You know what I think is neat about Malevolent? Arthur is blind, even without John, like when he’s in his coma or dumped in the snow storm outside Addison. That’s a nice touch that I really appreciate. Much of the fanfic I’ve read has treated him the same way. There are no magic cures. He doesn’t stop being blind when it’s convenient for the story and even in fics where John has his own body, Arthur seems to mostly stay blind after their separation. It’s a little thing I really appreciate about the podcast and the fan works I’ve seen.

jon and martin, like most all good relationships in fiction, are narrative foils, and my favorite way this expresses itself is in how various fear avatars react to them. fear avatars see jon and say "I have to pulverize him Right fucking now," whereas fear avatars see martin and say "I would let him pulverize me Right fucking now."

They see Jon and go THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM! Then they see Martin and are like This? This is nothing. We can handle this. And then Martin beats their ass. 💀 Works every time. 🔥

They made it impossible for r/blind to be moderated by blind people by blocking the use of 3rd party apps like screen readers from being used on the site

Currently, blind people cannot moderate or use the site

Servers get paid 2.13 an hour. Restaurants expect servers to get at least a 15% tip per table to meet minimum wage. Their livelihoods depend on you tipping. “You know, I can’t help but wonder if you can even hurt me,” Gertrude says, her thick eyebrows furrowing.

Agnes shrugs and doesn’t say anything.

Gertrude huffs. “That was an invitation for you to try, darling,” she says.

Agnes reaches out to touch Gertrude, her hand trembling slightly as she does so. She has a brief moment of hesitation before Gertrude’s own hand darts out and firmly grips it. Agnes stares at her, expecting her to start screaming any moment. She doesn’t.

Gertrude smiles then tugs her closer, keeping their hands intertwined and resting her other hand on Agnes’s hip. “You’re very warm,” she says, matter-of-factly. “But you don’t hurt.”

A tear wells up in Agnes’s eye, then immediately evaporates. “I’ve never really touched someone before,” she says. “My touch kills even other Avatars of the Desolation.”

For the first time, Agnes sees what she thinks might be genuine kindness in Gertrude’s expression. She releases Agnes’s hand and cups her cheek. “The Mother isn’t ready for me to die yet. She tied us together for a reason.”

Agnes leans forward until their lips are barely a breath apart. “What is that reason?”

“I don’t actually know,” Gertrude admits before closing the distance.

Agnes sighs and winds her arms around Gertrude’s waist, burying herself in her first embrace.
