No, but for real if you are unaware, Russia is full scale invading Ukraine right now. Not just in Donetsk and Luhansk which were the break away regions that Russia recognized as independent. It's in pretty much every major Ukrainian city right now other than Lviv in the far western part of Ukraine.
They're starting by bombing Ukraine's military supplies and then they're going to roll in the tanks. All of this is from the last 30 minutes or so (as of 11:07 pm CST)
If you're wondering what you can do to help, here's a list from Ukraine's Minister of Foreign Affairs of what Western countries can do to help.
Call your representatives, pressure your governments into doing everything they can to help Ukraine. Donate where you can. I will not be including donation links as I cannot verify their authenticity but I'm sure you can find some online.
This is not the 2014 Crimea crisis. This is happening all over Ukraine. I hate to say it, but this really could be war.
I know it doesn't mean much, but my thoughts and prayers are with the people of Ukraine.
This is bad because Kyiv is not very far from the Belarusian border. If Putin moves his troops through Belarus and into Ukraine, they could capture Kyiv swiftly.
Last thing I'm gonna put on this post for tonight because as much as I want to witness history, I still have work tomorrow.
There's a Twitter list that was made featuring reporters on the ground in Ukraine that I have been following for most of my updates. Recommend you check it out for further updates.
This action by Putin absolutely breaks my heart. I am not from Ukraine or Russia. I cannot speak from their perspectives. But from my perspective, as someone who studied the region extensively in university, all of Putin's "justifications" for this are a massive pile of shit but I am not surprised that this is happening. I always knew it was a possibility given the strong East/West divide in Ukraine and how Putin has played puppet master with Ukraine for decades, trying to install pro-Russia puppets in the Ukrainian government multiple times.
I never wanted this to happen though. I had hoped it wouldn't. But here we are. The West needs to stand with Ukraine. If Ukraine falls, others are soon to follow.
My thoughts and prayers are with every Ukrainian tonight.
