During the final set of the 4 night stand (June 19-22), Paul collapsed. Legend has that that he was suffering from exhaustion, but Mick Campise sets the record straight; "He didn't actually collapse. It was just they didn't have anymore songs to do. They did three encores and the kids were going just absolutely crazy. So they did Deuce again and right at the end of Deuce, that was it, there was Paul lying on the stage. I remember JR picking up Paul by the arms, and I had him by the legs. We were walking up the stairs backstage when Paul opened his eye and blinked at me. That's when I knew he didn't pass out. I got him upstairs and said, "What the hell are you doing?" He said, "Man, we didn't have anymore songs to do, I had to do something. We couldn't keep playing the songs over and over."

After this show Paul was sick from June 23-July 5 forcing the band's cancellation of their involvement in all shows during the period, predominately when they would have been opening for Blue Oyster Cult and Nazareth. Paul's ailment was reported as strep throat in Billboard (7/13/1974).
