The Zepotha person is really trying to make this whole thing canon and isn’t even disclosing in the contest guidelines who’ll get to keep the rights of the short films once they’re submitted. Where will she stream it? And how much is she going to make from this? Plus, she recently mentioned that she’s been in contact with Columbia Records. This whole thing seems so murky right now and I don’t understand how people are just blindly supporting this. Her entire marketing scheme is just her filling in the gaps of her lack of creativity with everyone else’s ideas and art. She even failed to give credit to the person who created the movie poster she’s using to promote her contest.
I think this might be an effort for her to claim further “ownership” of this idea by being the one who decides which idea is canon. There’s even a possibility that she might use the short film for her music video and album promo?

Listen I know we collectively hate it for the hollow marketing but an 80’s scifi horror film by itself doesn’t sound bad, so:
- Hear me out: aliens
- That symbolize how society hurts kids who fail to conform
- So this takes place at a Summer camp for so-called “delinquents”
- Resident JerkTM gets a redemption arc
- And some low-key queer-coding
- Just the image of him frantically bashing against a locked door open w a canoe oar because it was the only thing he had on hand
- And the others huddling together behind him in fear
- Tons of visual horror taking full advantage of 80’s visual effects
- Canon lesbian paired w typical 80’s homophobia (Person A for now)
- BUT she also has queer-coding w one of the other girls (Person B for now)
- In the sense that some of the Person B’s actions and motivations DO NOT make sense if she doesn’t have a crush on Person A
- Person A dies protecting Person B in a culmination of her tragic arc of failed self-preservation
- She spent her whole life being looked down upon and tossed aside for the way people see her so she tends to look out for solely herself and drop people before they can
- And when she sacrifices herself for Person B, it’s because she’s the one person in the world she’s found it in herself to care about in years

Watching kids on Tiktok run with Zepotha then seeing them make Tiktoks like "I'm a film major and I really want to make this! Sign up to act in it!" and "I'm starting a go fund me to make Zepotha real!" is so crazy to me. They are reliving our history. Haven't they learned? Haven't they heeded our warnings from "All or Nothing" or "Miss Officer and Mr. Truffles"? Yes Goncharvo was done better but you fail to see the real storm thats coming, I predict ball pit 2: the reckoning at the rate this new generation is going.
Nah but scrolling through Zepotha on tumblr is really showing how legit allergic to fun some of you are. Y'all actually sound SO dumb being like "Errr u will never b goncharov" LIKE BROOO the idea of "media that isn't actually real" is a relatively common idea
also, it's inconsistent/unagreed upon bc IT WAS LEGITAMETLY MADE YESTERDAYYYY, even if that wasn't the case inconsistency is like half the fun!
only valid critique i've seen is that people are getting too into the joke and not tagging unreality and such, but i think it should be noted that this issue is common in similar things and ARGs as well, not necessarily only with Zepotha
