Not voting is also a vote for Trump, and I think that’s something people don’t wholly understand. Capitalism has taught people to believe that what you consume represents who you are. And now people think that voting is the same as buying fair-trade chocolate or something, with the option to buy no chocolate if no (alleged) fair-trade bar is at the store. That’s not what politics is, though. To be a citizen of an empire is to always have blood on our hands, and we’re part of a giant fucking empire. We were all already complicit in America’s crimes. But we are most complicit in bloodshed when we shirk our duty to use the most immediately available method to keep Trump away from the executive office. Taking your hands off the wheel isn’t a “choice” and it sure as fuck isn’t a moral one when the car is speeding headlong towards fascism.

voting is the bare minimum. voting is admitting there's a wound there that needs to be addressed, dressed, and set to rest. doing work in your community, spreading awareness, and supporting your neighborhood, your township, your city, is what's going to make this world better. and if you can't do work anywhere else... do the bare minimum.
