i hate to be that guy, but the idea that gender, sex, and sexuality are ontologically pure concepts that can be rigidly defined if we simply police our language enough (our english language, because of course) is—i cannot stress this enough—a total waste of time. you may as well spend your afternoons teaching a brick how to swim
you probably thought today was a normal Monday. nooooope. strong as fuck ice mummy again, sorry.
I keep seeing people recommending Open Office as an alternative to Word, and uh... look, it is, technically, an open source alternative to Word. And it can do a lot of what Word can, genuinely! But it is also an abandoned project that hasn't been updated in nine years, and there's an active fork of it which is still receiving updates, and that fork is called LibreOffice, and it's fantastic.
Seriously, if you think that your choices are either "grit your teeth and pay Microsoft for a subscription" or "support free software but have a kind of subpar office suite experience", I guarantee that it's because you're working with outdated information, or outdated software. Most people I know who have used the latest version of LibreOffice prefer it to Word. I even know a handful of people who prefer it to Scrivener.
Open Office was the original project, and so it has the most name recognition, and as far as I can tell, that's really the only reason people are still recommending it. It's kind of like if people were saying "hey, the iPhone 14 isn't your only smart phone option!" but then were only ever recommending the Samsung Galaxy S5 as an alternative. LibreOffice is literally a version of the same exact program as Open Office that's just newer and better – please don't get locked into using a worse tool just because the updated version of the program has a different name!
humans are a subspecies of elf known for dying really quickly and being stressed the whole time
We lose everytime a girl in fiction who is on the masc side and happy with it becomes very feminine as a supposed sign of maturity
the biggest betrayal from humanity was ever making the tomboy/masc character have a femme/cishet glow-up. No problem with a tomboy growing up to be a femme, but framing being masc as childish, as a phase, as a problem, and having the femme glow-up a sign of maturity and growth and as a solution will always kill a little part of everyone's media literacy.
i was about to say this is at the Toronto airport and then suddenly it definitely. Was. Not.
Israel’s genocidal assault has killed or injured over 2 percent of Palestinian children in Gaza over the course of just six months, Save the Children has reported. In the months since October 7, Israel’s assault has killed over 13,800 children in Gaza and injured over 12,000 children, according to counts by UN officials and the Gaza Ministry of Health cited by Save the Children. This means that Israel has killed or injured at least 25,800 children in Gaza, or over 1 in every 50 children living in the region before the assault.
Previous reports have found that Israel is killing and injuring children at a rate that is unprecedented compared to any modern conflict. On average, Israel has killed about 75 children in Gaza each day over the course of the last six months, while many of the children who have survived have sustained lifelong injuries; an average of over 10 children are having one or both legs amputated every day in Gaza. Doctors in the region say that Israeli snipers have also been targeting children.
And *every* child has lifelong, generational trauma. They'll go through the rest of their lives remembering what happened these past 6 months, knowing the world looked on as their families and friends were being slaughtered and did absolutely nothing.
Maids, cleaners, janitors, and sanitation workers are all the most important people of civilization by far. Even 12 hours without them is VERY noticable and they simply need to be highly compensated for it
'Six AM', 1930 - William Wolfson
Hi, I'm a janitor. The facility I work in had its first floor flooded with sewage and while a restoration company came and sucked up all the water and placed fans everywhere to try the place out, I still cleaned the entire floor and threw away all the contaminated furniture. Same thing happened last year, but only a couple of rooms flooded on that floor and it was only water from a sprinkler system. This year was so much worse and I feel like no one in management gives a shit. The entire upstairs was absolutely going to shit because I was focused on the downstairs. Despite the work I do, I have to beg folks to spread around my little bear commission posts every month because I simply can't afford to live on what I'm paid lol
So, truly thanks to everyone who makes and shares posts like these recognizing sanitation workers. It's really a thankless job.
i still can't stop thinking about this
Safa Qandil returned home to Khan Yunis in southern Gaza on Monday only to find that she no longer has one. Thousands of displaced Gazans have been trudging back through the apocalyptic landscape of the devastated city after the Israeli army pulled out on Sunday following months of fierce fighting with Hamas militants. But as often as not it is to find their home is no longer there." We hoped we would find the house or the remnants of it or take something from it to cover us," Qandil, 46, told AFP. "We did not find the house," she said. That is not, however, the worst of her loss. Her son and his pregnant wife were killed by the Israeli army, she said. "My tragedy is great," she said, adding that the army also killed her daughter-in-law's "father, brother, sister, aunt and the rest of her family in a very heinous crime." "It is unnatural and indescribable," she said. "In every house there is a martyr (someone dead), a wounded person, words cannot describe the magnitude of the devastation and the suffering we experienced.
hobby crafts and great and everyone should get into a hobby craft, but I really really really really need people to do at least a little bit of research into what they’re interested in and learn important things such as that fact that polymer clay, air-dry clay, and resin are NOT food safe. yes that includes clay that’s been coated in a clear coat like mod podge (the dishwasher safe mod podge is not food safe)
the reason that some* ceramics are food safe is because glazes melt into essentially a thin layer of glass on the surface, and the clay is heated to a temperature that vitrifies it. and I say some because not all ceramics/glazes/firing temps are food safe, and that’s a whole other deep dive of research for people who get into ceramics. but the point is that most people can’t do that at home, so they look into non-ceramic materials and assume that’s a cheaper and easier way to make food-safe items, when really what’s going to happen is all these materials will leach into your food, especially with heat applied
also can resin creators wear proper PPE with gloves and respirator, I am begging you, that shit is toxic to touch and inhale

"illiberal"? GOOD‼️
This is like such an annoying thing to say because this is the definition of peaceful protest that they go on about like what do you want us to do?? Just another facade to really enforce that it doesn't matter what any oppressed group does, the ruling class' comfort and safety always outweighs our right for self determination.
