I think part of why I'm so skeeved out by the way people on here treat various words as inherently bad or inherently good is that I paid close attention when everyone was being like here's how to phrase your arguments to appeal to liberals here's how to phrase them to appeal to conservatives and like ultimately I gave up on the idea of trying to change conservatives' minds with rhetoric but along the way I became painfully aware of how easy it is to sell leftist progressive people on deeply reactionary ideas provided you phrase it in vocabulary they consider trustworthy
Anti miscegenation=“don’t fetishize PoC/all white people who date PoC are fetishizing them!/if you date a PoC you’re fetishizing them!
Anti multiculturalism=“cultural appropriation!/if you wear or cook or like anything from a culture different from yours you’re committing cultural genocide!”
Anti secularism/skepticism=“reddit fedora atheists/ugh all atheists are bigoted culturally Christian racist scumbags! Atheists of color and atheists from non-Christian backgrounds don’t exist! Women and people of color are inherently more spiritual then cishet white men!”
Anti intellectualism/education=“Archaeologists don’t want you to know this! Historians hate queer people! Gal pals! Cocaine mummies! The Bering Land Bridge is a racist myth! Here’s a link to a literal young Earth creationist who happens to be Indigenous!”
Anti bodily autonomy= “If you think deadly diseases should be cured or people should have the right to die on their own terms then YOU LITERALLY WANT DISABLED PEOPLE TO DIE YOU NAZI EUGENICIST FASCIST. Here’s a link from a literal Christofascist Catholic website about why MAiD is bad! What do you mean the story is taken out of context and decades old?”
