I’m so happy to tell you all that I’ve made great progress with my mental health!! To genuinely be able to say that I feel happy is so liberating and free! okay here’s the thing about recruiting kecleon
it’s possible, but just barely. they have a -49.5% recruitment rate, by far the lowest in the entire game. you can boost your recruitment odds in a number of ways. being level 90-100 gives you +25%, and holding the golden mask gives you +24%.
but wait, that still adds up to -0.5% recruitment for kecleon, which is still literally impossible!! well, the Fast Friend iq skill gives you an extra +1% to your rate, giving you a whopping 0.5% chance to recruit kecleon every time you defeat one, given you meet all these requirements. it’s why i’m using celebi here.
more things you absolutely need to do if you want to recruit one:
resetting will probably happen a lot but with preparation and patience you’ll get your kec eventually. there’s my handy hell lizard recruitment guide
the answer to that is a surprising “yes”, its IQ is reset to 0 (like all recruited pokemon) but its stats are ridiculous
the base stats in this game cap at 255 (because they’re counted by signed 8-bit binary) and it was one point off from hitting that cap when i recruited it. its hp is also ridiculously high at 282 despite only being level 42
so this makes it without any contest the single strongest pokemon you can have on your team in this game, stronger than mewtwo, stronger than dialga, everything. keep in mind you have to fight dozens of these at once to get one.
another thing: most pokemon have a small pool of phrases determined by their IQ group, but kecleon seems to have unique dialogue when you talk to it in and out of dungeons.
strange but cool detail to include for something that’s nearly impossible to get in the first place
Another thing that can help– going into the wall of a hallway, using a skill, mobile scarf, or being a ghost. They can’t (as far as I recall) attack you while you’re in the wall, and even if they can, it still forces them to come at you one at a time.

The “fuzz” from CRT monitors was something that was definitely accounted for and taken advantage of back in the day when it came to video games! While this effect is noticeable in 3D games, it’s MUCH more visible when it comes to 2D sprites:
Just look how much more depth these simple sprites of Princess Peach and Bowser from Super Mario RPG seem to have when seen through the “dots” of a CRT TV screen!

i didnt even know i was colorblind until i got pulled aside in gradeschool for coloring stuff wrong. it was a weird experience. and goin thru all these years seeing people hype up how pretty stuff is, especially in the summer with trees n flowers and all that, itd just be nice to finally see what the hype is about.

I LOVE this post and wanted to add some additional info, cause I see a lot of people who assume that drawing asian hair is the same as drawing white hair. This is not the case! There’s more to it than just the color.

Just like OP, I’m only one single person, so if anyone wants to correct me or add something I missed, then go for it. And further disclaimer, there are exceptions to everything I’ve said in this post, and it only applies to East and Southeast asian people who are either not mixed or white-mixed, as those are the hair types I’m most familiar with.
I’d like to add that there are Black people of non-African decent in Asia. We exist. So the whole “I won’t draw Black people in anime because it’s set in ~Asia~” is absolutely bullshit (besides the fact that those of African decent also live there). The so called “negrito” ethnic group is comprised of many different cultures throughout south and southeast Asia and are considered Black (they have dark skin and coiled ‘Afro-texture’ hair) Additionally, the Moluccan and Papuan people of southeast Indonesia are Black.
Also regarding hair, naturally curly hair absolutely is a thing in e/s/se Asia. Our hair runs the gamut from loose wavy curls to tight, kinky coiled hair.
Blonde or red hair and blue eyes are also possible in Maluku and Papua, due to genetic quirk that has nothing to do with having white heritage.
On to types of curly hair Asian people can have:

Curly hair is also common in south Asia. This is Aarti Sequeria, an Indian person with tighter curls.
Then we get to the tightest curls.

These are all people from Maluku and Papua in southeast Indonesia. This is their natural hair color and texture. Also note how warm their skin tone is. As a note, the reason these are all pictures of children is that more often than not, those with blonde hair as children will have their hair darken as they get older. Additionally, note how the roots are much darker than the ends. This is because most of the blonde hair comes from sun bleaching rather than it coming out of the scalp blonde.
My family is from Maluku and I have cousins with the same bright red hair, and both of their parents have dark brown/black hair. I also have family who have blue eyes, but both of their parents have brown eyes. So while it’s very, very uncommon, it is possible for an Asian person to be blonde. However, unless you are depicting someone from these areas, the blue eyes/blonde hair is still very much a don’t do this, especially if you are a white artist.
There are so many ways to look Asian. So many hair textures, so many skin colors. Asia is a lot more diverse than the west depicts it to be.
