Would you look at this masterpiece

Via @alexrybakofficial on TikTok

For context:

The violinist is Alexander Rybak, a Belorussian violinist whose family defected from the USSR to Norway. One of the songs he’s mashing up is his own “Fairytale”, Norway’s entry that won the 2009 Eurovision.

The other song, which is the one playing on the amp, is “Stefania” by the Kalush Orchestra, Ukraine’s entry that won the 2022 Eurovision. The song is about the writer’s own mother, and also about mothers who protect their children from war. Once Russia invaded, the song became a war anthem.

So this isn’t just a gorgeous piece of music. It’s a political piece about unity between people who have been oppressed by the same empire.

You know. Reading is important. Because I'm like always trying to make every line I write this groundbreaking mindfucking art but like. A book is 90% just saying what happened. "I hugged him around the waist." "The chair was brown and overstuffed." "I woke up alone." Etc etc. Like normal ass lines. I just keep comparing my boring, necessary to set a scene lines, with famous authors' absolute best lines and like.... every line doesn't have to shatter the earth. Sometimes someone just sits in a chair and the lines that wreck you come later, one at a time, here and there. It's alright.

This is super common and I wish we were taught when we begin to write that those quoted lines are also in a sea of the same sort of setup we obsess over not being 'good enough'. I saw multiple people drop out of writing courses over this in college. Sure, sometimes you need a better way to describe something prevalent or to pinpoint an emotion, but if EVERYTHING was written in that sort of tone for a whole book it would prove utterly exhausting to read.

Also, if every single line in the book was hard-hitting and mindblowing, then it wouldn't be memorable because it would be drowned out.

The best lines are famous because they stand out.

This is true I think, everyone just has very normal and even-minded thoughts and opinions about transfeminine sexuality

I know I've been over this but man HRT is good stuff. I wanna shake the hand of whoever invented it. It's a crime that I don't know who that is actually. They're more important than Einstein

id also been really curious about the history of hrt so i had some tabs open:

The first hrt treatments were mostly estrogen extracted during pregnancies to be used for menopause symptoms, but the first usage of those medicines for trans women is credited to the world's first Trans Clinic, opened in pre-WW2 Germany by Magnus Hirschfield, a gay jewish man.

Oh he looks delightful

Thank you grandpa

The comparasion to Einstein was actually made at the time too! He was commonly refered to as “the Einstein of sex”, to which he supposedly once replied that he would rather Einstein be called “the Hirschfeld of physics” lmao

Oh my god

reblog if you fw the einstein of sex

reblog if you will now call einstein the hirschfeld of physics

At first, Tsuhati taught "fluffy boy" how to survive on the streets…

And then he became his right wing in all daring adventures... P.S.: Wow, I didn't think I'd find people who would like my Guardians of Ga'Hoole OCs. You gave me a great boost to develop this idea and start drawing them again!!

On Otulissa, and her similarities to the villains.

I don’t have to go into why she’s such a loved character, I could gush so much about Otulissa just in general, any day of the week, but there’s something curious about her growth and development throughout the series.

Otulissa is a very fun character, because she very much, more often than not, acts as a foil to the major and sometimes minor villains. Most notably to The Striga and Gemma, yet surprisingly, also to Nyra.

While I wouldn’t go so far as to call Otulissa and Nyra foils, they are connected and quite similar, Otulissa is the one who gave Nyra her scar, after all.

This is actually the best intro to a porno that has ever existed

There is no way this is a porno

This is the best porno there has ever been.

The way he says “HEY WHAT THE FUCK” shaped me as a person

It’s been over a decade, and I still think “I’m a lemon stealing whore” to myself every time I take fruit off a lemon tree.

Which isn’t often, but it’s often enough.

My roommates boyfriend is a cis male business student who is still figuring out the whole "having a trans partner" thing. He struggles with the whole they/them thing but we don't really mind because the boy is clearly trying is heart out, and we all appreciate that.

He recently told me that he puts "nonbinary" on his insurance forms because, and I quote "they give you a lower premium if you're not a man."

He thought it was funny in a "I found a fun insurance loophole that I shall share with these be-prononed folks!" Kinda way.

I was losing my shit because this cis man is literally Transgender for insurance reasons.

Also I have absolutely zero idea if being nonbinary actually gets you lower premiums but he told me that was true and thats funny enough for me.

obviously dietary requirements aren't a joke but my grandma sometimes runs errands for her church and i asked her what she's up to today and she said extremely seriously "ive got to track down the body of the gluten free christ, julia"

this totally scans for a swear intensifier btw. what in the gluten free christ is going on here, Julia

> Americans

You might wanna double check that one, just saying.

NASA is an American organisation even when foreign journalists report on them

NASA is calling it 34 meters, because NASA uses the metric system.

This article is by an Israeli journalist who apparently really likes borzois, and spends half the article infodumping about them.

I used to be in a creative writing group with the guy and I promise you this is absolutely normal for him.

Quite possibly the funniest thing you could have added to this post.

For anyone suffering from anxiety, the asteroid passed Earth on March 18, 2023.

found an article about this guy, highlighting his love for very unhelpful ways to talk about asteroids and also:

Reich grew up in New York and moved to Israel when he was 17.

Americans will use anything but the metric system.

Camel fact: They're incredibly flexible and can kick in any direction. You are not safe from a camel kick just because you're standing in front or to the side

Camel fact: They have tough pads on their chest to raise their bodies off the ground when resting. This helps them cool off

This pad is called a pedestal and it's literally a part of their skeleton

Rumors say they use the pedestal to crush threats to death but I have not found any evidence of this. They prefer kicking and biting.
