Brennan Lee Mulligan's anti-capitalist origin story

In the the most recent Fireside Chat for World's Beyond Number (episode 7 "Kahuna", available on their Patreon), Erika prompts Brennan to talk about "that crazy Christmas party you went to".
Brennan recounts an experience from when he was struggling to get by as a young performer/writer in New York City. His day job was as a caterer, and they had been hired to cater an ultra-wealthy NYC Christmas Party. It's full of details of gross decadence, but focuses on on what affected him the most:
"The thing that really fucked me up [about that party was that] I was at a period in my life [living] in New York where I was like 'Yea, I'm really hungry and scared all the time, but I'm living the bohemian dream! I'm a struggling artist! When I go out on the weekend and I'm dancing with my friends, no one will ever feel the depth of joy I feel [because it comes from] struggling and grinding out here with my friends."
"[Then, at that Christmas party,] I saw those rich heirs and heiresses dance... and they were having a better time than me, and it wasn't close! I watched these rich people dance with the most reckless abandon, and their faces [wore an expression reflecting that] 'We're having a great time, uncomplicatedly! We're not examining this! It's so fun!'... and then I heard my stomach [growl]."

Until the Fireside Chat, I wasn't sure if the story was a work of fiction or if it was inspired by something real.

For those interested, we use 2 additional tables along with the default one, for wild magic effects, each one having its separate number assigned on a d20 since the chances of wild magic were increased for Ignis. Due to that, first you have to roll to actually get the table that it is on, then you have to roll on the table that has 100 effects, and then roll on an additional table that has the potions listed, since the effect is of a random potion. This is the second time that it has happened. Along with another effect that makes other people's clothes invisible when wet, so now Rick, his companion, has a collection of clothing that is specifically invisible when wet. There is a theme here with Ignis, and its getting quite telling.
I'll probably be deleting a lot of my unglazed works in general, and find the time to reupload them glazed. I hate AI/ML, don't support it in any way, especially as it is, and I'd rather choke on a potato than contribute to its databases in any way if i can help it. Aside from polluting it with Glaze that is.

I’m male whenever I’m on Brazilian soil because when I applied for a visa, the lady didn’t believe I was a cis woman and put male on my documents even after I complained twice, so I’m also amab (Assigned Male At BrazilianBorder)

While this is funny this really should highlight to people how deep transphobia runs. It diesn’t matter if you’re cis or trans, strangers in the world will just DECIDE based on apparent visual indicators that simply arent accurate. Cis women are not excempt from harrassment and being accused of being “secretly a man”. All arguments about single-sex spaces crumble when perceptiona of what women SHOULD look like simply arent accurate at all.
And even for simple admin errors, it highlighrs further how much these systems do not care about you. They won’t change your gender on your papers regardless of if you are or aren’t trans. It’s a simple mis-click that could result in you being accused of something like fraud and no one is going to listen to you or take your complaints seriously to fix it before that happens.
Tranaphobia is not exclusive to trans people, its a far wider issue and its time transphobes (and TERFs especially) picked up on that reality and realised what theyre actually doing to themselves.
For teaching purposes; let's take a moment and point out racist code words individuals are starting to use online, like; “Jogger.” Mostly used by; White Supremacists! They have started to use certain code words for the N-Word after Ahmaud Arbery's Death... Over recent years, online extremists have been constructing a shared, private language that they use to dog-whistle in public, online arenas without having to worry about getting banned for hate speech on social platforms. “Jogger” is just one latest example.
