Re: Kentucky anti-trans law
I was born & raised in Kentucky and I have defended myself and "our people" for decades. However, this law is disgusting and deserves nothing but shame. Not only does it go out of the way to maintain ignorance but it is harmful to other humans. This isn't the Kentucky I know and love. The same people cheering this are the same ones who had empathy for Naomi Judd last year and that makes no sense. Helping people means actually helping them not being selective. Shame on Kentucky and "my people" including friends and family I still have there. I have always said that we are better than this but I have been proven wrong.
"We should be more like France" people on the left have said since I can remember. Well, they may get their wish soon. And we, the ones in the middle, the majority ridiculed by those on left and right ends, have let them do it. Shame on us.
We have lost sight of what it means to be a united people for the common good. The left has used insidious ideas to erode our language. And we can't be a country if we don't have a language. The right pushes the idea that inter-cultural existence is bad. And we can't be a country if we don't have cultural existence. Both the left & right refuse to do anything about our borders or immigration policy. The reasons stem from opposite sides of the spectrum but both are equally insidious. Dems want the votes because, in their racist minds (yeah I said their racist), when you migrate to the US then you owe them everything. Sound familiar? And the right, it is to keep life unstable here. Both parties and the sheep who follow them are despicable. We won't be a country if we can't secure our borders.
This explains California and the blue sheep who live here.

Google Search Is Quietly Damaging Democracy | WIRED
While I agree in principle with this opinion piece, I'd rather see a more succinct discussion in this age of disinformation. I'm referring to our seemingly extinct ability to critically think. This is what FaceBook, TikTok and most importantly the two major political parties have seized upon.
I would never insinuate I'm politically savvy or even some kind of soothsayer. I was a lifelong Republican until I moved to California in 2006 (hold your applause lefties). Long story short, California doesn't have an open primary. 16 years later and the Democrats have only convinced me they are as bad, if not worse, than Republicans. This is my example of critical thinking. I'm leaving a lot of context out but I wanted to get my point out without a 2+ paragraph tangent. This is still social media and no one reads more than a few sentences anyway. This is why Twitter is both super smart and super evil at the same time.
My point is if you truly seek information that will be accurate, it takes extra clicks. That's a reflection on humanity though. We take something awesome and useful then twist it to make it as difficult to use as possible.
I have lived in California for over 16 years now. The dream is exactly that, a dream. What once was probably a promising state of what could be is now a doldrum of what used to be. The endless taxing is driving away the ones who can afford to leave while the rest of us are stuck. Once a haven for progressivism now is a mecca of the status quo or more succinctly, NIMBYISM.
The current governor, Gavin Newsom, does nothing to solve the issues of this state. But you only have to look at the burned remains of towns, the multiple homeless encampments, and the sad chaos of San Francisco to realize that he cares about one thing, himself. We already elected a self aggrandizing and selfish human being in 2016, I really hope we don't make the same mistake twice.
Karens will never understand this and not because they're stupid. They just don't care about anyone, not even themselves. 🫣
Reminder: Robert Reich said the current record inflation would be over last year.
Hmm...
Fuck, this is so true about me. 🫣
Just when you think the Republican party could not be any more of a joke.....they do this. How anyone could be proud or hopeful as a member of a major party is beyond me. We are smarter than this or I used to think so anyway.
Ah yes, the "California dream."
This. And many white people still won't get it.

Georgia GOP Senate candidate Herschel Walker questions evolution : NPR
NPR is so odd sometimes. On one hand, they are refreshing because they tend to not be Trump obsessed like most news media these days. Then they make a completely biased story like this..... because Trump. I also don't appreciate mentioning mental health casually while full on insinuating Walker is violent towards women.
I want Trump to go away too. Why is it so difficult to not mention him here? And also why bring up Walker's mental health struggles at the same time as his past behavior with his wife. Then just leave the mental health part out while bringing up more alleged violent behavior. This is why we have a mental health stigma. Herschel Walker has had some problems with his behavior around women, that part is very clear though.
Do better NPR.

If he is the embodiment of libertarian values, then I'm not as libertarian as I thought. This guy, Jesse Powell, sounds like a complete tool to me who is trying to be all things for everyone in crypto. While it's obvious to anyone with half a brain cell, even though Powell is likely way smarter than me, he loses credibility by towing a company man mindset. That is not a libertarian trait.
This is not the time to try and claim the moral high ground.
