Arrived at Mexico City, ready to finish killing off that cancer, wish me luck! It’s been some exhausting couple weeks and that always makes worry and fear rear their ugly head, so I’d love if you could wish me luck, reassurance if you can, and some bravery!

Does anyone else store ridiculous amounts of stress if their body as tension and what do you do to release it? I get physiotherapy sessions but I need something I can do daily too

I got yesterday’s blood work results back, everything is in ideal levels now, so I’m ready for those Radiotherapies!

I’ll be traveling to Mexico City and starting the radios early next week

It’s incredible how much better things are since my tumor removal surgery!

I mean that’s obvious, right? Things -should- be better as that’s the purpose of removing a giant tumor. I just can’t believe how much it’s helped me to get rid / let go of -other- things that were dragging me down. Emotional things, mental things. Maybe it’s all symbolic and it’s just the sheer relief of being rid of something that was tangibly making life harder (a whole pound of tumor) but I sure feel better

My dad had some limited hand radiotherapy and was recommended 5% urea cream to useful effect. Not a follower of yours and have no idea how well that will apply to what you're having, best of luck

Thank you!

My insurance approved my radiotherapies (hurray!) and they’ve finally been scheduled, I’ll be traveling in a week or so and will be away from home for around 45 to 50 days depending on how many I need.

I hear radiotherapy is very tiring and that it will damage my skin, so if you have any tips to help me rest properly and protect my skin let me know!

I’m lucky I have insurance but my copay is still hefty and since this is all away from home it’s going to be a pretty penny for lodging, meals and flights, so if you’d like to help me blast this cancer dead you can support me on Patreon, leave a tip on Ko-fi, get a Commission, or buy something from my Gallery Nucleus Store, I’d just ask you to be patient about the commissions since I’m not sure how tired the process will make me, but every bit helps!

Hey Tumblr sorry for the Radio silence and for leaving ya out of the loop, things have been really crazy, here's the gist of it:

Early last month I had surgery to remove a giant malignant tumor from my leg, it was as long as a ruler, thick, and weighted over a pound / half a kilo (it looks like something out of a del Toro film tbh!). It grew around my sciatic nerve so it’s no wonder it made me feel like crap all the time, specially at that size, but luckily it didn’t seem to grab onto other tissues, like the nerve, muscle or bone, so I still have my leg so far.

My oncology surgeons tell me they didn’t need to scrape from any tissue, which is great news, and I’ll be having 30 to 35 rounds of radiotherapy soon to kill off any cancerous cells left behind (Surgery was in Mexico City and I’ll travel back for radiotherapy this month).

Chemotherapy is not in the plan as of today, barring anything unexpected, fingers crossed it’s not necessary! 🤞🏼 I’m told the radios will tire me, and that I will need little tattoos on my legs to get it!

It’s been a rollercoaster. Right after surgery I had a blood drain for a couple weeks, and I still get very tired, but the surgery wound is healing up really well and shaping up to be a pretty neat looking barbarian scar- (pics after the jump at the end of the post)!

I’ve lost some weight but luckily not from the cancer but from a healthy diet and lots of walking (both dr's orders too) that I’m doing to prepare as best as possible for radiotherapy (some of my blood levels were out of whack) 23.15 pounds/10.5 kg lost as of today! minos that pound/half kilo that was just from the tumor itself.

In general I’m in pretty good spirits because my odds seem good, I’m told this type of cancer is very rare (it either appears in the thigh or the abdomen!) and not very aggressive, and that it has very little chances of returning, specially after treatment, and because it was still at a very low grade stage. I’m also told it’s not from anything I might have done, as it’s very random- and that makes me feel better too.

It’s still scary because on one side of my family there’s been a lot of cancer, sometimes very aggressive and mortal, but I’m trying to take everything one day at a time.

All in all I feel pretty good, specially considering the circumstances, and honestly I felt so much better the moment I woke up from surgery (so many aches, pains and weight gone!) that it's felt like mostly smooth sailing so far, except for some bumpy waves- It’s just funky realizing that my whole life changed in a day, I had to find a new home for my pup (this was a hard one) and stop renting to move in with family, I’ll be living in Mexico City for a couple months while radiotherapy lasts, and from now on I have to be very aware about a lot more things.

luckily I have some savings, insurance and a wonderful support system, and it’s all helping a lot (insurance approved both my surgery and a few days ago my radiotherapy too) but these are still big expenses specially for my long stay in CDMX, so if you enjoy my work and/or would like to help here’s all the relevant places:

Here is me now, less rotund and with shorter hair, and pondering just buzzing it all off to let it grow salt and pepper colored as it’s become (or maybe it’s just salt now?) what do you think?

Here's what my scar is looking like! (After the jump!) All the staples have been removed by now (we removed them at home!) and they were removed in two stages. I think it’s healing pretty well and I hope at least I get a cool barbarian scar after all these troubles. Fuzzy legs warning for those faint of heart, oh and I guess giant scar warning too.

I have a photo of the surgery itself (with my leg split wide open like a fish) and of the tumor up in my discord (which you can access through my Patreon) if you're not squeamish, not sure yet if I would put those up here, they might be too much for tumblr's guidelines.

Anyways, thanks a lot for reading, it's scary and uncertain times and sharing all this with peeps, virtual or not, really helps.
