"You killed a member of your own family, and walked into the void without hesitation,” Dream says, bluntly. “Call it what it is, and perhaps then you can address why you did it.”

so i wrote a thing about dream and lucifer,,,

this is the most bewildering, perplexing reply i’ve ever gotten, i, just can’t stop thinking about it, because, i’m sorry, i just, i literally forgot that the lucifer tv show exists & that the sandman tv show hasn’t hit season of mists (where maze and lucifer make out with tongue in front of dream),,,

...anyway, lucifer and mazikeen are. canonically married after lucifer (2000) and share the same last name and kiss and have sex and lucifer canonically is a pillow princess for her,,,

so

yeah they did get together

#replies#not art#zeromarker#i'm sorry i#i'm not trying to make fun of you for not knowing this is more of a 'you should read the comics they're really good'#because um their relationship is a Huge Dynamic in lucifer (2000) and it really takes a big focus in lucifer (2016)#like to be clear their relationship is NOT healthy until like. late (2016) imo. but like the DYNAMICS are FASCINATING#like. mazikeen genuinely unconditionally loves lucifer and vice versa (tho youd never hear him say that)#and the power dynamic shift from maze being lucifer's servant to#lucifer - actual mf who got himself thrown out of hell for refusing to obey anyone's commands - saying#'command me'#like#ohhhh my god i go WILD for it#anyway one of the comics literally ends with a panel of them kissing. it's so cute.#and one of the front covers is them naked and kissing. so. yeah theyre together pretty sure#also sidenote but i KNOW that its a little disingenuous to refer to them having the same last name as part of their marriage#but i mean. the transfer of the morningstar power happened simultaneously and now they both have it soooooo#i'm valid ok#answers#anyway mazikeen and lucifer being In Love gives me life#this relationship has everything. declarations of war. healing your partner with incredible power. carrying them bridal style.#burning a realm for them. the 'breaking mind control with a kiss' trope. mazikeen making fun of lucifer for liking her secret santa#really just the best bisexual power couple.#for those curious the tv show of Lucifer is basically nothing like the comics and there is roughly 0 overlap of canon things#even big things like who cut off Lucifer's wings

Sandman on Netflix was really good, especially Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer, how do you thing it will be in season 2 which will adapt Season of Mists?

i'm genuinely soooo over the moon abt this series rn listen

like. i wasnt sure what they were going to do with dream country. but oh my god the fact that they released a bonus episode means that season 2 would go DIREC T L Y into season of mists.

one thing i'm enjoying immensely is the ppl who have not read sandman, who don't know what lucifer is abt to do. i am deeply >:) about it

some things that s2 could bring, following season of mists, include

  • delirium and destiny!!!!
  • "i do not want a grape." delivered in tom sturridge's completely serious voice would make me cry of laughter. like the IMMENSE drama of that scene combined with the dialogue. art
  • dream covered in blood and having to emotionally cope with physically injuring lucifer. bonus points if they end up paralleling the bit with morpheus covered in orpheus's blood, of course
  • remiel (bitch) and duma (my beloved)
  • mazikeen and lucifer being in love TM <3
  • "....smart, boss, reaaaal smart," - matthew

i think personally the gault storyline could have been improved slightly by leaving the end of it until after dream comes back from hell, since then the hypocrisy would really hit dream. like imagine. dream goes "we can't change who we are~" and then actively has to confont the fact that that sentiment is actively harmful, for example, to lucifer

but at the same time i understand why they would 1) want to wrap up that plotline, and 2) not make their main character seem like a total bitch right at the end of a season, so, it makes sense

basically s1 is good content plleeeaaasee give me a season 2

HeywI love your art 💕 I was wondering: what is your favorite version of Lucifer, in terms of character design? (Sandman/Sandman TV/Vertigo..)

Avatar

thanks so much!!! :DDc

honestly, lucifer's character design varies so much based on who draws him, not just the comic/adaptation version, imo. i think i did a post like this before actually

in general my favorite versions of lucifer are the ones that emphasize the angel part, and the ones that emphasize the Gender. so i prefer versions of lucifer where his hair is a bit longer, and he's not a Buff Dude. i like when his design is a little more neutral

hence, my favorite versions of lucifer include (not really ordered since i like them for different reasons)

  • lucifer (nirvana). if i were to pick what lucifer looks like irl, i'd pick this version
  • i really like marc hempel's lucifer, from sandman. the little devil horns are cute, and i really really like how he's kind of, small? so many artists draw lucifer as Buff Male, and i appreciate that hempel draws him as. Not that. i could kick him in the shins.
  • lee garbett's lucifer is also very good. the eyelashes / eyeliner are 11/10 and his smirk gives me life. also the crayon thing utterly sends me and i love it so much
  • jill thompson's lucifer. like this is literally perfect. the eyelashes are flawless. also jill thompson's version of morpheus is one of my favorite depictions of him btw
  • gwendoline christie does SUCH an amazing job. like as a gay i think she is very cool and i love the way she's playing the character. the Gender of it all is also so good. i am watching respectfully i am enamored with the emotion she's putting into the character and also the Height is . Excellent. (and that one image in the red robe? oghgghgohgohg)

i'm mehh about other character designs from the lucifer (2000) series and sandman. frankly i really don't like a lot of the sandman design -- he's very Muscled sometimes. and he's just so...Cis Male-Coded in the art, while he's pretty explicitly not either? so i'm not a big fan of most of the lucifer series character art of him.

the covers, on the other hand, can be really lovely. like . the one where he's being carried by death. (for lucifer 2016, the best cover is the one w mazikeen and lucifer having a tender moment)

i'm also of the opinion that tom ellis is fun and cool, but the lucifer tv series really really feels soo different from sandman lucifer, so like, not really the same character? lucifer from wicdiv has a very good design tho -- not the same character but very good vibes nonetheless

i also don't realllyyyy like the lucifer (2018) version -- or rather, i liked him in the beginning w the beard, but later he just felt very. idk, the sharp acrylic nails are a Lot. that being said, i think theres something to be said about the idea of him having to rebuild his entire body while in agony, and what that form looks like because it was built while he was in a very vulnerable, hurt mindset. like, he's sharp and pointed and it fits with the character being harsh and violent in that moment, as a reaction to being imprisoned.

since lucifer is a very metaphysical character, there are some interesting character design bits that stick out to me that are his choices, e.g., his hair color. it seems to me that his hair is a sort of ginger, but that he sometimes alters it to be blond (this can be seen in lucifer #8 p. 19 when he comes back to lux). i don't have much of an explanation for this, but it's an expression of how he presents himself in the human world

his eye color. some artists draw it blue, some draw it gold; i personally like the interpretation that they're more gold when he's emotional & there's some more Power there.

his wings, too. it's clear he has a choice what type of wings to have, since it changes between panels -- i think it's most interesting to analyze when it changes, and what that reflects. for example, his wings become batlike when he and michael are falling into yggdrasil and remain so for a long time -- reflecting his emotional state throughout that part of the series.

anywayyyy there's your way too in-depth discussion of lucifer morningstar's character design. tldr im gay

[ID: a drawing of Crowley and Aziraphale, shown against a dark blue background, holding hands. Crowley is a thin, dark-complexioned demon with short, spiky black hair, and is wearing a black suit and tie. Aziraphale is a chubby, dark-complexioned angel with glasses and medium-length black hair, and is wearing a beige sweater and dark brown pants. Both of them have white wings. Crowley has his hand on his hip and has a confident smile; Aziraphale looks a little more apprehensive but is smiling at Crowley. End ID]

Wait did you make the doctor who comic??? I've been seeing panels around and honestly thought was the Official one as the art style is remarkably similar and stories seem to be the same!!

i’m so flattered, this is super sweet! but no haha :) i did use a couple panels of jodie whittaker as references, cause drawing her face is hard (her mouth is like a bulbasaur; thanks to isabel for teaching me that)

i’m also really curious abt which storylines mine remind you of, ‘cause i actually have only read one doctor who comic :eyes:
