This was the entire statement... wow they're not even hiding it anymore.
just got a weak-ass non-reponse from one of my senators in response to the pathetic pleading our stupid fucking system forces me to have to do to stop our tax dollars from being used to murder 10,000 civilians (and counting) so out of spite here's a handy tip for folks in the us who keep getting told to call their reps and hate the phone:
when it comes to contacting your representatives, emails are better than nothing and phone calls answered by a person do have an effect, but another hard-to-ignore way to send a message is to send a letter that politicians and their staffers have to physically handle in order to address and physically dispose of in order to ignore its contents—or, just as good as a letter, a good old-fashioned fax
i've been using faxzero.com. it has pages that link to pre-populated forms to directly fax your senators, congressional representatives, and governors. you can send five faxes a day for free, and if enough people do that our representatives' offices could be filled with an obnoxious volume of paper faxes begging them to stop funding mass murder
i know a lot of leftists have mixed feelings on contacting representatives at best. personally, i hate it and usually find it a humiliating waste of political energy better spent elsewhere. however, getting politicians onboard is the fastest way to get the bombings to stop and any indignity is worth enduring if it stops the slaughter still going on as i write this. and for real, it's easy and occasionally a little cathartic. so, please, for the sake of the millions still left in gaza, flood your shitty senator's office until they can't ignore us anymore
the more I think about “house prices can only go up” the more it seems like some sort of fairy tale curse
homeowners think they're getting rich but they're just condemning their kids to wage slavery, government thinks they're getting an easy source of tax revenues but they're just tanking productivity growth and setting themselves up for a budget crisis when the market turns, the finance industry thinks they're getting an endlessly expanding asset class they can distil into pure profit and uh well they are but that's not a good thing, and nobody can afford a goddamn house!
I don't think anyone appreciates how funny Pope Franics actually is. Imagine being elected to the head of an over the top bad guy organization that would make you the final boss of a jrpg, and you spend your entire time there sitting around and saying things like "maybe we should reconsider our 'people dying is good' policy. I'm not saying we should reverse the 'people dying is good' policy, it's been our policy for thousands of years after all, but maybe we should, oh I don't know. Reconsider it." And every time you do so it causes half of a major world religion to get so pissed off that it almost causes a religious schism
i'm sure it will hit the news soon but today brandeis university had several students arrested at a peaceful protest based solely on the insistence that shouting "from the river to the sea, palestine will be free" + mentioning the word intifada is hate speech. our president is prioritizing short-term funding from wealthy israelis + wealthy supporters of israel by condoning a genocide + suppressing free speech on campus, even as IDF soldiers give talks to our student body. our chapter of sjp was suspended due to unsubstantiated accusations that it "supports hamas" after a palestinian student who has lost her entire family in this atrocity tried to organize a vigil for the lost. there is a huge contingent of the student body, including the entire anthropology grad department, who supports a liberated palestine + we have been threatened, condescended to, + censored in order to give off the impression that the university "stands with israel".
tikkun olam means palestinian liberation. never again means never again.
scully: the victim's prostate appears to have been drained dry
mulder: *throws file on desk* ever heard of the pegging alien
mulder, hobbling into the office: Scully you're not gonna believe this
as a man on HRT thats approaching his thirties im on my knees begging you other trans and queer folk to stop treating hair thinning and baldness like its some sort of final nail in the coffin on someone’s youth and scale of attractiveness and to stop insisting people see their doctor if someone starts experiencing hair loss and they didnt ask for help!
Like to be extremely honest, the way that some people treat balding like you’re suddenly losing your identity or something… as someone that has experimented with my hair since my tweens, with funky haircuts and crazy hair colors, it just shows a real lack of creativity to treat the potential of baldness as something to mourn is really boring and concerning.
Think of all the new real estate for potential tattoos. Think of all the wigs you can much more comfortably wear, either for cosplay or for everyday use. Want to have short punk hair one day or long, flowy hair the next? Thats possible. But also, think of all the cool hats you can adorn your head with to look like the coolest hipster dilf in your neighborhood. Think of all the crazy cool earrings you can try on with a smooth head to bring contrast. Think about how cool and esteemed or tough and rugged you’ll look for those that are able to grow a nice mustache or beard. Think of the curious joy you can bring to young kids or babies that have never felt a smooth or stubbly head before.
Idk. I just think the queer community in general has a huge problem with glorifying youth and thick-scalped sexy “tasteful” androgyny, when that androgyny and sexiness can take so many different forms beyond 22 yo twunks and soft butches. You arent going to be young forever, we’re all going to get wrinkly and die one day, so you better come to terms with greying and balding queer dilfs and milfs quickly.
That's interesting. I think that's interesting. Does anyone else find that interesting?
I've been trying to put my finger on what exactly about this, and I've figured it out. That's only a fraction of the number of Democrats that AIPAC gave money to.
AIPAC gave to 149 candidates for the US House in 2022 of which 121 won their elections. Only 22 of those 121 Democratic members voted to censure Tlaib, the remaining Democrats who received money from AIPAC voted no. Those Democrats received between $200 to $720,000.
Let's not inadvertently fall into the antisemitic (and yes this one is an old as dirt antisemitic conspiracy theory) that The Jews secretly control everyone in power through their Jew Gold or whatever. AIPAC is a genuinely evil lobbying organization that exerts undo influence over our political system, but so do a lot of other organizations and this argument falls apart when you realize the vast majority of the Democrats AIPAC gave money to still voted no.
Some people are just ideologues, and they didn't need to be bought off or whatever. Some of them are just true believers, y'know? We don't need to construct grand conspiracies around this stuff. Don't fall into easy narratives that make the Zionists jobs easier for them, because it's easy to use this to discredit our side.
If anyone wants the numbers, I made a quick and spreadsheet I'd be willing to share.
