Please Excuse My Laziness

@mochicakes19

This is just something to share my little doodles with. Sorry if I don't post frequently

STOP MAKING ME FEEL OLD

Okay, but this is genuinely adorable. I love how the first kid, after entering the number, was like “what do I do now?”. I bet the kid was trying to figure out where the “call” button was, because if you’re only used to cell phones, it’s not really intuitive that the call will automatically go through once you finish entering the phone number

These days, the concept of a dial tone is rather obsolete for a cellphone-centric world, so it isn't a surprise these girls are young enough to be unfamiliar with it or the hookswitch. Only place you see traditional telephones are in office buildings and older homes that still use it. When dial service was introduced, the Bell System had to put together instructional films to educate telephone users. So many people were used to being able to pick up and tell the operator who to call for them, so you had to suddenly learn where to find phone numbers. They didn't even have pushbuttons telephones yet, just rotary dial.

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.

touching grass isn't enough some of y'all need to drive out to the countryside and look at the stars

this post was aimed at the discourse-addled and terminally online, but i'm glad it's reaching an audience of people who are just excited about stargazing in general

Plane flight home. Guy holding up the TSA line because he is trying to bring a live cat on board. No harness. No carrier. Just a loose armful of cat.

TSA agent is clearly beyond pissed, but also doesn't really know how to respond.

They just sent him through. TSA told him to wait while someone "found a carrier."

The guy looked sheepish and confused. Like, he didn't even realize, the cat was gonna be a problem. Also, calmest cat I've ever seen.

This is such an important and genuinely terrifying post. I could completely go off on the rise of anti-science, but for now I’ll just add: it isn’t just boomers that get deceived. This is a warning to all of us.

Pay ATTENTION to what you are being told. If you think you cannot be deceived, you leave yourself open to deception. Question, doubt, research research research. Learn about your personal biases, dig up any subconscious cognitive dissonance. Keep an eye on your mind.

It needs to be stressed that biases, not a lack of intelligence, is very much the issue here. Being aware of the need to fact check yourself is key: Intelligence won’t protect you from bad or unhealthy mental states, or keep you safe from cults of any sort. Intelligence will just make it easier for you to rationalize and attempt to justify the malformed tools you’ve taken/been given to yourself and others. You need to be wise enough to challenge yourself.

As a cult survivor, this is lethally accurate.

This is about Sci-Hub. yeah we get it.. gatekeep knowledge and protect the interests of capital…

Listen, this is serious.

Do not use the website called Sci-Hub!

It lets people access scientific articles for free. This is dangerous. It helps the free flow of knowledge and reduces the competitive edge of all the people who worked really hard to have been born into a wealth.

Like, it’s literally a website where you can type in the DOI of an article and read it, without ever having to pay the publisher who exploited the author.

So, again, do not, under any circumstance, use Sci-Hub. I mean, can you imagine a world where knowledge is free and easily accessible to everyone? Even, y'know, poor people?

Libgen also has many books online, including textbooks, searchable by name, author, and ISBN. Can you imagine textbook companies not getting their hard-earned income from poor college students? Here is the link just so you make sure that you never accidentally stumble across this horrible, unethical website.

Oh, and while we’re talking about books, if you’ve managed to stay clear from Libgen, definitely don’t go to zlibrary, where you can also find a lot of textbooks, but unfortunately they’re completely free.

Reblogging so you know which sites to totally avoid

The number one funniest example of people inventing bullshit reasons ships they don't like are "problematic" that I've ever seen was people calling Brienne of Tarth and Jaime Lannister "like siblings".

Fam.

Have you forgotten the number one most notable trait about Jaime Lannister.

Never seen/read GOT, be right back, gotta look something up.

Oh.
