Here's the thing:
It's not polite to tell people to calm down.
It's really not polite for a guy, whether or not they agree with the woman they're talking to, to tell them to calm down.
And it's sure as fuck not polite for someone to talk to an elder that way.
You may think this is a joke. And maybe with some context we likely would have agreed, and laughed with you.
But you didn't provide that initially, and when you did you needlessly heaped condescension on top of it.
To an elder.
There was a time, not so long ago for some of us, when the vocal L and G didn't think the B deserved to be part of the community.
Where we didn't deserve to be queer at all.
This post, sans context, feeds back into that.
So you'll have to excuse us when our knees jerk at seeing this kind of thing return to our community...again, sans context.
Because the purity culture here is strong, and the voices seeking to cast out our Trans and Non-binary siblings get louder every day.
The very last thing we need added to that chorus is hipster bi/pan phobia.
When you have a chance to be kind, choose it.
