Random endless shithole : watch my various hyper-fixations in live time :)

Succession and Abbott Elementary really revived my joy of weekly releases this year because it's so fun to experience fantastic storytelling alongside a large group. You feel like you're a part of something bigger. The hype and the theories are fantastic. It's a wholesome (well, sort of wholesome in Succession's case) time and binge-watching a season of television that's released in one go simply isn't the same.

Anyway, this is just my way of saying that I think season two of The Bear should have weekly releases because that would be so much more fun than having all the episodes released in one go.

also kendall being nearly silent for most of the episode, compared to how loud everyone else was being, and then out of the blue he goes and delivers an insane line like ‘maybe the poison drips through’

jesse armstrong describing 4x08 as shocking is so fun because he’s right! but what’s shocking about it is how completely NOT shocking it is. every character behaves exactly like you would expect multi-billionaires running a capitalist corporation to behave in a situation like this. and what’s shocking is that we’ve become so attached to them that seeing them be truly as Evil as their position in society makes them, regardless of their personal problems and traumas, is almost a surprise. almost.

Just saw someone call the writers themselves the problem… media literacy is truly dead the day we cannot consume art that parallels real life without accusing the creators of holding these beliefs. Calling the writers misogynists for showing what happens to real life women in conservative circles? Getting mad when REPUBLICAN BILLIONAIRES are written to do horrible things? There’s absolutely zero nuance to any posts about the new episode on twitter and it really sucks because that was one of the most realistic episodes of television about America that I think we’ve ever seen. Coming for the television writers of what’s literally the best written show out right now when they are literally striking…. what is wrong with people??? the writers are not the problem, America and conservatives and the real life people in these rooms inspiring these stories are the problem. The show isn’t just fiction, these are real things happening to real people, it’s bigger than you wanting your favorite character to win or your ship to be canon.

Mencken's victory speech and "We could have something clean" (plays into fascist obsession with ideas of purity vs. impurity; the siblings use 'piece of dirt' and 'filth' this episode to delegitimize each other) speaks even more directly to Kendall's heart than Shiv's "Youre a good guy". Kendall always looking for the perfect imaginary blank slate. Always looking for the clean start (overthrow my dad and things will change, sue my dad and things will change, acquire PGN and things will change). Always looking for a world in which he did not leave a man to drown to his death. But it's all soiled, no good

it's not even cringe; it's just personal and unpolished and you've been taught to flinch away from vulnerability which doesn't mock itself

everyone is all like "why does no one write love letters anymore" when the simple answer to that is, that vulerability and the unapologetic and unironic pouring out of ones emotions is almost always ridiculed in some way so
