The way tomarry has the best dynamics if we ignore tom brutally murdering harry's parents and everyone he holds dear. (Ok that sounded insane but hear me out)
- they're the only two known parseltongue speakers. (they would be FREAKS in bed)
- tom has a piece of his soul inside harry. he marked harry as his equal.
- they're both incredibly powerful in a "i understand you best" kinda way
- ENEMIES TO LOVERS
- literally made for each other. harry grounds tom and makes him a better person, while tom brings out the naughty (dark) and unhinged side of harry
- tom values his life the most but he would die for harry. harry values his moral very much, choosing to rarely use dark spells or ones that could other people. but he would kill for tom.
- THE SLYTHERIN HARRY AND TIME TRAVEL AU OMFG
- possessive tom riddle+not an idiot who can protect himself harry>>>
- harry putting tom in his place (as he should)

fanfiction is kind of incredible if you think about it. it's like i love this fictional character/relationship so much that i wrote a story that is also a love letter that is also a thesis about it.

okay but consider tom writing this into his diary after time travel au harry (tt!harry) meets tom for the first time, and tom cant get tt!harry out of his mind.
adding onto that, tt!harry is the master of death, who traveled back to 1940s after learning about the Light’s betrayal with all their manipulation and debauchery. So tt!harry turns to more gray or dark magic to learn more about magic, and not the stuff taught at hogwarts.
when tom and tt!harry meets, tom senses the power radiating from tt!harry and is interested in him. but he finds tt!harry to be annoying with his attitude for “righteousness” which tt!harry hasn’t flush out because that was how he was nurtured pre-time traveling and post-dursleys. after fate kept making the two unintentionally bump into each other in the hallways to class (ravenclaw harry and slytherin tom), they kept having a fight over their beliefs.
tom, who hadn’t been intellectually stimulated, challenged, becomes more and more interested in tt!harry. they managed to reach a middle ground, and tt!harry proposes to remain in correspondence. with how much tom thinks of tt!harry, it feels more possessive and obsessive because tt!harry was one of the first, if not the only, interesting person tom finds. hence the poem.

self explanatory, tom’s ceaseless and obsessive thoughts of tt!harry because thats the only thing on his mind. tt!harry keeps popping in his dreams, thoughts, and so on..

hunger to understand who tt!harry is, and how hes so magically powerful. hunger for power, for respect, trust and so much more from tt!harry
“i’d write to the point of suffocation”
because of how much tt!harry occupies his mind, tom feels like he’d be able to suffocate just by writing to him, of him
“i’d write myself into nervous breakdowns”
because tom doesn’t understand what he’s feeling. and because he doesn’t understand, it feels almost like a weakness, something he shouldn’t have, because he doesn’t believe that he is weak. it’s almost revolting. ergo, nervous breakdowns about not understanding what he’s feeling for or towards tt!harry
“manuscripts spiraling out like tentacles into abysmal nothing.”
um…. well i guess you could argue that those writings he’s talking about could almost become manuscripts with how detailed and complex it is.. and with how much is being written, it could almost amount to nothing to someone like tom, who does the see the value of it, or a third party

pretty self explanatory too. he’s so overwhelmed and occupied (mentally) by tt!harry that he could talk more about him, a lot more than he should for being someone of his caliber (the king of the slytherin court and heir of slytherin, a dark lord in the making)

Normally, I just reblog this kind of thing with a note like, “not only do I read/write fanfic, I have an over-20 child who does the same.” But.
Who da hell do you think manages the Archive of Our Own? Who created it; who does the coding; who WENT TO CONGRESS three times to argue for our constitutionally-protected right to show Kirk boinking Spock?
Hint: it wasn’t people under 20.
Who do you think makes the content on AO3? Sure, lots of teens… but lots and lots and LOTS of not-teens. The OTW′s been around for almost 10 years - the people who put up the first content sure as hell weren’t 10 and under at the time. (Or is there the assumption that the teenagers of 10 years ago wandered away and are no longer participating in fic fandom?)
The more I think about it, the less I understand this kind of question. Do teenagers actually believe the people who manage fic archives like AO3 and fanfiction.net are not involved in fic fandom? That they do coding and deal with complaints and register the domain and all that, but don’t read any of the fic?

I only started reading fanfic when I was 23😇
Fanfiction is just amazing, it’s amazing to read about the same pair falling in love over and over again, it’s amazing to read how other fanfiction writers, other people, pick up on the tiniest things in canon and just roll with it until you are confused when someone points out it didn’t happen that way, because you were so convinced by the beautiful writing of other fans.
I fucking love it, and I started reading and writing it when I was 27. Now three years later I have always at leats 50 tabs in my browser from AO3, and will become giddy when I get my daily update of how many kudos my stories have gotten. And I freaking loveeeee getting comments on them, they make my day.
BEFORE WRITING: Oh, this fic idea is so cute, and it won't take any time at all! WHILE WRITING: Oh...oh, no...I Underestimated this. Again.
