anyways controversial onion here but no sorry i dont give a shit if i see homeless people using drugs right infront of me as i walk down the street, if you want to complain about it you can go sit in your house and be grateful that you have one to feel better

Avatar

I will never validate any complaint about the unhoused tbh, "they go to the bathroom in the street" because they dont have anywhere else to go, "theyre an eyesore" where do you want them to go? look the other fucking way then, "they should just go to a shelter" clearly youre unaware of how unsafe shelters are and how much autonomy they take away from you theyre practically a slaughterhouse for people, "they should just get a job" ok I challenge you to see who wants to employ you when youre clothed in rags and have no home address, you also cant open a bank account when you have no home address, "theyll spend any money you give them on drugs" dont give a shit, im still gonna give them the change in my pocket because withdrawals are deadly. I will never side with someone when they complain about the homeless. Ever.

i learned that actor Danny Trejo has the most on-screen deaths of anyone in Hollywood history, with 65. Followed by Christopher Lee (60), Lance Henriksen (51), Vincent Price (41), Dennis Hopper (41), Boris Karloff (41), and John Hurt (39). (x)

Yet poor Sean Bean is stuck with the reputation for dying in every movie. Unfair.

Give him time, he still has many years of dying yet to come.

Also there’s the question of density vs quantity. If you make a hundred movies and die in 50, and someone else makes 30 movies and dies in 30, the first one has died more, but the second one has died more often per movie.

It’s the DPM ratio that really counts, IMO.

65/402 16% Danny Trejo 60/282 21% Christopher Lee 51/259 20% Lance Henriksen 41/211 19% Vincent Price 41/205 20% Dennis Hopper 41/204 20% Boris Karloff 39/209 19% John Hurt 33/117 28% Sean Bean

I’m so proud of the statistical side of tumblr for coming through on this.

the idea of open borders really doesn’t seem radical at all to me. like, from having traveled in the eu and between scotland and england/northern ireland and the republic, i’ve seen that it can and does work. what seems extreme to me is letting people drown at sea, especially when it’s being done by the eu??

Avatar

the eu having internal open borders but then having an extremely hard border around it is an act of racism. i don’t think i’m exaggerating by saying that, europeans are free to enter where african and asian refugees are forbidden

i dont understand how he/him lesbians and she/her gays are so confusing to people

Avatar

they're. they're just using. pronouns. they're just using pronouns that's all

Avatar

some of you will be like "respect everyone's pronouns or else😡" and then when a cis gay man uses she/her pronouns you suddenly don't understand how to use correct pronouns bc you don't think it matches with her sexuality, or a cis lesbian woman will use he/him pronouns and you'll harass him for not being feminine enough and accuse him of being trans or whatever. like can some of you people make up your damn minds do you respect people's pronouns or is your respect only for people you can strictly label and understand lmao.

sorry to be part of the elitist intelligentsia but i do think you have to read the text you have an opinion on if you expect your opinion to be taken seriously

I didn't read this post but i disagree tbh

Anonymous asked:

sorry if this has already been asked/answered, but do you have any thoughts on the orcas that have been attacking boats? genuinley curious whats going on there behaviourly and paychologically

So it seems this unusual behavior started when the pod’s matriarch, known to researchers as Gladis, was struck and injured by a boat propeller. The most viable theory is that Gladis then lashed out in an act of extreme frustration. Subsequently, she either taught her offspring the same behavior or—more likely—they observed her and decided to try it out for themselves. Mimicry is a huge part of how intelligent, highly social cetaceans like killer whales learn.

Since most of the attacks are perpetrated by youngsters, I’m honestly chalking it up to kids being dumb. Orcas, especially as juveniles, are very playful and very destructive, and this is all a super fun game. Far less likely, but still possible I suppose, is that they now truly see the boats as threats and are neutralizing them.

As fun as the memes about the orca uprising have been, there is no malice or vengeance at work here. To claim so is blatant anthropomorphism (but hey, people anthropomorphizing killer whales, what else is new). Hopefully, the behavior dies down soon, before another orca is hurt by a propeller or, worse, humans decide to put an end to it.

Because if there’s one animal that practices revenge, it’s the human being.

The fact that they’re basically taking the boats apart without hurting the people does suggest that it’s a play behavior. They almost certainly don’t understand the magnitude of what they’re doing or how it poses a danger to them. If there’s one trait they do share with us, it’s the hubris of apex predators.

hyperempathetic followers can now rest easy knowing the oceangate missing people have been dead for days and didn't feel a thing when it happened. low empathy followers can be bummed out that they found the wreckage so we can no longer gleefully imagine the passengers slowly freezing to death. normal followers (everyone in the middle) can be reasonably irritated that untold money was spent going after these idiots when poor disenfranchised people die all the time. if you learned about the migrant tragedy in the mediterranean sea thru this that's good (i did too), it's ALWAYS a good time to love and support refugees, migrants, n impoverished people. we have FAR more in common with them than we do the rich.
