when i woke up this morning, my first thought was ‘no one visits my grave anymore’ and i was really sad for a few minutes so i lay on my bed with my eyes shut and then all of a sudden i opened my eyes and was like ‘wait i don’t have a grave what the fuck’

You would think that the biggest risk of trying out something new is that you won't like it, but it's when it's so good it raises your standards where the real problems start

As you can see the tinted lenses have been a thing for a long time.
there is a very real tendency of teenagers with anxiety disorders self diagnosing with considerably more stigmatized and impairing mental illnesses (e.g. schizophrenia, DID, personality disorders), but the best response to that isn't to get angry with them for "appropriating" lol. instead you show them coping resources for the problems they're actually having and deemphasize diagnostic categories in general. if an 18 year old is claiming to have alzheimer's, they're probably making an innocent mistake and are in genuine distress. be kind.
Also I think this trend comes, at least in part, from how brushed aside anxiety disorders can be. If your parents and teachers dismiss you with 'oh everyone feels anxious', then inevitably you're going to start thinking that there must be something else going on with you
”You must feel very scared right now; let’s talk about how to help you personally, tailored to your symptoms” will always be more helpful than “stop faking (X) for attention”. If theyre that desperate for attention or an explanation, something is wrong.
And like, at least some of them are probably right. Yeah these disorders are less common than things like anxiety disorders, but they are more common than you think they are. Like, they probably shouldn't self diagnose without doing a reasonable amount of research and talking to a professional if possible, but not every single one of them is wrong, and being wrong about something is not the same thing as lying about having something you don't. Be nice to teenagers they're still learning

Headcanon. Headcanon. Headcanon. A billion stamps of “approved”. Yes. Just yes.

Sorry, I could never be a capitalist, I suffer from “wanting humans to have their basic needs met” disorder, where I care about people who aren’t me.
Someone once asked me if, assuming we got universal healthcare, I would be okay with the rise in “healthcare tourism” where people who are sick come to our country to get their medical bills taken care of and life-saving medical treatment cheaper than in their home countries. I was just like, yeah thats fine, I’d actually prefer it if 0 people died from preventable causes kept behind a paywall for no reason.
“even the addicts?” yeah dude did i fucking stutter
This already happens in other places and it doesn’t strain the countries’ healthcare systems nearly as much as ppl might assume. All of this is just a smokescreen for the maintenance of the for-profit healthcare industry.
The aggravating process of having to motivate yourself to do something you actually want to do
“Your art isn’t valued by the number of notes you get” okay but. If you spent 6 hours baking a cake for a party, but no one at the party eats your cake, it’s still disappointing.
This articulates something about the different between value and validation that I didn’t previously register on a conscious level.
This is why I tell people I feel more like an entertainer than an artist.
I want to hear them laugh, chat, comment, speak, roar, cry, get irrationally angry, I need people to respond to my art and get inspired and need more.
I don’t want a note, I want a response.
Responses are very nice. I like reading over them. They make me feel fuzzy. Of course, likes and reblogs are also very appreciated, but responses make me feel a special kinda fuzzy.
That’s the thing about the “oh, create for yourself, don’t worry about other people!” attitude (that almost exclusively comes from non-artists and people who have tons of followers and routinely get tons of validation for SOME reason) that doesn’t quite work. I guarantee you, most of us already ARE creating for ourselves above all-
But we POST our creations for human connection, and that’s not a bad thing.
I’m not sure when we all got to the point where wanting validation for something you worked hard at is seen as a bad thing. That you’re pathetic for wanting.
If you think that way it’s not only toxic as hell it’s killing creators.
Creating isn’t easy. When there’s nobody to look at your work and say, “You did a good job. This was hard.” The drive and ambition disappears, then so does the work.
Give your content creators value.

if you find yourself seeing "convenience" products and thinking "how lazy do you have to be to buy/use this", please take a moment to consider that 9/10 of these are in fact made for disabled people. one-handed or mechanical cheese slicers/graters, electric tin openers, pre-cut packaged food, and a lot of other things exist because there are people in the world who have no other option. who only have one hand, who dont have the strength to use a tin opener, who cant use a knife, who require things to be made a little easier in order to do them at all. and often they are then marketed as convenience products because selling them to the general public justifies the manufacture and development costs, while keeping prices low enough that they are accessible to those they're actually made for.
if your first thought is "this is for lazy people", please take a little time to re-evaluate what meaning and connotations you ascribe to that word, and whether you are inadvertently being ableist. it'll help make you a lot more understanding towards us and our needs in future.
laziness is an ableist myth, pass it on

Every time I see companies selling """punk""" jewellery or clothing I become apoplectic with rage. Just saw a £65 padlock necklace advertised to me bitch Fuck you go to your nearest weird little shop that sells everything in the world including fake Rolexes and bongs the size of a toddler. Buy a thing of chain and a padlock. Borrow some bolt cutters someone you know will probably own some and if not get some cheap ones or borrow from a local tool library. Slap em together. Maximum cost £30 and that's MAXIMUM that's assuming you bought over a metre of expensive heavy chain AND bought the bolt cutters. You can do it for under a fiver with a wallet chain and pliers. I still wear a necklace I made when I was 15 out of a wallet chain and pliers and a padlock I got in a set of 3 from poundland. If the issue is dexterity or otherwise disability related then find a friend and swap a favour with them it'll still be cheaper than these scamming poser companies and will help you build community and share resources. Something which is actually punk. Fuckin. Capitalist posers
Important to keep in mind there's a distinction here between 'someone who paints and sells patches in their own small business' (cool, craftsmanship, usually very fairly priced for materials and labour while still affordable for punks who don't have that skillset to buy, honestly not a category far removed from 'if you buy me lunch I can paint your jacket' exchanges) and big companies who charge extortionate prices for something that's supposed to be counterculture, paying staff minimum wage and making huge profits the workers will never see a penny of (cunts)
in case nobody here follows esc outside of tumblr/youtube/tv, there's a LOT of drama going on right now on the eurovision official social media because people are complaining this year's contest was a bit rigged so sweden could win 👀
