Meme's Refined here

@memery-refinery-horror

friendly reminder not to buy spiderpunk merch from major corporations.

it is disrespectful both to hobie's character and to punk culture. you cannot capialise on anticapitalism, you cannot capitalise on punk culture.

punk culture is directly opposite (counter-culture) to mainstream commercialisation and instituation. it's not all that marketable. major corporations do not need your money. small businesses do, and their merch is likely higher quality anyway.

that's not a joke, most hobie merch out there is ugly as fuck, and would break apart in a day.

along with that, reblog if your account is a non-binary spectrum safe space or owned by someone on the enby spectrum!

So I’m assuming you’re an epic Mickey fan (considering I’m just stumbling spin your account and seeing some Oswald art) what do you think about Disney possibly making it into a movie or giving Oswald a movie?! It was just rumores, but I think they should TOTALLY do it!! 🤩✨

IT'S ABOUT DAMN TIME THEY GIVE MY BOI OSWALD A MOVIE

Would love to see him in a full 2D animation movie (or 3D even!!) with him being the main star, Epic Mickey did it great and it showed us how possible it was to bring Oswald and Mickey together HOW ABOUT A FULL MOVIE DISNEY C'MONN

1000% agree here! Oswald is a strong character beyond his apparent dislike of Mickey- he's stubborn, impulsive, overconfident- but he's a father (One of the few in the Disney Toons to be one besides Goofy and someone else, I forget who) and a loving husband to Ortensia, his wonderful kitty cat wife! I've seen a lot of movies and shorts about Mickey and Minnie- Give me Ozzie and Ortensia! Give me a short about Oswald struggling to adapt to being a father to so many children- with some Ortensia struggles on the side as well!

Better yet- give me a movie where Oswald comes back from Universal like it was a vacation or a gig that didn't work out- have it to where he is struggling to fit back in after being gone for so long- heck, you can even have it to where Ortensia and Ozzie meet AFTER he come back so it can be an introduction to those two for younger audiences! Give us Ozzie!

Not only could Nick be interpreted as gay based on his interactions with Mr. McKee / the elevator scene / the way he talks about Gatsby being more romantic than how he talks about Jordan, but I think Fitzgerald did this intentionally. F. Scott Fitzgerald has equated homosexuality with both emotional weakness and a lack of self control. These are traits that are very present in Nick throughout the book, and as such, it would make sense for Fitzgerald to also imply Nick’s homosexuality as an extension of these traits. In this essay I will

Hey OP, I need a link to that essay

So, I'm a part of a Minecraft SMP, but some people were BABIES and wanted a new season because the apocalypse mod had a ton of Zombies-which you could deal with perfectly well if you had weapons, which we gave and even let them stay in a BUNKER for two weeks before sending them on their way (It was permanently/undefined at first, but people kept lying and stealing)- so we're starting again with lifesteal and a furniture mod.

This is the perfect opportunity for me to talk about how much I LOVE the unrequited love trope- but we're not talking about the person in love in this case- we're talking about the person who doesn't love them back.

I love having a person who doesn't know how to love or is uninterested in love and even tells people that they aren't looking. And then have someone fall in love with them. Because it gives me a chance to do what I've been wanting to do for years- get angry. Shout that they told them that they didn't see anyone like that- that it's unfair to put the expectations of love on them, that they aren't entitled to a yes.

Or alternatively, have a person say yes out of obligation and stay in a relationship out of fear of hurting the other person. And DO NOT slowly fall in love. Rather, have the relationship either die a slow and painful death or end in a fit of rage. I LOVE UNREQUITED LOVE THAT IS NEVER REQUITED. And I love it when they HUMANIZE the person who doesn't requite it. Give them reasons, give them motivations as to why they want to stay single or why they don't want to experience love.

I think you know where my character is going in this new season- and I cannot be more excited.

Emergency (sort of ?) commissions

Another reason we have commissions open besides car stuff: gender affirming care. We’re a transgender teenager in Texas and we don’t know how much longer we have until we can’t access care anymore. Being in a right-wing state has affected us terribly. Our parents ignore us, and we won’t have money until at least late June, and it might be too late by then. Stop the discrimination of transgender youth. -DD

Okay, you need to make sure you play this game at some point. Maybe not today or anything, because you’ll need about thirty minutes and a serious willingness to understand how it works, but - it’s so worth it. It’s basically an answer to our occasional frustration - why do assholes always come out on top? - and the beautiful thing about it is that not only does it explain how that happens, but also how we can change it.

“In the short run, the game defines the players. But in the long run, it’s us players who define the game.”

This is fascinating if you’re into math or sociology or computer programming or all of the above.

Everyone, everywhere, without exception, should play this thing through.

Don’t check just this - check out all of Nicky Case’s work. They’re a brilliant creator and I heavily recommend checking out at least one of their projects.  Their website can be found here.

Parable of the Polygons - an interactive experiment that shows how tiny individual biases can collectively cause segregation on a massive scale.

To Build a Better Ballot - an interactive experiment that shows the alternatives to the voting systems we currently use and how they can be more representative and democratic, along with their faults.

Coming Out Simulator - a short interactive story/novel about coming out, based off of Case’s own experiences. Not one I’ve played myself but still one I can recommend.

Loopy - a very simple but useful tool to show how systems interact with each other and how things can self-propagate.

We Become What We Behold - “ a game about news cycles, vicious cycles, infinite cycles.“ A short five-minute game about news and media. Warnings for violence, blood, death and stress.

OH MY GOD THIS IS FRICKING AMAIZNG WOW WOW WOW WOW YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS YES INTELLECT
