with. Rayla keeps the coins with her at all times, and there are moments he just wants to toss them into the ocean or melt them down into something else but how can he do that without hurting her? Without causing her the same pain Runaan caused him?
And when Callum had offered to help—
Ez doesn't like thinking about it. He'd been so angry. He said things he shouldn't have. He and Callum fought like they've never fought before, and at the end of it all...
He's sitting at the edge of a boardwalk now, feet dangling over the edge, the leather of his boots dark with water as he skims his toes over the surface of the sea. He's never hated someone like this before. He's never felt rage or sadness or grief so big.
"You okay?"
Ez sniffles and doesn't look up, even as Rayla drops into the spot next to him and leans her elbows on her knees.
"Fine," he mutters. "What—um—what's up?"
Rayla pauses, her lips pursed, her eyes searching and sad. She was there. She saw the fight. Ez feels like he should apologize but there's a part of him that doesn't want to. Why should he? Is it so wrong for him to hate the elf that killed his dad?
"You don't have to be fine," she says at last. "I know there isn't... really much I can say. Runaan... was like a dad to me but—"
"Don't excuse him," he snaps. His throat hurts. He curls his hands into fists. "Don't."
"I wasn't going to."
"Weren't you?" Ez scowls at her, his anger getting the better of him, growing bigger than he can control. "But what? But it wasn't his fault? But he was just following orders? You had the same orders and you didn't follow through. You were fifteen! You could have lost your hand! What the hell was his excuse?"
"Ezran..."
"Don't Ezran me! He killed my dad! And you and Callum want—" He stops. He swallows. He's crying again, he thinks, but he doesn't care. "I don't care that he was like a dad to you," he snarls. "He killed mine! He killed mine knowing that he didn't have to! And he gets to come out of the coin? He gets to live and my dad doesn't?"
"I'm sorry, Ez—"
"Stop it! Don't act like that means anything! Sorry's not going to bring him back!"
Rayla says nothing to that. She fiddles with her fingers, head bowed, her hair over her eyes, and in the pause, Ezran sees it—the shake in her shoulders, the tears on her cheeks. His anger falters. He hadn't meant—
"I'm sorry," he mutters at last, but Rayla shakes her head.
"You're allowed to be angry," she says. "You're right to be. Sometimes being angry is part of the grief." She sniffles. "I don't blame you for not wanting us to do it. I wouldn't want to, if I were you."
"But you're still going to."
Rayla doesn't answer.
Ezran looks away. The silence between them hurts, but he leans against her anyway, not because it's okay, but because she's basically his sister, and grief and anger and big feelings are easier when they're shared. Her arm curls around his back, a promise that she's there for him no matter what happens, no matter what he feels, and they sit together, and cry together, until it feels like there's nothing left.
"I wish things were different," whispers Rayla.
Ez sniffles. "Yeah," he mutters. "Me too."
9 5 people you’d like to know better
I completely forgot about this one but found it in my likes… It’s been weeks… I have no excuse. Either way, this is cute so thank you for tagging me, @haasegawa!!!
Last song: Electric Touch by Taylor Swift ft Fall Out Boy (I apologize to any of my followers who are not Swifties… No I’m not actually). It’s such a good song!! Like, it just slaps okay!! Also I totally relate it to my newest OC ship and it’s *chef’s kiss*!
Currently watching: I’m watching Vampire Diaries for the very first time after refusing for years. I yielded, ugh. It’s not as bad as I thought, but Elena is so annoying and the love triangle, who cares? I’m only here for Caroline and Klaus tbh.
At the same time, I’m watching Oshi No Ko and… It’s so good? I did not expect it to take a dark turn (I knew the beginning was a bit dark but I did not expect the ending of episode 1) so I’m really excited to see where this goes!
Currently reading: I just finished a book today but I didn’t really like it so I still have to decide what to read next. I’ve been in a massive reading slump this year because I’ve read a few books I didn’t like and it’s hard to get out of that slump (also I’ve been distracted by the brainrot that is anime, especially a certain one with two daddies) I’m probably going to read some silly little romcom next, maybe Happy Place by Emily Henry? It’s either that or I’ll start Vol.4 of Spy x Family.
Current obsession: *stares at camera like I’m on The Office* I think everyone who follows me already knows this one… ❤️💙
I’m going to tag a few of my mutuals, but don’t feel obligated to do this, guys!! It’s just a bit of fun and I think it’d be cool to get to know you all a bit more! :)
thx for the tag!
Last song: The Spiderman 2099 theme from atsv, but if that doesn’t count then Sua Cara by Major Lazer ft Anita
Currently watching: Ninjago Dragons Rising, Assassination Classroom, and I just finished Miraculous Ladybug season 5, 10 minutes ago.
Currently reading: Magnus Chase and the ship of the dead. After procrastinating it for months, I’ve finally started.
Current obsession: Nimona. ever since i finished it, the only thing on my mind has been ballister and his big cow eyes
Tags: @sleep-can-wait +anyone else who wants to do this [no pressure]

for the Pandavas sisters (including Kara): order them from how good they can hold to their drink to them getting drunk after a good hard sip.
p.s. also tell me what happen once they get fully intoxicated
- Kara gets literally the cutest drink in the bar (Like a pink starburst cocktail or something)
- At first no one bats an eye because all she does is act goofier and more laid back than usual.
- But then the Shah genes kick in when she drinks more and starts acting even more chaotic than Aru when she's sober.
- She casually drops disturbing facts about her childhood like it's nothing and laughs about it like the most Gen Z kid in the bar.
- "yOu ShOuLd'Ve SeEn My DaD's FaCe WhEn I tOlD hIm I wAnTeD tO bE a LiBrArIaN! i ThOuGhT hE wOuLd LiTeRaLlY kIlL mE! XD"
- "hEy, Aiby-baby!" "Please don't call him that." "hOw AbOuT I sHoW yOu WhAt YoU mIsSeD oUt On!" *Rips her shirt off* "KARA NO-" *Reveals a shirt that says "Sleeper Spelling Bee Champ of 2005"* "YOU COULDA HAD ALL OF THIS BRAIN POWER, BABE!"
- Hira doesn't really drink but she took one shot of whiskey to keep up. Unfortunately, she's a lightweight and immediately starts roasting everybody.
- "yOu ThInK yOu'Re So ToUgH?!? mY gIrLfRiEnD wIlL lItErAlLy SmAcK yOu WiTh YoUr OwN sPiNe!" "Hira, stop yelling at the dartboard!" "YO MAMA LOOKS LIKE A CANDY CANE, YOU FLAT CIRCLE!"
- Nikita didn't care about the cost, she was determined to get the deluxe strawberry champagne. If only she didn't get totally wasted after one glass
- You'd expect her fashion critiques to be on overdrive and they were...the problem is they were towards herself because now her self-esteem sunk like an anchor
- "wHaT wAs I tHiNkInG wEaRiNg ThIs ToP?!?" "Nikki, you made that blouse AND sold multiple of them for thousands of bucks." "SO I'M UGLY AND I'M RIPPING PEOPLE OFF?!?"
- Ok, I lied. Sheela got an even cuter drink than Kara with all kinds of fruity decorations and tiny umbrellas. It looked more like a parfait than a drink, but it had alcohol nonetheless.
- She immediately passes out to the point where everyone thinks she's dead but she's literally just jumping from one person's head to another and everyone's wondering why they're suddenly daydreaming about having tea parties with this chick.
- Aru took Aiden off designated driver duty and so he starts going at the drinks so he can finally get revenge.
- Unfortunately, the man's surprisingly a heavyweight and almost beats Brynne's record. When she finds out, she's not sure if she's mad or impressed.
- "I hAvE a HaReM..." "Not exactly, Wifey-" "Shhshhshh, LeT mE eXpLaIn! I hAvE a HaReM, wHiCh I gOt AfTeR i DiEd. My LiFe iS aN ISEKAI!" "...Don't do this. I swear, you'll make me get you drunk more often if you keep this up." "yOu KnOw, ArU, wHeNeVeR yOu QuEsTiOn SoMeOnE, yOu ShOuLd SaY 'ARU SHAH ABOUT THAT?!?'" "BARTENDER, ANOTHER ONE OVER HERE!"
- Also, his Apsara powers get out of hand and he proceeds to dominate the karaoke show and suddenly has a bunch of girls flock to him. Aru's about to figure out whether she should electrocute him or them when he screams into the mike "THAT'S MY PAST LIFE HUSBAND! HIII, ARU!" and runs into her for a hug tackle before passing out.
- Then the others are on hangover cleanup. Everyone's a mess in the morning and when Aiden says "This can't possibly get any worse." Aru goes "ARU SHAH ABOUT THAT???" and shows them everything she recorded on her phone. They then puked even harder...

"You jealous, wifey?"
Aiden Acharya tried his best to like people, and to not judge them.
And yet, he was finding it extremely difficult to not despise the boy who stood some meters away from him.
With his girlfriend.
His jaw clenched as he saw the boy smile flirtatiously at Aru, running a hand through his blonde locks as he leaned against the locker.
"Stupid blonde prick," Aiden grumbled under his breath, making the girl next to him turn and stare at him.
Deciding he had had enough, he closed his locker with a bang, channeling all his anger on the poor door.
Taking long, determined strides, he reached over to where Aru stood, snaking an arm around her waist with practiced ease and giving her a soft kiss on the forehead.
Her sweet, citrus smell invaded his senses, and he stared, enchanted, at her glowing face.
He could see why boys were enamored with her.
"Aiden," Aru greeted with a smile, squeezing back his arm. "This is Caden. From my drama club? He's staring in this year's play with me."
Aiden smiled through gritted teeth, trying to glare at Caden with his eyes. Back off, or you'll regret it.
"Hi, dude," he gave him that annoying jock smirk again. Aiden had the sudden urge to punch him.
"So, Shah," Caden turned towards her. "What do you say, do you want to catch a coffee with me tomorrow?"
Oh, now he had done it.
Whatever anger Aiden had been holding in came seeping out, and he clenched his fists as he felt jealousy creep in his chest.
"Sorry, dude," he forced out amidst his anger. "But in case you did not notice, she's with me."
And with that, he put an arm around her shoulder, turned around, and marched ahead, triumph ringing in his head at the sight of Caden's dumbfounded face.
"What was that, Aiden?" Aru whispered furiously as they exited the corridors, glaring up at him.
Aiden crossed his arms against his chest. "He was flirting with you."
"Oh," Aru said suddenly, a grin creeping on his face as Aiden blushed indignantly.
What did she find so funny about this?
"You're not jealous, are you, wifey?" She sang, placing her palms on his chest.
Looking away, Aiden replied. "What? Of course not." The tips of his years burnt hotly at this lie.
"Oh, you are so jealous."
"Am not."
"Am too."
"Shah!"
Ain’t no way is that Andie from fricking Liv and Maddie?
THAT'S WHERE I KNOW HER FROM
Something Has Changed This Time
Slight TW: it explores a few serious topics such as suicide and death, is heavily angsty, and contains a few curse words. You have been warned.
---
One year left. She wondered how she would go out this time. Perhaps getting stabbed? Hanged? Stuck in a crossfire? She’d done it all.
For three thousand years, Aru had been alive. Every generation for the past centuries she would restart her life at the age of seven and see it till the end of her seventeenth birthday when she would die a brutal death and the process would then repeat.
She was always invisible to all but herself until the day she passed, then she’d become a star for a few days until her case was dismissed. Then she’d quietly creep into another family as if she had always existed there for seven years. And Aru was exhausted.
She had tried to take her own life, but then she would go into painful comas that lasted until her fateful birthday or be saved by someone who thought themselves a hero when in reality they were doing her no favors. All the world was against her.
Slowly her hand spun the spoon that made the coffee it was dipped in become a vortex of brown. It was pretty here, with its windchimes and large windows that persuaded more sunbeams than needed to enter. They called this place a ‘cafe’. What a stupid name, she thought.
People dotted the room reading novels, perhaps with the motive to seem naturally aesthetic. What idiots they all looked like, holding aloft their books with an imperious look etched on their faces as they pretended to read words they didn’t actually understand while putting on an air of grace and poise. One man was reading an economics textbook with his expression saying he was in the middle of a heart-wrenching romance scene. Another was leafing through a comedy while gasping as if someone had been killed. A hysterical giggle passed through Aru’s lips. Murdered. Being accused of murder. What did it all matter?
The best feature of this tiny shop was perhaps the flowers. Placed here and there and staining pastel colors into the monotone background. There were none in the dungeon, she thought absentmindedly.
Just then a waiter dropped a glass cup near Aru, and a few shards flew her way, trying to embed themselves in her leg but only managing to scrape the surface instead. Red pooled from the scratches and slowly rolled down her skin.
It hurt, she thought distantly. Everything hurt so fucking much.
“I’m sorry! Damn it, I messed up. Are you alright, it must be painful? Shit, I’m so sorry!” She looked up at the blabbering waiter and startled. Him. She could never, would never, forget how he looked, how he smelled, how he touched. Would never forget those eyes.
Her second life. The one she had loved most in this cruel place. The one who had told her he loved her back. The one who had ended his own life to protect hers. Her sixteenth life. Her two-thousandth life. The list went on.
“Aiden?” He looked up.
Besides the second time she was reincarnated, she never talked to him. So why now…?
“How did you know?” And for the first time in years, she let her tears drop. Aiden panicked.
“Oh no please don’t cry I’m really sorry I was being a stupid clumsy jerk I’m sorry-!!” He too looked close to breaking down with her.
“No, no, I just- just had a really bad day. I… heard a customer say your name, that’s all.” She squeezed his shoulder comfortingly.
“Oh, ok. That- that’s good. I mean not good!” He rubbed furiously at her eyes, and she remembered how they used to comfort each other like this. Bawling their eyes out and the other too would start crying because they thought they were the one who messed up. Not the world.
It was him, Aru knew. She would always know, even in death. And she knew she couldn’t mess up his second chance at life. Not again.
Remember, it’s me against the world.
“No,” He would say whenever she said that. “It’s you and me against the world. Remember that.”
“I’d better get going.” She got up swiftly, placing a few shards gently into his palm and telling him to not hurt himself, before hurrying out the door.
“Wait!” He called out desperately, pleadingly. She should have cut him off, leaving only the splayed string behind. Instead, she called out:
“Arundhati Shah,” Then left. He understood. He always did.
But something had changed this time.

Let me know if you want an explanation of the entire plot, though it won't be the actual story.

I just opened up a check in the mail, went to the ATM & found 20$ 😭 I’m not passing these shits up NO more on my mama!
Even if I do not receive money or good news, I did smile at seeing this smiling Buddha.

He’s wholesome, so why wouldn’t I share this with people?
I have something I want to check, but the answer may scare me. Alright, here it goes:
Please reblog, though I'm pretty sure it's gonna be pretty conclusive regardless of sample size.

Aiden never let Aru go after NoI. Change my mind, I dare you
He’s not losing her again
ahahahhahahahahahahahahhaha @the-princess-fangirl and @loife1m thanks for the one shot prompt
After the final battle, after discussions and reunions and funerals.
It finally sank in.
The nightmares, the trauma, a PTSD of sorts.
Anxiety.
He wasn't sleeping anymore. At first, Aiden just wasn't tired. Nidra had him nice and rested for a good two weeks.
But then, Nidra kept him awake.
What he saw when he had escaped the land of the waking-
It was beyond anything he wanted to relive.
If Aiden went back to sleep, would he ever wake up?
It started to wear on him, the sleeplessness, the sweaty anxiety of even getting close to his bed, his brain screaming for an out.
It went on like this for a month before one day, he snapped at Aru.
"Gods, Shah, do you have to be so extra all the time?" He spat out.
Aru whipped her head at him, a 'how dare you' look crossing her face. "Aiden Acharya, I'm going to give you one chance to rethink that sentence before I walk out of here." Immediately, his heart rate spiked, seeing stars in his vision and his throat closing up. She's gonna leave you-
"No, please," he said hurriedly, sounding strangled. "Don't leave- I'm so sorry, I-" He took a giant shuddering breath. Here we go again, his brain sang, a mocking song to bolster his anxiety further.
Aru was by his side in seconds, dropping all anger and taking hold of his shoulders. "Wifey? What's going on? Hey, no-" she wiped his face- it was wet- he'd started crying- oh dear- and she searched his eyes, worry clear in her frown. "Can I hug you?" She asked. Aru was trying to make it very clear- in his state of distress, he was in control- nothing would happen without his consent. Aiden nodded in response, feeling Aru wrap her arms around his waist and letting his head bury into her shoulder.
They didn't talk for what felt forever, and the silence, the contact, it calmed him down. She was not leaving, he could feel the sentiment in every stubborn fiber of her being.
"Sorry." He said abruptly, pulling his head up. "For yelling at you. I didn't mean to- I'm just really tired."
Aru nodded solemnly. "Exhaustion makes us act badly. Thank you for apologizing. However, I'm more worried about the fact that you're so tired." And ready to have a mental breakdown at any moment, Aiden thought. She didn't say it, but it was there, in the air, unspoken.
"I haven't been sleeping since Nidra," he said numbly. "And not cause of the saved up sleep I had- that's gone now. I'm just." His hands shook and he shut his eyes tightly. "I never want to feel like I won't wake up again." He exhaled, reaching for hands and giving them a squeeze. "I'm scared, Shah."
Aru said nothing for a moment, then, "I didn't sleep for weeks after the Sleeper took me." Aiden looked at her quizzically. "My brain kept telling me, 'if you go to sleep, you leave yourself vulnerable.' And I believed that for a long time." Aru smiled sadly, thinking back to those tremulous times. "I mean, I got over it. Eventually. But it was so rough- and definitely not as bad as what you're going through right now. Because if that was bad, then this is definitely worse, because, Aiden, you died." She looked him directly in the eye, her own looking glassy. "Nidra took you."
"Yeah," he whispered. Sometimes, he couldn't believe it himself.
"I needed someone. And I promised myself in the unlikely event that something similar happened to me or someone else, that I would get help." She squeezed his hands now, comforting and warm. "I can help you, definitely, but maybe you should go see an Otherworld therapist?" When he hesitated to respond, she quickly added, "not that you have to decided right now- it's just an option."
"Ok," he said, curling into her. Aru placed the laptop and notebooks on the ground, making more room on the bed as he closed his eyes. "I'll think about it."
"Alright," she said, leaning into him.
Before he fell into the first of many more hard-fought peaceful sleeps, his brain pleaded,
Don't let go.
To which a small, hopeful flame in him responded,
She won't.
