and now i have to wait another long year to post this again
one of the things i’ve always loved about pinof is the throwback editing style - like the really clear constant jumpcuts after which they’re in a different spot in the room, the slightly random humor - mainly because it’s such a great reminder of how long they’ve been together. pinof1′s style fit right in amongst youtube videos of the time, but now that style stands out because it’s fallen out of fashion and it’s been so many years, yet they’re still together, and still making pinof every year, and ugh i’m not articulating this well but basically the style of the video makes me nostalgic and so happy that they’ve stayed together all this time

Honestly, I hope this video opens everyone’s eyes with how much Phil really does take care of Dan and protect him with everything he has. It showed so much in this video
The first time was when Phil encouraged Dan to eat on camera because it wasn’t that big of a deal. Dan was clearly a little nervous about it and Phil encouraged him with kind words and a carefree attitude that it was not big deal so Dan would be comfier
The second time was when Phil said it’s okay to not upload every week or every month. A lot of people get on Dan when he goes a long time without uploading and Phil was validating him anyway and saying he doesn’t have to upload and compare himself to other YouTubers. He even literally said, “I think people just want you to be happy” and no one can tell me that isn’t a “I just want you to be happy” in disguise
The third was when Phil said he didn’t know if the tour was going to happen because Dan wasn’t doing well. At this point they already had venues booked, shows sold out and a massive commitment, planes were probably all booked too, but because Dan was having a very mental breakdown, Phil didn’t know if he would be able to do it and literally basically said he would rather cancel the whole tour, let all of us, the subscribers down just to make sure Dan was okay and love him back to Earth
The fourth time was when Dan said sometimes he feels like he doesn’t have a personality. This can happen with people who have depression sometimes I think and Phil immediately stepped in and said, “You have a personality” because he knows Dan is kind, loving and caring, and funny and awkward and creative and so much more and he didn’t want him to feel bad that he sometimes acts different around different people which is completely normal btw Dan
This video was the most intimate and normal conversation we’ve ever had/seen with them and it truly showed because they were just being themselves and having a chat and because of that, how much Phil protects Dan from himself really showed, and it’s probably even more so when he camera isn’t on because Phil can be romantic while he does when the camera isn’t there. This is one of the best things to ever come out of a Dan and Phil video and I am so glad that Phil is there for Dan when he needs it

“Brand of water” look at our society, we need a good old fashioned culling.
The kid is just doing what he wants to better the world. He started a brand of bottled water that’s better for the environment and is responsibly sourcing everything from the bottle to the water. They’ve gone as far to work with a specific city and only bottle excess water and pay the city more than its actually worth so their water infrastructure can be improved. He’s also donating water to Flint until the lead levels are actually at safe levels because the government decided they don’t want to anymore.
If you’re gonna try to complain about a celebrity doing something at least be educated on what they’re actually doing first
