Monstrous purrings in the dark

@monstrousgourmandizingcats / monstrousgourmandizingcats.tumblr.com

In theory a writing blog, in practice mostly pictures, fandom, religion, shitposting, and various academic gripes. Well over 18, autistic, leftist, Catholic, gender-ambivalent, New Englander, deeply invested in many things Italian and Japanese.

If you'd like to support the shitshow financially, my Ko-Fi is here, and you can follow one of the below links indirectly to a Patreon link.

If you're interested in my writing, here is my AO3 and here is my personal website. The extremely inconsistent gender self-presentation between platforms is what it is and reflects a deeper consistency.

I tend not to pay attention to OPs of widely disseminated posts.

23 and 30 for the soft asks? :)

23. favorite piece of clothing?

Lots of options here! I dress quite differently in the colder months (layers, scarves, lots of contrasting patterns) and in the warmer (lots of linens, Jackie Yellowjackets Chic, some looks that are honestly kinda racy). Overall I'd say it's a multicolored scarf my aunt brought back from a trip to South America.

30. what reminds you of home (doesn’t have to mean house… just things that remind you of the feeling of home)?

Certain smells, most urgently cow manure and bayberry.

Gonna start a trend where we take things directed specifically at gay people from Christians but put the word straight into it instead and see how many straight Christians see it as suddenly very mean.

OH I GOT ONE I GOT ONE

straight people do be smooching too much in public , (not just one or two pecks) and it makes the whole vibe in the room weird bc they think nobody sees them but everybody is really just trying not to look at them, because we feel like intruders in this intimate moment between you and so you really need an audience?

FANTASTIC.

Here's one:

As a heterosexual, even if you're called to marriage, being understanding of your sexuality would be an unfair burden to place on a spouse, so you really shouldn't consider that as a possible vocation.

Ooh, I've got one:

I don't understand why so many Christians feel the need to call themselves "straight" or even "heterosexual", even going so far as to publicly talk about their relationships and marriages as though being a "husband" or "wife" is so important. It's really insidious and unhealthy to imply that your opposite-sex attraction is an unchangeable part of who you are and tie it to your identity. Besides, the heterosexual community is rampant with sin - abuse, cheating, divorce, porn addiction, stalking, assault, and more - why would you want to identify with a label so closely tied to such an unhealthy and sinful lifestyle? Scripture calls you away from sin. You wouldn't call yourself a cheating Christian or a divorced Christian so why call yourself straight? I understand OSA is a real struggle, as I've wrestled with it myself, but you ought to put your identity in Christ. Identifying as straight is just misleading and confusing at best and dangerous at worst.

I've written--and published!--essays dead-seriously arguing for that last point. Here's one.

  1. what song makes you feel better?

It really, really depends on preexisting mood. Generally stuff that's acoustic and Lilith Fair-y is hard to go wrong with when I'm feeling bad, though.

12. how are you?

Very stressed and apprehensive. I should listen to something acoustic and Lilith Fair-y.
