thinkin bout how in that one episode bones goes off on spock and tells him how he’ll never know anything about love and how good and bad it can be and then in tmp when jim and spock hold hands in front of bones he’s just SO SHOCKED because he was SO wrong

look look look even if you don’t think spock is in love with kirk (even though he totally is), spock definitely LOVES kirk and i think bones knew that but he didn’t know the EXTENT of it until him and jim were slutting it up in sickbay

spock wasn’t really responding to treatment but sure as hell when jim got there, he tried his best to stay awake

and then spock lets jim hold spocks hand with BOTH of jims hands right in front of dr chapel and bones and whoever the fuck else was in sickbay

bones looks back on how many times spock has risked his life and career for jim and realizes that YES spock has in fact experienced all the things love can drive a man to do. he’s experienced the ecstasies and the miseries. he’s broken plenty of fucking rules. he’s done the impossible (or highly improbable). he’s taken chances and he’s failed. he’s taken chances and won.

love is sure as hell written in spocks book and it’s spelled “James T. Kirk”
