Old book covers.
He was a young artist employed by the Disney studio, but tasked with the entry-level job of finishing off the work of the animators and crafting the “in-between” animations that completed the characters’ movements. Wong had learned that studio executives were creating a film from the new novel, Bambi, A Life in the Woods by Felix Salten. Tom says the young artist read the book and without consulting his supervisor, “took the script and painted some visual concepts to set the mood, color and the design.”
His sketches recalled the lush mountain and forest scenes of Sung dynasty landscape paintings. His initiative paid off. Walt Disney, who was looking for something new for the film, was captivated and personally directed that Wong be promoted. Today, top animators and illustrators revere Wong’s work. Children today are as enchanted by the misty, lyrical brushstrokes of Wong’s colorful nature scenes, inspired by his training at Otis College of Art and self-study of Sung Dynasty art

I miss the 2000s because there were so many fashion trends and moments when it was encouraged to look like a hot-ass mess. The Instagram age is this weird era of control and perfection and “eyebrows on fleek” blah blah like I miss when everyone walked around with last night’s eyeliner still on while wearing 25 stupid accessories at once dressed like you slept in trash or whatever.
i love following prog rock blogs on here bc they’ll post pictures of the band members and be like “omfg hes so cute and soft love him” but every fucking time they look exactly like this
im so glad that “Kacynzski was right” is such a commonly held viewpoint
Lot of great points here that are applicable not just to minority culture but also to majority culture as well as many westerners are struggling to define what makes them unique.

Did you know that despite only making 10% of the American population, Irish-Americans account for half of their presidents? I just though that was interesting.

But in all seriousness do not fuck with things that can warp your perception of timelines and realities kids less a single out of place night turn into a lifetime paranoia complex.
Are we talking some Mandela shit here?
That falls into the purvey of this post but there’s also other anomalies of reality that also can be addressed with this post.
I dislike non-participation as a method of anarchy. The reason why it doesn't work is because it works to the advantage to authority and has been so often in history the reason why authoritarian regimes were allowed to rise. People have the right to live as far away from politics and government as they want, but apathy towards changing a system, whether from within or outside, will always work to the advantage of the oppressor. I'm sorry, but I'd like to know why I'm wrong?
I could be totally wrong with my assessment. I look through history and every violent revolution has always lead to just another violent and immoral state.
Also, don’t confuse non violence, non-participation, and agorism as apathy. In fact I think those who advocate the non-violent approach are anything but apathetic.
To completely change a system it has to be an organic bottom up revolution of the mind. If we can live free, be happy, educate and talk to people in our lives, and show them how fantastic live can be when you’re free from the violence of the state we can achieve anarchy.
Violence always begets more violence.
“People try nonviolence for a week, and when it ‘doesn’t work’ they go back to violence, which hasn’t worked for centuries.”
— Theodore Roszak
I wish the masses were so politically “apathetic” that they paid no mind to some raving megalomaniac claiming to be their rigtful ruler. If only they could simply chuckle dismissively and go about their day instead of buying into his demagoguery, thus making him a relevant threat to society in the first place.
People who simply want to be left alone and live peacefully are not the problem. This is how distorted one’s moral compass becomes when you refuse to legitimize the political process they consider to be sacrosanct.
“Your local grocer would be laughed out of business if he whined that his customers were ‘apathetic’ because they refuse to buy his rotten bananas. But the politician whines in the same way when he charges people with apathy because they won’t buy his rotten promises.”
