Fatal Aristotle

for as long as i can remember,

i’ve been dwelling within a war

one-sided, so gemini and sick;

one-sided, deep red end of a matchstick

you’ll never know what’s beneath the skin

and that eases my brain the most

this whole time, i had a broken, unlocked door

while i blamed the draft on the ghost

i say i’ll never fall victim to the stars

but this taught me my own ways the most

or is it myself basking in your material?

i can smell the chemicals—you must be close

how intense this has been, darling

but now the angel has taken up the throne

and this is where i resign

and i’ll leave you desolate in this vacant home

and it’s finally over.

“Perman Hardy spent ten hours ferrying voters, who may not otherwise have been able to travel from their homes, to the polls, Alabama.com reports.

Most of the people Hardy transported Tuesday were black supporters of Democrat Doug Jones, which contributed to his win in the Black Belt county, where 3,779 people voted for Jones and just 988 voted for Republican Roy Moore, a margin of 79.1 percent to 20.7 percent.

The 59-year-old may have made crucial difference after Democrat Doug Jones’s upset win against Republican, and accused teen molester Roy Moore. Black voters played a decisive role in Jones’s victory in the hotly contested Senate election, with 96 percent of African-Americans voting for Jones, versus the 30 percent of white voters who backed him Tuesday, according to a Washington Post poll.

Hardy is something of an iconic figure in her home county of Lowndes where she’s dedicated the past 25 years of her life to ensuring everyone turns up to vote for every election in Alabama.“

“My first thought was ‘Oh no.’ I wasn’t ready for a kid. Her mother and I were fuck-ups and addicts. I’d just finished seven years in jail for robbery. But everything changed on Valentines Day, 1992. That’s when I found out the baby was going to be a girl. Right away I started buying all this girly stuff. I was excited. I became more civil. I was going to raise my daughter to be kind and respectful to everyone. So I became that person. And she became that person too. Every day I picked her up from school after work. We went to theaters, and museums, and Disney World three different times. Every year on my birthday we dressed up and got tea at the Four Seasons. She ended up being the valedictorian of her class. She went to Duke on a full scholarship. Now she’s in law school at NYU. I look at her and I think that she must have done all this by herself. Because I’m kinda ‘street.’ I grew up in the projects. And she’s gone so much farther than I ever could. So I always thought I had nothing to do with it. But I have friends who tell me that I made a big difference. And I did always teach her to work hard and do her best. And she told me recently, that when she had to write an essay for her SAT, she called it: ‘My Father, My Hero.’”

idk if any of yall are following the montana special election but the republican candidate just body slammed a journalist so a sanders-endorsed candidate that was already beating him greatly in the polls now might be literally guaranteed a win…..in a deeply conservative state

source source this is straight up fascism

greg gianforte and his campaign are now blaming the “aggressive behavior from a liberal journalist” for this incident and are essentially claiming the reporter body slammed himself

i dont mean to grab for attention but could you guys reblog this? the election is TOMORROW and the gop candidate just SENT A JOURNALIST TO THE HOSPITAL. ive been following the race and the majority of the democratic candidates outreach has been through social media and i havent seen any posts about it yet (because it like just happened) and this is….a very big and scary thing

Someone: wow you're really mature for your age
Me: thanks, it's the childhood of abuse and neglect that forced me to grow up and learn how to care for myself and protect myself long before a child should have had to

This is a *huge* deal… there has only been ONE other FBI director in history who was fired by a President, and that was only after months of ethical scandals.

Tbh it’s obvious when people haven’t grown up with younger siblings because they don’t recognise when people are doing things just for a reaction

The majority of my experience with veganism has been having to listen to endless scores of people who can’t sit through an ASPCA commercial and only know the nutrition keywords, ‘protein’ and ‘antioxidant’ and have never thought about where their food comes from or how it is produced try to lecture YOU, the person who has done hours of research and soul-searching and watched hours of footage, why you’re wrong and actually animal agriculture is totally not cruel and absolutely necessary and very much normal and it’s so fucking hard not to be the angry vegan but how do I keep running into these fuckfaces.

House Republicans just passed Trumpcare. So what’s next?

Some of the things this bill does, aside from repealing ObamaCare:

  1. Only covers 5% of people with pre-existing conditions.
  2. Exempts Congress from the worst parts of this bill, though they say they’ll fix that.
  3. Lets insurers once again put annual and lifetime limits on coverage for people with employer plans, effectively ends Medicaid expansion, leaves gaps in benefits, threatens Medicaid home- and community-based services for people with disabilities, and more.

The bill goes on to the Senate, where many are saying it’s dead on arrival. Regardless, we need to send a message to House Republicans that they’ll pay for their “YES” votes by losing their seats. Here’s what you can do:

  1. Use Contacting Congress to find out who represents you in the House.
  2. If your representative voted “YES” [here’s the list]: Use Contacting Congress to call their office and tell them you disapprove of their vote.
  3. Whether your representative voted yes or not, do the following:
  4. Donate to SwingLeft’s campaign to raise funds for Democratic challengers to the 35 swing district Republicans who voted for TrumpCare.
  5. Use Town Hall Project to find out if your representative is holding a town hall during recess. So far, only 6 of the 217 are.
  6. Sign up to volunteer for SwingLeft and/or check out Indivisible Guide for more actions for you to take.

After you’ve done that, you can contact your Senators. Use the same website listed first above (Contacting Congress) to find your two Senators. Give them a call, show up at their town halls, and donate to their Democratic opponents if they indicate that they’ll vote for TrumpCare.

The only way we’re going to take down this bill is if we keep the pressure on the GOP and let them know that voting for it will result in them losing their seats.

  1. Find out if you’re registered to vote. If not, find out how to.
  2. Here are some answers to some questions you might have about registering.
  3. Student voters: This is for you.
  4. What to bring with you to the polls.
  5. Click here for more voting information, and to find out who’s going to be on your next ballot.

Special Elections coming up:

Most other midterms are November 6th, 2018. Get ready.
