The mother of Philando Castile, a black motorist killed by a Minnesota police officer last year, has reached a nearly $3 million settlement in his death, according to an announcement Monday by her attorneys and the Minneapolis suburb that employed the officer. (x)

I guess a  black man’s life costs $3 million dollars today and you can walk free never paying for what you have done. Nothing happened to this cop, who killed Philando  because he “feared for his life” and nothing will ever happen to any cop who kills black people. That’s the way our system works. They even settled this case so quickly because they’re afraid of Philando’s mother, who is a real fighter. I believe in her, i believe she won’t give up until Philando’s murderer ends up behind bars.

This woman right here died a legend. Her name is Wangare Mathai, a Kenyan woman who devoted her life to saving the forests in Kenya from deforestation due to housing demand, charcoal and timber demand. She went against many in power to ensure that our forests remained forests and that for every tree that was cut down, another was planted. She was beaten, she was disrespected, yet she stood firm and protected the forests. Even after her death, she was buried in a casket made of sisal. She is in history books and she is much more important than the words on this picture.
