Tip:

When it comes to stuff like racism, sexism, homophobia, etc, I’ve found it’s usually way better to think to yourself ‘I don’t want to be’ than ‘I’m not’.

I.e. if someone goes ‘that thing you just did is ableist’, instead of going ‘I’m not ableist, I don’t hate disabled people!’ it’s usually a lot better to go ‘I don’t want to be ableist, I should rethink what I’m doing/saying/etc in light of that fact’. Because that shifts your thinking so rather than jumping straight into denial and attempts to defend your character, you’re instead more inclined to look at how your actions could be misrepresenting your intentions. Or whether you’ve overlooked something, been callous, or acted in ignorance.

Good thinkin

It seems like more and more people are finding that while discussing Stonewall and its importance is very valuable it is less then ideal to center the United States of America in all our discussions of queer history.

So I thought it may be helpful then to give people some places to start when looking at queer rights movements globally. This is an incomplete list and is just meant as a place to start but if you are interested here are some people who were revolutionary in countries outside of the United States of America:

Argentina- Carlos Jáuregui

Bangladesh-  Xulhaz Mannan

New Zealand-  Carmen Rupe

South Africa- Simon Tseko Nkoli

Uganda- David Kato

Sierra Leone-  FannyAnn Viola Eddy

If you have any additional stories you want to share feel free!

Happy Pride Month and remember, history is queerer then you think.

Fucked that the gun brandishing human Big Mac couple are now nationally more well known and talked about than the crime that sparked the protest they interrupted in the first place, which was st louis mayor Lyda Krewson doxxing 10 protestors who wrote to her to explain why they supported defunding the police.

This isnt me mad at people mocking those bourgeois goons and their ugly mcmansion this is me worried that Lyda's gonna try to take advantage of the attention being drawn away from her by her feral pig neighbors and just wait out the protests.

I shared this meme on Facebook and immediately my high school history teacher revealed he was a cop apologist and started telling me off for “bashing the country that gave [me] the freedom to post this.”

Reblog to piss off a cop apologist with your freedom to post this.

bro if the gang really got stuck somewhere in the 60s, does this mean that Dave is not only alive and well but also that he hasn’t been deployed to Vietnam yet?

Friendly reminder that fashion rules aren’t real, you can mix as many patterns as you want, your metals don’t have to match, you can wear boots or sneakers with dresses, clothes don’t have gender, trends are fleeting, if you’re comfortable in an outfit then it does fit your body type, every single one of your material possessions will rot into dust someday and so will you, it literally does not matter what cloth you drape your living flesh in, you are going to die and there is so escape. If you feel good in something just put it on, take a deep breath and have some tea or something.
