• the banner is a dumb joke you probably won’t get

remember when shows were allowed to thrive and flourish at their own pace and gradually grow in popularity and in turn that made the people uptop order more of the shows which allowed the crews of those shows to grow and improve the quality of their products over the course of multiple seasons? that was so sick we should bring that back

"A submarine has gone missing" : Oh jeeze, I hope they find those people.

"A submarine visiting the wreck of the titanic has gone missing" : Well, that's a little ghoulish but I can't blame folks for a morbid curiosity, especially at a monument to white man's hubris.

"An experimental cobbled together submarine visiting the wreck of the titanic has gone missing" : Well at this point y'all were just taking your lives into your own hands and also how is 'slapped together submarine' a legal thing that's real.

"An experimental cobbled together submarine full of the absurdly wealthy visiting the wreck of the titanic has gone missing" : Okay now this just feels a little too on point someone has to be joking with me.

i dont think you get it. 1980 was twenty years ago. 1990 was 10 years ago. 2000 was 10 years ago. 2016 was two years ago. 2018 was also two years ago. 2017 was last year. 2014 was four years ago. do you understand me now?????

The online DnD actual play community is a great lesson in what happens when talented creators are allowed to make what they want without the restrictions brought about by network interference - creativity and innovation brought about by a desire for self-improvement by passionate voices.

The two big examples that I'll use to prove this point are Matthew Mercer's Critical Role and Brennan Lee Mulligan's Dimension 20, as they're the big names in the community. When Dimension20 Fantasy High was released in September of 2018, Critical Role was relatively early in The Mighty Nein, and there was a definite improvement in the storytelling of CR as D20 continued, and this improvement drove an improvement in Brennan's storytelling, which drove Matt Mercer etc., etc. until as of now they're releasing their best content to date (Starstruck Odyssey/Neverafter for D20 and Bells Hells for CR). I doubt that this would have happened if the pair had been constrained by trend-chasing corporate execs.

There's also the fact that the stories told are so far outside of the network TV/streaming service norm that they have completely unique feelings to them, especially the anthology-driven storytelling of D20. Stories that take hundreds upon hundreds of hours to experience and short, genre anthology series are, especially after the failure of GoT, almost unheard of, but the freedom that the pair have allows them to pursue these kinds of stories.

The best part of this, though, is that there aren't any hard feelings between CR and D20, and the casts of the two have crossed over so many times that it's essentially one big community, and they actively engage with voices that aren't as well known to foster a sense of diversity and inclusivity with others in the space.

One last thing - both Brennan and Matt have gone out of their way to combat the effects that their shows have had, making it abundantly clear that, as people who essentially make DnD content for a living, their product is far outside what anyone should expect of the DMs at their home games, and as someone who DMs, I really appreciate that fact.

That carrot sounds really good

I’ve spent hours trying to play instruments and this guy just whittles up a carrot and kills it

The notes are so full of extremely salty clarinet players and I love it

I still stand by this statement, dude just drills up a carrot and knocks everyone flat off their socks while simultaneously ensuring that every single clarinet player who hears this is foaming at the mouth and out for his blood. Absolute legend.

ken getting arrested alongside barbie after she punches the guy who smacks her ass presents so many possibilities

  1. ken saw barbie punch the douchebag and was like “LET’S MAKE THIS A PARTY” and joined in on the smackdown
  2. alternatively, the guy’s friends tried to jump in and ken wasn’t having ANY of that
  3. ken saw barbie getting shoved into a big car with bright lights on the top and was like “OH BOY! can i come too?? 😊😊” and just kind of tagged along
  4. alternatively, he realized what was going on and was like “EXCUSE ME OFFICER i too have committed A Crime so please show me to The Jail with my beautiful girlfriend” so they wouldn’t be separated
  5. ken got in trouble for trying to help barbie escape but in his defense no one TOLD him resisting arrest is a crime because no one told him what being arrested or crime is
  6. ken didn’t know who these men showing up to take his girlfriend away were, but he could see she was very upset and excuse?? you cannot take barbie away from ken without her permission??? so long story short, ken punched a cop
  7. ken fully burned something down earlier and the cops were like “two birds one stone” when they came to get barbie
