It’s a mnemonic device, of which rhymes are some of the most effective. Think of how you first learned the ABCs - in a song. Math classes also put multiplication charts to music to help students better retain the information. It’s the same principle.
This is what I was saying about rhythm, rhyme and meter in song and poetry!!! It’s a technology for passing down information and that’s how we did it pre-written language!
