Matilda (1996) dir. Danny DeVito
As others have noted in the past, Danny DeVito not only directed Matilda (and played her dad), but he and Rhea Perlman (DeVito’s wife at the time and Matilda’s mum in the movie) basically looked after Mara Wilson because Mara’s mother was in hospital with terminal cancer at the time of filming (She died during post production work, and it wasn’t until years later Mara discovered that Danny had taken an advanced (not quite completed) copy of “Matilda” to the hospital so that her mum could watch it before she passed.)
When Mara mentioned that she was feeling nervous about the dancing to “Little Bitty Pretty One” sequence, it was DeVito’s idea to have the ENTIRE cast and crew join in and dance too (off camera) so she wouldn’t feel self-conscious, apaprently even the craft services folks joined in, and the cameraman shooting the scene did a bit of a shuffle, but not too much because it would mess with the camera shot)

Once again: it ain't over 'til it's over. Wear your mask. Social distance. Avoid large crowds
Yes, the CDC says you don't need a mask anymore when you're vaxxed. But the WHO disagrees. Better safe than sorry
But Biden said you wont catch it if you're vaccinated!!!
Farewell online privacy
What happened?
Trump happened.
just get a VPN?
You can’t just tell people to ‘get a VPN (Virtual Private Network)’. Buying a VPN is like buying a house. It’s very very important. Having no VPN or having a ‘wrong’ one can seriously damage your life. Especially for Americans because their privacy laws are garbage. I am going to try explain why you should get a VPN but bare with me, I am from Germany and my English is far from perfect.
Let’s start with a simple test. Click this link here: https://whatismyipaddress.com/ It will tell your IP adres, your ISP (internet service provider), and your location. The location might not be very accurate, but then again, it’s just a simple website. Imagine what the government can do!
So basically, everyone can find out where you live. But there is more danger. Your ISP. Your ISP logs your every move online and they are required to keep it in case the government wants access to it (or if a 3rd party wants to buy your data (yikes). They have everything. What websites you visit. How long you stay on a website. What you download. Your search terms. European laws are more subtle on this but if you are from the US you are #@*#&, especially because Trump doesn’t support the open internet. It’s scary but maybe in the future you can’t get a job because the recruiter knows your searched on ‘how to deal with depression’ or anythings else that’s supposed to be private because it’s your f*cking right. Or you get a $100k fine because you pirated a movie 15 years ago. You need a VPN. You’re dumb for not using one. but what does a VPN do?
A VPN encrypts all your data so if it were be intercepted no one can ‘crack the code’ and damage your privacy.
Usually being online goes like this (simplified): Your computer —-> ISP (—–> keeps data —–> sells it)
But with a VPN it goes like: Your computer —–> VPN (encrypts data)—–> ISP (ISP can’t see shit)
Furthermore, a VPN hides your IP address and location by giving you another IP address located in Spain for example (you can often choose from a list and change as many times as you want).
Now that you know why you should get a VPN and what is does it is important to educate yourself because people often choose the wrong VPN. VPN providers are also businesses and have to obey the law. If you choose a VPN provider located in the US then you are throwing your money away because the laws in the US shits on your privacy. If the US gov wants the provider to give all their logs they have to obey. The ISP still can’t see what you are doing online and sell your data but the US gov can interfere with your VPN provider so NEVER CHOOSE A PROVIDER LOCATED IN THE US.
I just wanted to make that very clear so my followers don’t buy false security.
There is still more danger! Who says your VPN provider isn’t selling your data? You need to check their logging policy. Do they keep logs? If yes, what for? For how long do they keep them? Tip: Choose a provider who doesn’t keep logs
More about law The US is part of the Five Eyes program (the worst):
The Five Eyes, often abbreviated as FVEY, is an intelligence alliance comprising Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States. These countries are bound by the multilateral UKUSA Agreement, a treaty for joint cooperation in signals intelligence (source)
There is also a Nine Eyes (bit better) and Fourteen Eyes Program (better). You don’t want a VPN provider who is located in one the Five Eyes countries. If you had to choose go for a provider located in a country that’s part of the Fourteen Eyes Program or even better, go for a country that isn’t part of any program!
I know this is a shitty explanation and please pardon my english but now it’s time to do your own research. Take your privacy seriously. Maybe WWIII breaks out and you get killed for liking the ‘wrong’ FB-page.
Go to this website: https://thatoneprivacysite.net/simple-vpn-comparison-chart/
Make sure that your future VPN provider both has green boxes for Privacy Jurisdiction and Privacy Logging.
I recommend ovpn.se and trust.zone. ovpn is located in Sweden so they are part of the 14 Eyes Program and they keep minimal logs. Their business ethics, however, are alright.
Trustzone is located in the Seychelles. No country can interfere and their privacy jurisdiction is the best you can get. The US want your data but needs to get it from Trustzone? The Seychelles will simply give them the finger and wave them goodbye. However, this makes this provider very appealing for people who torrent and criminals because they keep no logs (and that is how it shoud be) Also, there are almost no marketing efforts so this provider is one the cheapest)
Also, often providers such as ExpressVPN are being called ‘The Best’ on websites about VPNs but know that this is just marketing which also makes those provider more expensive (and they too shit on your privacy)
This must be the worst article you have ever read but please, please take your privacy very seriously.
EDIT: I got many people asking me which provider I use. For those who want to know, I use Trust Zone. They offer a free 3-day trial with no strings attached. But still do your own research!
I am also with Trustzone but I think you forgot to explain one of it’s most important features. It protects you when you are using someone else’s Wi-Fi. If you are at Starbucks and you use their Wi-Fi your privacy is at risk. Anyone with ill intentions could steal your information. Especially if you are using an unsecured Wi-Fi hotspot. With a VPN your data gets encrypted so no one can steal it.
Wait, what’s going, on? Did trump destroy internet privacy with a bill or something? Where’s the news? Oh wait, why am I getting visions of Alex Jones and selling water purifiers?
He hasn’t yet but he says he wants to. And if he is serious about it it would be really easy to do. Since all our data is already recorded, as the person above explained.
Trump wants more surveillance of Muslim Americans. This in a country where internet privacy is already close to non-existent.
btw this post only has 11k notes? That’s quite disappointing for something this important.
Don’t reblog this post to save a life. Reblog this to protect an entire family!
@earth-ruins @writing-prompt-s Should I get trustzone for my mobile device?
If you use public Wi-Fi, then yes. Which VPN you use is up to you, amigo. Take @earth-ruins advice. Do your own research first.
@elvesfromthedeep just brought the current situation in the US to my attention (March 30, 2017).

To all my friends in the US, please read this entire post. Making everyone aware of VPNs is going to be my mission. Your privacy matters. Please reblog this post.
Don’t tell me you just wanted to scroll past this. Stop looking at pictures of cats for a moment, okay? Don’t you realize how important this is? This is dangerous! ‘America, the best FREE country in the world’ my ass.
With this new law your ISP can sell your Internet history which could include passwords, usernames, religion, credit card numbers, race and much more to the highest bidder. So here is what I want you to do.
You are going to read the whole thing and before you think ’this is so important. Let me reblog this real quick and go back to admiring cats again-’ NO! Don’t reblog this. Take action first. Then reblog. Sign up for a free trial! Trust.Zone offers one (here). Yes. It might be difficult to set up a VPN for some people. But is that going to stop you from protecting yourself and your family? 30 minutes. 30 minutes is all that it takes. 5 if you know how to install software. The problem with some of you is that you see ‘difficult’ as something negative. I want you to see difficult differently. I need you to push through this stuff. You are going to protect yourself. There is nothing negative about that.
VPNs are fun and costsaving too! A VPN bypasses geographical restrictions so you can access websites you normally can’t or you could start Netflix’s one month free trial over and over again- forever. And it’s legal! (unless you use it to buy weapons etc.,)
Don’t tell yourself that you are too tired and that you will do this tomorrow. Because that isn’t going to happen and you know it. You have to do this right now. You only have to click on it. Don’t let this/shit/life just happen to you. Take yourself seriously. Get a VPN.
Privacy is not a privilege, it’s a fundamental human right
Ok sorry that it’s so freaking long and also sorry for the language, but this is extremely important. Please reblog!
We have a VPN you should get one too
Please read.
Can you get them for your phones?
^ you can. & when you have a subscription you can use it on your phone and computer. no need for separate subs or purchases.
it is absolutely so important for safety. but one of my fave things to do with my vpn is access non-US netflix. I mean other places have all the new good place eps, all the ‘classic’ bggo eps…
IMPORTANT
reblogging so new people can be aware :)
PSA: DON'T REBLOG. BUNCH OF MISINFORMATION RIGHT HERE.. I just wont say where
For artists who have problems with perspective (furniture etc.) in indoor scenes like me - there’s an online programm called roomsketcher where you can design a house/roon and snap pictures of it using different perspectives.
It’s got an almost endless range of furniture, doors, windows, stairs etc and is easy to use. In addition to that, you don’t have to install anything and if you create an account (which is free) you can save and return to your houses.
Examples (all done by me):
Here’s an example for how you can use it
Great find, thanks!
OMG HEAVEN!!
Bless you!!!!
Very nice resource for those looking to improve their perspective, composition, and background rendering skills!
“I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein’s brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops.”
-Stephen Jay Gould.
This quote is great because so was Einstein himself! He never saw himself as a genius, as a mind like no other. He saw himself as a guy who studied alot and he was very dedicated to give that opportunity to others. He also spoke very openly against racism and was one of the few professors that thought black people at the time. Here are some great pictures of him in 1946
Adding onto this: I really recommend Einstein’s short, entry-level essay “Why Socialism?”, found here. It’s ~10 min read and it does a great job of explaining the crux of socialism.
Here are some of his major points:
Please do not ignore one of the bedrock reasons why Einstein identified with black people in America: Einstein was a German Jew. Check those dates. He fled the Nazis.
Hilarious what people will do to support socialism.

How to know you’re talking to a Nazi
Lol, maybe they just wanted to make sure you were using the term correctly... you ding dong
i would legit listen to a whole album of ambient music made like this
And the album has to include the purring and “mow!” Sounds
I could listen to this for hours!
Prison guards: Iroh? Escape? Ha! That weak, senile old man couldn’t escape if we rolled a red carpet to the door!
Iroh alone in his cell:
I cannot be cackling like this in the middle of the night.

I've been smoking weed since i was 16, regular daily use started at 20 and i'm now 32. I had my first joint at the age of 15 that was handed to me by my dad and at the age of between 7-10 i was standing in my dad's attack surrounded by skunk plants. Considering that i'd say i never had a chance of not smoking it but as an adult i can't blame my parents for the continued use. It's been in my life and system for half of my life and that makes me really uncomfortable with myself.
Since lockdown i noticed how much of it i smoked and actually was ashamed of the money i'd spent on it. Half ounces to go along with all the games i was buying just for something to do as i was between jobs when lockdown came. I will say that while i was on it i became a pro chef and have been since 18 and got qualified too. Doing a long shift then coming home to smoke and play games was my life for so long and i struggle with confidence which i feel the weed only magnified.
I'm now on day 8 and the headaches and night sweats are here. Feels like my brain is in a vice and so many thoughts just rushing around as my brain gets back to normal functionality and i wake up absolutely drenched in sweat and when it dries it stinks of weed. My dreams are really vivid and rather unpleasant as through smoking weed i never used to dream as while you are high you don't get rem (rapid eye movement) sleep and weed inhibits the part of your brain that allows you to dream but i wake up feeling exhausted and like i haven't slept. I guess thats because my body is flushing the toxins out and my brain sorting itself out meaning i'm not actually getting rest as the body and mind have more to process as i sleep
When people say "oh it's just a joint" and "it's not addictive" i can tell you thats is pure bullshit. Anything you enjoy doing can become addictive and as far as coming off it it's by far the hardest drug to come off. I've read so many reddit posts and personal accounts online from people who use and were addicted to multiple drugs and they all say the same thing. Weed is the hardest one to come off. Naturally it stays in the system for a month but prolonged use can take up to 3 months to fully clear out of the system. Considering that i can honestly say i don't know what it's like to not have it in my system and i am under no illusions that i have a long and hard road ahead of me.
Handling my emotions and learning to cope without it will be the battle of my lifetime. I grew up without a mother as she was raped by her own brother at the age of 13, kept it to herself then at the age of 17 went into an abusive and toxic relationship with my dad. After having her 3rd child at the age of 24 my mum had a massive mental breakdown leading her to be sectioned and taken away from me at the age of 4. Didn't properly connect with her till i was 28 and due to the years in a psychiatric ward with all the medication she is a shade of her former self but i'm so proud of her for even getting well enough to be able to live independently as alot of people don't make it out of those places and are just gone
My dad was abusive to me as a kid. A slap to the face was a regular thing as a kid. For normal things that kids do like draw on walls. He had broken my nose twice before the age of 17 just through laying his fists into me when he was drunk, coked up or in a bad mood through not having his addictive substances. I was 26 before i stood up to him and hit him back and 28 when i stood up to him verbally.
Point being is i'm worried and scared about how i will process all this emotionally and mentally once i start to get back to normal fuctionality. Certainly going to be sitting there in floods of tears as weed has been a coping mechanism for as long as i can remember
I'm already starting to see some upsides after only 8 days though. Speed of thought and my mind is becoming clearer by the day. I may even start to find some confidence and self esteem somewhere along the way.
Any support would be much appreciated. I know i can do this, i know what to expect and i know it will certainly be worth it
Thanks for listening
My feed is currently exploding with the fact that Biden picked Kamala Harris as his veep. I would like to remind my friends of the following points:
1) She's a cop, and we're allowed to be unhappy. We're allowed to be mad, even.
2) We are not just voting for the Presidency. We are also voting for Ruth Bader Ginsburg's replacement. And a lot of other stuff, but let RBG retire or die secure in the knowledge that doing so will not fuck over this country.
3) "Kamala Harris is a cop and ACAB" and "Kamala Harris's nomination represents a number of important firsts in the field of politics" are both solid takes that do not cancel one another out and in fact coexist because we do not live in a magic Star Wars world where we have just have the Light Side and Dark Side.
4) The immigrants currently being held in cages and doused with weapons-grade disinfectant by our own government will not appreciate the subtleties of our political choices if we elect Trump for a second term through our inaction or dithering. For that matter, the people dying of COVID because Trump gutted the pandemic response team and then mishandled our response to the virus will not appreciate them. Because they're dying or dead. Because we couldn't get our shit together four years ago. My own mother may be one of these people. I'll never know for sure.
You're all adults, and I'm not here to tell you what to do. I will, however, share what I'm going to do: I will vote for Biden and his cop sidekick in November. And then if Trump gets a second term anyway, I'm arming myself and getting my ducks in order to go underground, because my Jewish wife and I are not going into the gas chambers quietly.
This is satire right?
Same energy
Lmao
they’re? just? sitting there ???
it makes it 100% better that i can’t understand her, i feel like i’m hearing what cats hear
Heh, she’s speaking Portuguese! Here’s what she’s saying:
*baby voice* “… and if you have any questions, just ask me! And now… yeah. And now you draw the roots. You draw them all twisted up! Got it? A flower? Now draw it. Did you get it, Luis Roberto? Did you get it, Jurandir? Look. Did you get it? That’s how you draw a flower.”
Luis Roberto and Jurandir are people names (Jurandir is especially a name associated with older men) so it’s extra funny that the cats are named that, heh.
