After an oversized “Treasury Edition” adaptation of the film in 1976, the subsequent ongoing 2001 comic ran for ten issues, all produced by the legendary Kirby, who explored the movies themes and concepts in his own unique manner.

I've been buying Wayward exclusively from the Image Comics digital storefront instead of comiXology on the assumption that the creative team gets a larger cut of the revenue (based on your 2012 blog post breaking down the revenue split for Image Comics titles on comiXology). Is this an accurate assumption? (BTW, I understand if you can't answer or are uncomfortable answering this question.)

I checked over the Accrual statements I receive from Image twice a year that go over reorders, trade sales, and digital. Some really interesting stuff in there. It can vary quite a bit (due to sales discounts, bundle deals, and things like that) but, by and large, that is still correct. The Image Digital store front seems to consistently pay creators the largest chunk of revenue compared to other digital platforms. It’s not a huge difference all things considered but hey, every penny adds up.

Thank you so much for going to the extra effort to find out which service benefits creators the most. I feel great when readers are buying my work through pretty much any platform, but going that extra mile is greatly appreciated.

I wanted to put a reference to masturbation in one of the scripts for the Sandman. It was immediately cut by the editor. She told me, “There’s no masturbation in the DC Universe.” To which my reaction was, “Well that explains a lot about the DC Universe.”

Just got back from a great signing at Midtown Comics. Did a short interview while there, you can listen here, as well as Brad Walker, Tom King and this Scott Snyder fella, who I’ve never heard of before.

HOWARD THE DUCK #11 Chip Zdarsky (W/VC), Joe Quinones (A/C), John Tyler Christopher (AFVC), Jamal Campbell (VC).

• Join Zdarsky and Quinones as they say goodbye to Howard in a very special Issue that is still priced as a regular Issue! • Can Howard outwit fate? Can any of us? Or is the concept of predestination just shorthand for the near-infinite factors in play that are guided, at their core, by free will? • Guest-starring Spider-Man, probably. 32 pages, $3.99.

IT’S TRUE! HOWARD THE DUCK IS ENDING!

Joe and I knew from the beginning that we had a story to tell and that the story had an ending, so this has been planned almost from the start when Wil Moss hired us to reboot everyone’s favourite talking duck. Knowing this was coming up was surprisingly hard for me! I knew we had an ending, but I love the book so much it’s hard to walk away from it! But it feels right for me, for Joe, and for the character, who will no doubt thrive with a new creative team down the line.

I’m insanely proud of the thirteen issues we’ve done so far, and of the three we have left. It’s not over yet!

<SNIFF>

The end is nigh for Chip and I on Howard the Duck. Though we’d planned ahead to have a conclusion for our run, it was a hard decision to stick to. I’ve really grown to love Howard and this cast of characters, due in no small part to the AMAZING team I’ve gotten to work with in Wil Moss and Chip Zdarsky - not to mention Rico Renzi, Jordan Gibson, Joe (and Paolo) Rivera, Kevin Maguire, and more. We’ve still got some more to go though! Be sure to come back for issues 9 through 11. We’re gonna have a lot of fun on the way to the finish line.

No, I’m not crying. Just got a feather stuck in my eye.

What was it like meeting Krysten Ritter for the first time at the Peabody award's and when you first created Jessica Jones did you ever imagine the character would one day be so well received like this?

the peabody’s was crazy!  and of course not.  no.

krystin and carrie anne were both fabulous. i had already met the writer’s before and stay in semi frequent contact with Melissa the showrunner. but to have her bring me on stage and take a real moment to point me out was very nice.  you can see it on pivot in june.

it was lovely to be invited but its right in the middle of a bunch of stuff going on. my wedding anniversary, the launch of civil war 2 and powers season 2, and just normal life craziness… all high class problems but i wasn’t sure i could manage it. i was told by someone who knows better i should go because when am i ever going to get asked again.  they were right.

beyond the fact that we were at this SUPER FANCY rather serious affair of serious filmmakers and newspeople winning awards for really haunting excellent work that comics people never get invited to, suddenly we’re in a room with steve martin, david letterman and jon stewart… AT THE SAME TIME.

the entire cast of the daily show, aziz ansari… i was in comedy nerd heaven.

I WAS IN THE SAME ROOM AS STEVE MARTIN!!

my best joke of the night was to jeph loeb: hey, remember the wizard awards. :)
