i reckon a lot of ppl consuming tv and film these days would benefit from remembering that relationships between adults do not solely exist in a binary paradigm of romantic/platonic. often adults have complicated relationships with one another that can't be neatly labelled as one thing - and media depicting this earnestly is not baiting, tricking you, or being unrealistic. what is unrealistic is treating stories about adults, written by adults, for adults as if they ought to have the textual integrity of a children's cartoon.
