Tips for Hexing & Cursing

Anything Hot, Spicy, or Sour can inflict physical pain, heat, agitation, or “sourness” to the individual.

Anything you normally use for divination, dreams, or astral can be used for Illusions, Delusions, & Nightmares

Anything you use for spirit work can be used to send unhappiness, restlessness, or spirits to someone

Anything poisonous/toxic can be used to create either illness or even death.

Any number or color association you may have can be used in opposition against them.

Anything with positive aspects can be used to siphon those aspects from your target.

Whatever you do with information is on you. Do with it what you wish.

Home Protection Spell(s)

This is mainly for the super patient @poppyrosewitch who asked for these almost two weeks ago. I’ve been super busy with life and just now got around to posting this. I hope you can forgive me!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1) House Protection Amulet
  • Two Birch Sticks (The Birch tree has great protective properties)
  • Red Thread (you can also use black or blue thread as well)
  • Optional: Any crystals that you want
What to Do:
  1. Form a cross with the two Birch sticks
  2. Bind them together with the red thread and hang this in your house (I recommend the heart of the home)
  3. For extra power/enhancement attach crystals to where the twigs meet, above, or underneath the cross.
2) Door Protection
  • Place a Dill plant or a small bag of dried Dill near or above any doors of your room. (Dill is used for preventing anyone/thing that harbors hostile or envious feelings towards the members of the house.
3) Doorstep Rice Spell
  • Empty Jar (mason jar will be perfect)
  • Uncooked Rice (either white or brown up to you)
What to Do:
  1. Fill an open jar with the raw rice.
  2. Place jar by the main door (so your front door or the door most often used) for protection.
  3. Rice doesn’t repel evil but absorbs it, so you will have to replace the rice weekly to get rid of any negative energies that have been absorbed.
  4. Do NOT bring the rice into your home when you are replacing the old rice. Do NOT cook it either. Dispose of it outside by burning, tossing it away, or scattering it on the Earth. The pure energy of Mother Nature will cleanse the rice so don’t worry about putting the negative energies out into the world.
4) Home Protection Floor wash
What to Do:
  1. Add the War Water to a bucket of floor wash water with some vinegar
  2. Cleanse the floors and any surfaces you feel need to be cleansed as well.
  3. When the cleansing is complete, toss the used wash water out the back door (if you do not have a back door or window, you can just flush out the leftover water down the toilet).
  4. Rise the mop and bucket out thoroughly. Flush this rinse water down the toilet.
5) War Water Spell
  • Wash all thresholds, doorways, and gateways with some War Water (and vinegar if you want to add an extra boost) to set up a front line of defense against anything evil.
6) Witch’s Bottle: Protection Spell (Warning: This calls for a drop or two of Blood)
  • Three Pin (you can use red/black/blue pins)
  • Three Needles (any size will do)
  • Three Nails (again any size will do)
  • Lots of Salt
  • A glass/ceramic/stone/metal bottle (anything but plastic will work!)
What to Do:
  1. Place the three pins, needles, and nails into your bottle.
  2. Fill the bottle with salt (enough to cover the pins, needles, and nails)
  3. Add three drops of your own blood (pricking your finger is the easiest and cleanest way)
  4. Seal the bottle securely, and bury it under the hearth or next to your home.
7) Witch’s Ladder: Protection Spell
The witch’s ladder is a magical device most often used with hexes, but it can also be used for protection! Witch’s ladders, whether malevolent or positive, may be physically indistinguishable, what separates them is the intent of their creator.
Three cords (one red, one black and the third color is up to you)
Feathers (recommended is peacock but use any feather that you feel a connection with/has strong protection properties)
What to Do:
  1. Braid the cords together, visualizing your intent and desires, continually and intently.
  2. Tie a feather to the bottom of the braid.
  3. Continue the braid until you have your desired number of feathers (remember that the numbers 5, 7, & 9 are highly recommend for protection spells).
  4. When complete pass the braid through incense smoke and keep it hidden away safely in a secret spot.
🌑✖Tattooed Priestess✖🌑
✖A pop culture spell for uncrossing, be it a certain area of you life or a spell, getting rid of evil or stuck energy, or simply banishing, based on Fatal Frame 3✖
You’ll need:
-A poppet pattern (can be as complex or simple as you wish, I’m going to use the one below, which is really simple, you can use it too!).
image
-Fabric or thick paper (use color correspondences, I recommend either a really dark blue, for uncrossing, or white, for purification).
-Something to fill the poppet with. Prepare a mixture of herbs and grains that correspond with what is stopping you from achieving your goal, or what you want to banish. Make sure is enough to give your poppet a good body!
-Something to write with. If you’re using a dark color for the poppet, consider writing on it with wet chalk or liquid paper. If it’s a light color, then regular markers should work just fine!
-Two white candles and four red candles.
✖ Start by tracing the poppet’s pattern in your fabric, or in the paper you’ve chosen. You should end up with two sides of the poppet, and then stick them together or sew them! Leave a nice opening somewhere to fill the poppet.
✖ Place the two white candles on your working surface, one at each side of the poppet, and light them up, counterclockwise (for the northern hemisphere), clockwise (for the southern hemisphere). Then, fill the poppet with your mix, and close the opening shut. During this process, concentrate on capturing all negative energy that may be causing you problems inside the poppet. Once you’re done, blow out those two candles, as you’re blowing away any remaining negativity you may have attracted to that area in the process.
✖ Place the four red candles around the poppet, one at each limb, and light them up, clockwise (for the NH) or counterclockwise (for the SH). Start writing on both sides of the poppet what you want to accomplish, what you want to transmutate that negative energy into. Also, specify how you want to uncross this issue, and in what period of time it will work. The poppet should end up completely covered in your positive thoughts. Then, carefully blow out the candles.
✖ At the end, you can chant a little recitation for uncrossing or banishing, and attracting positive energy, then simply store the poppet until your problem is solved!
✖ If time runs out, and it didn’t work out, or it didn’t work in the way you wanted it to, dismantle the poppet, but keep it’s parts. Re-do the whole process, and use the remainings of the first doll as part of the filling of the new one. It should empower further the doll, and help specify your terms.
Celebrate Litha!
Hello everyone! Here is the last installment of my celebrate…! series. The celebrate…! series gives a basic overview of each of the Sabbats and other witchy holidays. I make these posts as each of the Sabbats come along, and afterwards, I will start making posts on other lesser known witchy days.
Litha, or the Summer Solstice is the festival of the Longest Day of the year. In the Northern Hemisphere it is celebrated around the 21st June, and around the 21st December for the Southern Hemisphere. It marks the longest day of the year, when the sun is at the height of its power. The days are long, the earth is warm, and the land is a myriad of colour. The trees are leafy green, fruits and vegetables are ripening and animals are enjoying the bountiful earth.
The ritual significance of this day has been marked since the neolithic period, with many henges, cairns and tombs having been aligned to mark the sun’s poistion on this day. The most famous of these is Stonehenge, but can also be seen at the Ring of Brodgar in Orkney. Thousands of neo-pagans still travel to Stonehenge for the Summer Solstice each year (if you are going please I implore you to be respectful and careful, there are ancient burials surrounding you, don’t stand on the stones or lean against them).
From the early medieval period, the festival of Midsummer was celebrated. With the advent of Christianity, the festival coincided with the feast of St John the Baptist. As such, in England, Midsummer’s Eve is celebrated on the 23rd June, with the feast of St John on the 24th June. John Mirk in the 14th century writes the following description of Midsummer’s Eve:  “…in worship of St John the Baptist, men stay up at night and make three kinds of fires: one is of clean bones and no wood and is called a “bonnefyre”; another is of clean wood and no bones, and is called a wakefyre, because men stay awake by it all night; and the third is made of both bones and wood and is called, “St. John’s fire.“
Across Europe it was/is a time of merriment, dancing, and feasting. Farmers markets and fairs were often set up during this time of year, to show off the fruits, flowers and seasonal vegetables which had been grown.
Shakespeare’s play, A Midsummer’s Night Dream, shows that this time of year has long been associated with fairies and mischief magic. John Gregorson Campbell notes many instances of the Fair Folk getting up to mischief on Midsummer’s Eve.
Things to do on Litha:
  • Perform magic and rituals associated with fairies or the Fair Folk; make a dwelling for a Brownie or Piskey, leave offerings for them
  • Perform magic centered around the sun; happiness, postivity, energy, warmth and comfort
  • Light bonfires and other flames to mirror the fiery strength of the sun
  • Take a walk in the nature, noticing the birds and animals, the flowers and other plants
  • Find an oak tree and leave it a (suitable) offering
  • Cook a meal making use of seasonal fruits and vegetables, such as strawberries and peas
  • Harvest some plants from your garden, such as herbs
  • Decorate your home or altar with flowers such as daisies, roses, buttercups (toxic to animals) and sunflowers
  • Make use of citrine, tigers eye, yellow aventurine, jasper and carnelian
  • Dress yourself in, and decorate your space with, any vibrant colours; such as shades of yellows, oranges, greens, reds, and blues
  • Use honey and citrus fruits in your food
  • Dance with your friends or by yourself!
  • Stay up to watch the sun set and the moon rise
Magickal Moon
The moon has been a magickal presence for thousands and thousands of years. Ancestors of multiple cultures believed it had some spiritual significance. Science has helped us understand the moon and it’s effect on Earth, and astronauts who have visited the moon returned having a more spiritual connection, exploring religious or metaphysical beliefs more in depth.
Moon Phases and Magick
There are numerous spells you can perform while under the different phases of the moon. One simple ritual can be done to perform all the spells listed here by taking a small white candle to the window and gazing at the moon. Say your wish aloud and with feeling, then leave the candle to burn down and extinguish itself. (Remember to never leave a lit candle near a window unattended completely, or place it near a curtain).
The Full Moon
The moon and its phases were once theorized to interfere with our internal chemistry by exerting gravitational forces on our bodies, or that the moon’s gravitational fields caused electrical particles to fall down to Earth further interfering with the function of the brain. Many scientific studies have attempted to disprove this notion, as well as invalidating the belief that crimes and mental instability (such as lunatic) increased during full moons. The full moon does not have any negative connotations in the magickal world, it is just considered a very powerful time of the month. Fridays that fall on full moons, for example, are perfect days for casing love spells. If you try to cast a love spell during any other moon phase, it doesn’t mean it won’t work, but the results could take longer.
There are lots of other spells that can be cast during the benefit of a full moon also:
  • Protecting property and home
  • Adding vigor to your life
  • Anything to do with love
  • Increasing self-confidence
  • Advancing in career and work
  • Enhancing psychic ability/clairvoyance
  • Strengthening friendships and family bonds
  • Performing general good-luck spells
The Waxing Moon
During the waxing moon, witches like to cast spells for improving situations or getting things going if they have been stuck for a while. This is a good phase of the moon to help kick-start your life. The following spells are fast-acting during a waxing moon:
  • Moving forward from depression
  • Getting out of a rut
  • Passing exams and tests
  • Finding lost objects
  • Healing a sick animal or finding a lost pet
  • Nurturing abundant, healthy gardens and the well-being of nature
  • Losing weight or stopping smoking
The Waning Moon
The waning moon is perfect to cast spells for getting ride of negative energies that sometimes hang over your life. If you cast a spell during this moon phase, you will gain the power to take control again, strengthen weak areas, and become more assertive in actions. Cast spells during a waning moon for:
  • Developing inner strength and assertiveness
  • Banishing enemies
  • Stopping arguments
  • Soothing unruly children
  • Calming anxiety
  • Getting out of tricky situations
The New Moon
This lunar experience is appropriate for just about any spell. The new moon phase surrounds us with positive energy and can be a catalyst for immediate change. Transitions in life happen naturally around a new moon phase anyway, such as new jobs or births. To revolutionize your life during this time, cast spells for:
  • Career changes
  • Moving house swiftly and easily
  • Safe and enjoyable travel
  • Increasing your cash flow
  • Better health
  • Conceiving
Women and the Moon
In many early religions, the moon was worshipped as a goddess, and it has always been seen as a feminine symbol. The moon orbits at a distance of approximately 238,855 miles from Earth, and takes about 28 days to complete its orbit. In an interesting comparison, the amount of time between female menstrual cycles is the same amount of days.
Moons and Moods
Our demeanor changes depending on what the moon is doing. If you are interested in studying your own changes, keep a Book of Shadows about how you feel during each passing phase. Certain situations can naturally occur during certain phases, also. Animals may be affected by the full moon phase, and can become a bit more rambunctious. So if you’re a witch with felines, keep catnip at hand.
The Dark or Void of the Moon
During the dark moon, when the face of the moon is hidden, it is also known as the “dead” moon. It takes place precisely three days before a new moon, and is considered to be the most magickal and potent of all the phases. Many individuals who partake in black magick do so during this time. People using dark magick can influence any spells or rituals that you may be performing. Their collective power can cause cosmic havoc: our spells may become confused or simply not work at all. It is advised to be experienced wand wavers to attempt rituals at this time.
A Beginner’s Guide to Tea Leaf Reading
Hi there! If you’re here, that means you most likely don’t know how to read tea leaves, or perhaps you could use some more tips? Regardless, you’ll find all of that here! This guide will be pretty all-encompassing, so bear with me!
What is tea leaf reading?
Tasseography, better known as reading tea leaves, is the process of divination using tea leaves. When done properly, the tea leaves will show an image (even if vague) that will symbolize the answer to a question the reader asked. The image can tell the future or just give advice; depending on the question.
How does one read tea leaves?
This is definitely a more involved question, but here’s how I do it; step by step.
1. First, brew your cup of tea. It can be any flavor. But if you are reading for someone else, you may want to let them choose the flavor (I like to do this). However, if you can’t choose a flavor, black tea is pretty standard as the dark color of the tea makes it easier to read.
2. Now, drink your tea. If it is a loose leaf tea, try to drink as little of the leaves as possible. If it is a bag, leave the bag steeping in there and drink. Don’t drink it all, though, leave a little liquid in (not very much at all.)
3. At this point, if you used a tea bag, you’re going to want to open the bag and let the leaves pour into the little amount of liquid there is left.
4. Now, at this point I like to rotate the cup clockwise three times. You can rotate it any direction and as many times you want. You don’t even have to rotate it at all if you don’t want to.
5. Now, you’re going to place a saucer or plate over the top of the cup. Tip the cup over so that most of the liquid and leaves spill onto the plate/saucer.
6. Now, you will see some leaves left in the cup. These should make an image. Although it may be abstract, it’ll be there, even though it might take a while for you to see it.
7. Now it’s time for you to interpret your image. You can either look up the symbology of the image you saw or do your own interpretation based on your own personal associations.
8. Now focus on where the image is. Is it at the top, bottom, left, right, right by the handle? The placement shows what time the interpretation will happen. I will attach an infographic to give a better idea of what I’m talking about here.
And there you have it!! This is how I do my tea leaf readings. It does take some practice, but once you get a hang of it, you’ll only get better.
Moss Graffiti: A How To Guide
are you fucking for real
Imagine being the criminal who returns weekly to make sure his fucking plant art is doing alright
Later
I found it! I fucking found it! In my fucking dash! Nothing can stop me now! *EVIL GIGGLES*
OMG SAME RIGHT I SAW IT A YEAR AGO AND WAS UPSET I COULDNT FIND IT AGAIN
Quick and Easy Curse
I’m not the type of witch to go hunting for random ass ingredients that you can’t find anywhere, so I made a quick and easy curse against abusers/those who have wronged you. You will need - Black Candle - Red Candle - Pentacle (optional) - Jar - A Cauldron -2 Pieces of Paper - Red Pen - Black Salt or herb ashes - Dirt
1st: Light your candles. Get powered up. get ANGRY. Get HEATED. Allow all your emotions to flow through you into your circle.  2nd: Bust out a letter of intent. Put every thing you imagine on there. You want them to be in unimaginable pain for the rest of their life? fuck yeah. You want them to be consumed by horrific guilt forever? DO IT. Write all that emotion in that letter. Fold it up and burn it. Add the ashes to your black salt or burnt herbs.  3rd: Put that burnt shit in a jar.  4th. Take the 2nd piece of paper and write the name (or a picture of the abuser) and shove it in that jar. Pour hot red wax all up in that shit. Imagine it burning that fucker who did you wrong. Sealing all your anger away from you and onto that stupid ass mofo who decided it was a good idea to fuck with a badass like yourself.  5. Fill the rest of your jar with dirt. Bury the seed of your anger and let the intent bloom and take fruition.  6. Throw that jar away or keep it in a safe place to remind you that that anger isn’t yours to carry. it’s being dealt with and it’s in that jar. 7. Cleanse your space and get back into a calm state. I recommend doing a healing spell or meditation after this.
Heal Your Heart Potion
A tea spell for getting past emotional pain/exhaustion and bringing in comfort and self love -💌
Collect: a mug, vanilla black tea (or black tea and vanilla extract), cinnamon, milk (or milk substitute), honey, rose quartz and/or amethyst
Take your mug and put in your tea bag with a sprinkle of cinnamon (and vanilla extract if you’re using that)
Fill up the mug with milk and heat it to your desired temperature
Take a heaping spoonful of honey and stir it in, clockwise to bring comforting/empowering energy and counterclockwise to banish negativity and emotional pain
Charge your tea with the rose quartz and/or amethyst
Sit down with your tea
Put your hands around the mug and feel the warmth and comfort
As you’re drinking the tea slowly, imagine it healing you from the inside out; targeting your emotions, your mind and your heart, and then radiating that energy to the outside
The Elements and their correspondences
E A R T H
Earth represents strength, grounding, prosperity, the material, wealth, success, foundations, death and rebirth. Focus on this element if the goal of your spell is about fertility, prosperity, business or stability. Earth spells may take longer to work, but they’re also more firm and are good if you’re looking for long-term solutions.
GENDER: Feminine SEASON: Winter DIRECTION: North HOUR: Night
COLOURS: Green, Brown, Black ANIMALS: Bears, Deers, Wolves, Badgers HERBS/PLANTS: Ivy, Ash, Vetiver, Wheats, Oats INSTRUMENTS: Drums (Percussion instruments)
A I R
Air represents intellect and the mind, wisdom, knowledge; logic as well as abstract thought, intuition and higher consciousness. If you’re seeking freedom, travels, or to enhance your memory and focus - focus on Air spells! Air is whimsical and amiable, personally I haven’t found it useful for more serious spells, but it does wonders for my studies.
GENDER: Masculine SEASON: Spring DIRECTION: East HOUR: Dawn
COLOURS: Yellow, White, Sky Blue, Pastels ANIMALS: Birds, Spiders, Butterflies HERBS/PLANTS: Lavender, Birch, Vervain, Dill, Aspen INSTRUMENTS: Flute (Wind instruments)
F I R E
Fire represents energy, passion, purification, love, inspiration, desire, will, courage, power, leadership, sexuality. In spellcraft, focusing on Fire is good for purification, healing and love spells; it’s the best element for quick, strong spells. Although, Fire is fierce in essence, and Fire spells are susceptible - they should be well thought out.
GENDER: Masculine SEASON: Summer DIRECTION: South HOUR: Noon
COLOURS: Red, Orange, Gold ANIMALS: Snakes, Lions, Horses HERBS/PLANTS: Cacti, Cinnamon, Pepper, Basil INSTRUMENTS: Guitar (Stringed instruments)
W A T E R
Water represents purification as well; though it’s focused more on the soul and the subconscious rather than the physical, material world. Water stands for emotion, intuition, wisdom, eternal movement, reflection, lunar energy. Focusing on the Water element is good for psychic abilities, getting in tune with your inner self, mysteries, friendships, love, dreams and sleep.
Here is one of the ways to make sigils!
Sigils is something used by not only witches but also many other people. Sigils help you accomplish things you want, like: losing a habit, passing a test, or finding something you’ve lost. (But getting these accomplished would definitely take time)
There are many other ways to make sigils, and all of them would work as long as you believe. Of course, sigils won’t be able to do hard things like finding a stack of gold or making your hair grow really long in 1 day.
Jar curse
You’ll need:
- A jar you never want to use ever again
- A piece of card with their name written on it- fold it a bit to make it nice and strong to stick needles through without hurting your hands. This is your taglock for them
- 9 Sewing needles
- 9 Tacks
- 9 pieces of paper with their name and their bad deeds written on it. Things like their name followed by “Abusive behaviour”, “Know it all”, “Show off”, “Gossiper”, “Disrespect”. etc.
- Fire proof bowl
- Water in case you accidentally set your altar on fire (believe me if you’re not careful these things happen)
- Chilli powder
- Pepper
- Vinegar
- Your spit
- Cigarette ashes
- Black candle
- 2 plastic bags
The cursing bit:
- Cast a circle and invite your elements and deities if you work with any.
- Grab the taglock and think about how hurt and angry this person makes you feel. Direct the angry energy you are feeling into each of the 9 pins and tacks and stab the paper. Keep the tacks and needles stuck in the taglock.
- Put the taglock into your jar
- Summon all your anger and spit three times on the taglock
- Take the 9 pieces of paper with their name and bullshit behaviours on them and burn them inside your fire proof bowl. Keep the water handy in case the burning gets out of hand. As each paper burns say “I curse you [Insert name]. Your abuse will return back to you 9 fold.”
- Dump the paper ashes into the jar.
- On top of the ashes dump the chilli powder, pepper and vinegar and cigarette ashes. Say I curse you [Insert name] may these substances sting and burn as you have stung and burned me.
- put the lid on and shake the jar up. Focus on your target. Imagine a ball of black energy is forming inside you. Inside that black ball of energy, put all your painful memories of that person, their negative words, their bad attitude, their abuse, all of your hate and tears and pain, your internal screaming, everything about them that makes you angry. Channel that hateful energy out through your hand chakras and into the jar. Take plenty of time to do this and don’t stop focusing on it until you feel there is nothing left you can put in. The jar’s energy should feel really awful.
- Double bag the jar in the plastic bags and tie them shut. Take the bag outside in your back yard. If you have any left over residual hateful energy, now is the time to get rid of it. Summon any left over anger, scream and yell at the jar if you need to.Swear at it, anything. Then as forcefully as possible throw that jar and smash it. The energy will be released from the jar and find it’s target.
- Close the circle and smudge the hell out of yourself and anywhere in your house that the jar was.
-Leave the bag out overnight and collect the debris the next day inside the sealed plastic bags with no mess to clean up. That persons behaviour deserves a rubbish tip, so in this case I wouldn’t feel bad for throwing it in a bin and having it sent to land fill. Just get that shit out of your life and send it to a disgusting place of no return.
Major Arcana Cheat Sheet
The Fool: The Fool is a very powerful card in the Tarot deck, usually representing a new beginning – and, consequently, an end to something in your old life. The Fool’s position in your spread reveals which aspects of your life may be subject to change. The Fool portends important decisions ahead which may not be easy to make, and involve an element of risk for you. Approach the changes with optimism and care to gain the most positive outcome.
The Magician: The Magician generally associates with intelligent and skillful communicators. His presence in your spread indicates a level of self-confidence and drive which allows you to translate ideas into action. A practical card, the revelations it brings are best applied to the pragmatic and physical aspects of your life, rather then the ephemeral or theoretical. Your success in upcoming ventures in politics or business will likely hinge upon your own strength of will and determination.
The High Priestess: Your identification with the High Priestess suggests you possess inherent good judgment, in the form of strong intuition. She may indicate that reason should take second place to instinct. Your head must trust in the wisdom of your heart for a change. Yet, she is also an aide by nature, and her presence in certain parts of your spread could be indicative of someone close to you coming to your rescue with their own intuition. Intuition is most effective at seeing what is hidden to the senses, so the High Priestess may also come as a warning of concealed facts or influences that are, or will be, important to you.
The Empress: Traditionally associated with strong maternal influence, the presence of the Empress is excellent news if you are looking for harmony in your marriage or hoping to start a family. Any artistic endeavors you are currently associated with are also likely to be more successful, as this card often finds those exposed to strong bursts of creative or artistic energy. That creative energy may not be in the form of a painting or art project, however: This card also suggests a very strong possibility of pregnancy – not necessarily yours, but you might be seeing a new addition to your extended family or the family of a close friend in the near future! This card is a good portent for you and those around you.
The Emperor: Counterpart to the Empress, the Emperor is signifies a powerful influence, generally male in nature. This can also include concepts in your life historically considered masculine, such as leadership and authority, self-discipline, and stability through the power of action. Its positive influences suggest you may be on a path to advancement or promotion, but it can also be neutral. Often a companion to those destined to take on greater responsibility, it may presage change or loss that necessitates you stepping forward to shoulder a greater burden than you have in the past. Whatever the impetus for the change, it indicates you may possess an uncommon inner strength that will compel you act and to lead.
The Hierophant (Pope): Depending on your own nature, the Hierophant can mean very different things. At its root, it represents doctrine, but doctrine can come in the form of teaching and guidance or rigid authority. Where it appears in your spread is also important, as it is most often indicative of your own approach to the moral, religious, and social conventions of the world. Considered wisely, it helps show the path towards fulfillment.
The Lovers: Your first instinct will most likely be to associate this card as representing love, but, much like love, it does not possess a simple nature. Not only does love comes in many forms, but the Lovers may indicate important or difficult choices ahead in your life. This is bad, in that the choices it portends are generally mutually exclusive, paths to two very different futures, but also good, in that it also confirms that at least one of those paths will take you to a good place. As such, if you happen to find it in your spread, you should consider it carefully, but not fear it. It tells a story of difficult choices, likely painful, but that the correct decision and a positive outcome are within your grasp.
The Chariot: You have some hard work ahead of you. It may be resolved quickly, but the Chariot is a powerful card, and the labor you are undertaking will probably trend towards long and difficult. You will quite possibly experience rough roads, long uphill slopes, dead ends, and painful setbacks. A good outcome is only assured if the card is upright, but do not let yourself lose hope: This hard road will instill in you a strength of purpose, the ability to overcome through organization and endurance, and the confidence possessed only by those who have done what they thought they could not. Harnessed correctly, few forces can stand against an individual like that.
Strength: Strength is the rawest form of power, and you possess it in some form. It is a very happy card if you are fighting illness or recovering from injury. As might be suspected, its influence over you, and the use you put it to, can trend towards light or dark. You likely trend towards facing your problems courageously, head-on, and conquering them through perseverance and will. With this ability to overcome life’s obstacles, though, comes the responsibility to control yourself, and it this card may be a warning to take command of your own actions or emotions before they damage you or the people you care about.
The Hermit: There are times in every life, when one must step back and make a careful examination of their situations and decisions. Finding the Hermit in your spread suggests this is just such a time for you. You are in need of a period of inner reflection, away from the current demands of your position. This retreat can be physical, or a search within. Only a deep and honest introspection will lead to a solution, however.
Wheel of Fortune: Symbolic of life’s cycles, the Wheel of Fortune speaks to good beginnings. Most likely, you will find the events foretold to be positive, but, being aspects of luck, they may also be beyond your control and influence. Tend those things you can control with care, and learn not to agonize over the ones you cannot.
Justice: Justice is a very good card to find in your spread if you have acted with kindness and fairness towards other and, especially, if you have been a victim. It is a significant indicator of a positive resolution, although how and what sort will depend on your own experiences. If you have been unfair, abusive, or otherwise shady and immoral in your dealings, though, pay heed. For the unjust, this card is, at best, a dire warning to change your ways before retribution falls upon you, and, at worst, a simple statement that it is already too late. In neutral cases, it may simply be telling you to seek out balance in your life.
The Hanged Man: The Hanged Man can be interpreted in two very different ways. All change is a small kind of death, as the old must die to create the new, and it may simply indicate upheaval or change in your future, perhaps beyond your control, but more likely a decision that, for good or ill, you will not be able to turn back from. The other interpretation is one of sacrifice, although whether this sacrifice is small or great may not be easily interpreted. Both interpretations imply permanence, and that you should give very careful thought to the decisions in your life.
Death: Death is indicative of change in your future. This change can be in almost any aspect of your life, but it will almost certainly be permanent, significant, and absolute. Death suggests a complete severance between the past and the future, and it will likely be painful. Despite the sense of loss that may accompany it, Death fills an important and natural role in life, and leads eventually to acceptance. It is a necessary part of moving forward, and you will find the changes easiest if you embrace them, rather than fight them. Expect the end of a close friendship, a job, a marriage, or even a life, but do not focus too greatly on the negative.
Temperance: An optimistic card, Temperance encourages you to find balance in your life and approach problems with a calm demeanor. It recognizes that opposing forces need not be at war within you. Tread carefully in any major decisions you make, with confidence that good decisions will lead to a good resolution for you.
The Devil: The Devil is in the business of entrapment. It signifies a situation from which there is no escape, or a road leading to one. Forewarning may let you avoid the trap, or it may not. What sort of trap, and how you might avoid it, depends on where the Devil appears in your spread, and what other cards surround it. This card does not foretell doom, only the need for prudence.
The Tower: Dark and foreboding, the Tower is the embodiment of disruption and conflict. Not just change, but the abrupt and jarring movement caused by the unforeseen and traumatic events which are part of life. The Tower in your spread is always a threat, but life inevitably involves tragedy, and you must decide whether you will face it with grace.
The Star: The Star’s presence signifies a period of respite and renewal for you. This renewal may be spiritual, physical, or both. It is a particularly positive sign if you or someone close is recovering from illness or injury. It is a light in the darkness, illuminating your future and your past.
The Moon: Something in your life is not what it seems. Perhaps a misunderstanding on your part, or a truth you cannot admit to yourself. It may also indicate something important being kept from you by another. This may be a source of worry or depression in your life, and the Moon is a strong indicator that you must rely on your intuition to see through the subterfuge.
The Sun: As an inherently good influence, finding the Sun is a positive development. It is suggestive of personal gain, and that personal goals and joy are within reach, if you are willing to invest the effort to actualize them. If you are embarking on a new personal venture, such as marriage or beginning a family, the Sun is of particular influence.
Judgement: Judgment tells a story of transition, but unlike Death or the Tower, it is not sudden change, or born of luck or intuition, but change that springs from reason. It signifies plans, often long in the making, coming to fruition. If it points towards the future, it may also speak towards the nature of the change; if there is a choice that needs to be made, ruminate and let your mind guide the decision. Logic, in this case, is a better guide than intuition. Be prepared to make a major decision in your life, likely one that will shape the next chapter of your life.
The World: The World is an indicator of a major and inexorable change, of tectonic breadth. This change represents a chance for you to bring about a desirable end to the Old and a good beginning to the New. It is indicative of growing maturity, a sense of inner balance and deeper understanding. It suggests that you may be approaching a more final sense of identity, and the security in the self that comes with age. It also represents the falling away of boundaries, sometimes in the effusive sense of the spiritual, but sometimes in a purely physical sense, indicating travels or journeys in the future.
Samhain General Guide
Samhain, or “summer’s end,” has several aspects. For the ancient Celts, Samhain marked summer coming to a close and the beginning of winter. It is considered the final harvest (for meat) of the year, the Celtic New Year, a time to honor one’s ancestors, and a night that the veil between the physical and spiritual world is thinnest. It is thought that divination is more powerful at this time, that the faerie folk are more active and that the dearly departed are nearer to us (and thus easier to contact) for this reason. Today, Samhain takes place on October 31st.
Ogham Alphabet; trees version
After doing some research I found that the ogham alphabet was not originally just depicting tree names, there were a few that did but not all, it wasn’t until much later that scholars tried to superimpose trees onto the meanings of the letters. Naming it the Celtic tree alphabet.
I am however still going to use these tree meanings for use in divination, as it’s easier to interpret meaning from the type of tree you get and its correspondences
