Under the wallpapers
On the shreds of old wallpapers of synthetic silk and scraps of magazines, the well-deserved St. Petersburg artist Grigory Lysak creates abstract expressionist works that expand the boundaries of contemporary art. Grigory Lysakโs canvases are painted in oil, reminiscent of Jackson Pollockโs paintings and collages by Hannah Hรถch. They are supplemented by fragments of majestic architecture of the Past and seemingly quoted from the description of the Kรถln collage (by Max Ernst): โโฆ collage technique is the systematic exploitation of an accidental or artificially provoked connection of two or more alien realities in a clearly inappropriate environment for them, and a spark of poetry that flares up approximation of these realities.โ The creative life of Grigory Lysak is similar to the living dreams of many creators embodied in space and time. An architect by education, he engaged in ennobling, restoration of the northern capital of Russia. Fulfilling the order, he works on home-archaeological excavations, and they give him the material and an incentive for creation of paintings, amazing at stunning nuances of the colours and the brisk rhythm of strokes. Someone was building a business in the 90s, and others, who lived a century ago, had governesses who did not speak Russian, โ โDelovoy Peterburgโ and texts in German, once pasted on the wall, but now grey, tarnished, can tell about the life of the century better than any historian.

So I had a mighty desire to draw the parallels I saw between Gravity Falls and Over the Garden Wall. Each picture had gotten progressively more intricate, and the reason why I didnโt go back to add anything is because I thought it was fitting since both shows started out as something simple, but built up into something much more! ย
The last picture is just an extra I had doodled, and sorry about some of the quality, I only have my phone camera to take pictures with!ย
