Hello People!

We’re Rob and Sma and we’re making a comic called Nalokan! Unfortunately we suck at art! So we’re looking for help! We already have a logo, which looks really cool, but that’s about it. No, but for real, we’ve been working on this story for six years and now we wanna get it to the people. We love this story!

Who we are:

We’re currently working on the script, so there won’t be any comic too soon, but we already wanna get involved with people, who could help us with our project. Of course we’d let you have a say in the script as well, so it’s not just doing the dirty work. We’re 25 and 29, queer as fuck and both involved with academic sociology. As to our way of working: We spent an hour making this post instead of working on the script, as planned. We’re also not doing it for profit or work, we’re just in too deep to just drop this baby at this point. We haven’t done anything of this sort before, so working with us would also mean figuring out how to webcomic. 

What Nalokan is about:

We’re basically starting where fiction usually ends. The victory over the enemy is always a happy end, right? But what happens to the characters afterwards? Just because you brought down a dictatorship together does that mean you have to be best friends for life? People are still different and miscommunication is still a thing. Also relationships are hard. So is ruling a country, but that’s secondary.

The setting is fantasy/ folklore-ish. Key aspects are diversity, liberation, identity exploring, family dynamics and Gods fucking up their subjects. Fighting and magic are in there too, but they’re not too central. We’re trying to explore how society works and with a focus on the individuals. There’s also some Faustian bargain shit going on. We’re aiming for the cast to be pretty diverse in background, talents, physics etc. Because we love it and we wanna see people like you and me in this shit!

What we’re looking for: 

So we’re looking for someone who has fun working on this kind of stuff over a longer period of time, since this won’t be a project that’s finished in a few weeks. Of course it’s also important that you have fun drawing people of different sizes, shapes and expressions, so the characters look as individual as they are. We only speak English and German, so it would be great if you could easily communicate in at least one of those as well. As said above, we won’t leave you hanging by saying “Draw a purple guy!” We’d provide you with faceclaims, concept arts and other resources. We’d talk over Discord and Tumblr.  Did we mention we love this shit?
