Question: in Merlin, do you think that Lancelot sacrificed himself because he promised Gwen he’d look after Arthur or because he knew Merlin was planning to sacrifice himself?

#i think its both overall #i think he figured out what merlin was going to do and saw it as the only way to protect arthur AND merlin.#and therefore also fulfill Gwen’s wish (though not in the way she would have wanted)

literally no one asked me this but i think about it a lot. one of the big reasons i love merlin so much is it is one of the only shows i watched growing up where it was seemingly both normal and okay for men to cry. where men are usually disparaged for showing Emotion or their Tears, or called weak when they showcase them, merlin was crying basically every other episode. and he's said to be the most powerful man to walk to earth.

#i truly cannot think of another show from the 2010s where a man would cry as often as merlin or arthur #i'm sure there are other examples tho.#it's not a perfect representation or anything. merlin's still called weak but. it's there.#idk just some musings
