You guys I just realized that what I’ve always wanted out of werewolf fiction is a story where lycanthropy isn’t a purely human condition

Like this dude wakes up from his wolfbender and his room is full of all these fucking chickens from local farms that he initiated into his pack. They all start clucking and crowing at the moon and when it’s full they all transform into these tiny little weird bipedal wolves with wings.

heck, unless the journalist is reputable and has a track record of good reporting on trans issues, do not speak with them about DIY HRT. seek out your local organisation if you are approached by a journalist.

I obviously can't verify the screenshot, but the guardian is a toilet, and the guidelines for media engagement posted are worth reading.

It's never worth engaging with an interviewer that has malicious intent. There's no good point you can make that they can't simply redact or spend an infinite amount of time figuring out how to spin in a negative. You've almost certainly seen some right wing interviewers who are so inept at this that they make themselves look bad, but even they're not worth the risk talking to. Their base does not care at best, and it'll help them at worst.

if i can add on as a person with psychosis, the "neurotypical people are crazy" sentiment is also ableist in and of itself, because it's once again equating psychosis with incomprehensibility and contributing to our dehumanization. but hey, sane people love to toss the "crazy" label at anything they don't understand so they don't have to acknowledge that everyone has a reason for their behavior.

Today on Donuts and Dogs we encountered a large dog with a muzzle in a group with a few other dogs on the trail. I didn’t initiate anything but the dog came up and rubbed so aggressively affectionately on us that we had to pet him.

I offered that I’ve seen dogs muzzled to prevent them eating rocks as a roundabout question. His mom sighed and said he has to wear it because he eats marijuana.

Not only is it true, it gets worse. The Susan G Komen For The Cure Foundation has actually successfully sued “competing” charities, because (paraphrasing) their “message or branding was infringing.”

You read that correctly: they took money that people had donated to cure cancer, and hired attorneys with it, to sue ANOTHER group of people trying to find a cure for cancer, who, in turn, had to us their donated money to hire their own legal counsel to defend themselves.

Yeah signal boost because not enough people know about this and seriously FUCK SUSAN G. KOMEN THEY ARE THE ACTUAL WORST

It's a little short notice (because I just came up with it!) but although I don't have a table at the Calgary Expo next weekend, I will be there on Saturday to hang around and meet people. I'll have these baggies with cheap samples of my stickers and copies of the zine on the off chance that a fan is there and finds me! I'll have a big OPN button on my backpack.

I’m so tired of every show that takes place in the past (wild west, medieval, pirates etc) ALWAYS having so much sexual violence towards women like writers can cry “oh it’s realism” all you want but it’s very transparent how realism only applies when you want to hurt women on screen. If we’re talking staying realistic, why doesn’t everyone have brown teeth? Or bad skin? Or dying of dysentery? Just admit y'all want an excuse to brutalize women on screen lol

This pisses me off so much. A lot of the time if you mention realism would also involve women having unshaved legs or pits, or bushy eyebrows, or syphilis, the answer is often “well that’s gross, no one wants to read about/see that” and like…. If you think that women being ugly is grotesque, but brutal depictions of rape aren’t, then I don’t really know what to say to you other than stay the fuck away from me.

To add to this: The pirate captains had personal codes (rules) about what was allowed on the ship, and some of them were very clear on the subject of sexual violence
