Fantastically Bizarre – The Filmography Of Keiichi Tanaami

Editor: Lydia Rivers Content Warning: Some of the sources linked to in this article may lead to art that is considered Not Safe For Work by common North American standards, and some of the videos you may find of Tanaami’s work include strobes, flashes, audio played backwards, and other neurologically demanding stimuli. Much of that content has eroticism as well. If you wish to view a Safe For…

Seriously,. I have nothing but praise for Borealis and Lydia’s work on this - it’s the type of articles I love to see - daring, playful, and genuinely fascinated with the work of a great artist.

Holy crap, I still have a Tumblr. :0

Sorry if it’s a little cramped- had to make this all fit in ten photos (I normally post to Imgur and have loads of room) . Hope you guys like it….. and again…. sorry Andrew

WOW I CANT BELIEVE HOW MANY PEOPLE LOVE THIS- thank you so much. Since a few questions have been brought up about seeing my comic elsewhere- I’m happy and grateful to finally have a platform to address it.

Andrews Window Shit was first made in September of 2014. I posted it to my Imgur/DeviantArt and it has since traveled the world. It has also been stolen more times than I can count. I never thought anyone would steal someone else’s embarrassing childhood memory, but I guess that’s the world we live in.

I have seen it on 4chan a few dozen times, Imgur (which is hilarious as that’s my original posting place and I never understood their theft when I litterally was a constant member there), 9gag, funnyjunk and so on. Sadly these weren’t people reposting my work- these were people actually claiming it was theirs.

The nice thing about my childhood is it was pretty fucking unique. Because of this, and thanks to helpful people out there, it’s been relatively easy to track my stories through the web. This doesn’t always mean I get them taken down or credit given. More often than not I don’t. When I first posted these, “ristay” was not wellknown- I was a nobody but had created (apparently) some catchy stuff pretty quick. I found out pretty soon how easy it was for others to take my work- so easy because no one really knew me.

The one nice thing about the Internet is everything has a date. Whenever someone pushes me about “Ive seen this before at _____ it’s not yours” I merely ask “what was the date posted” and give them my old ass comic.

This is one of the first times (besides its first appearance on Reddit in 2014) where my comic is trending again and it’s actually under my name- I’m actually getting the credit this time.

I am so thankful for you all for sharing this. Not just because it feels good to have such support but also to finally have my own work in the light again but under its rightful author.

Thank you all a million times.

Papercraft commission of Junna and Nana from Shoujo Kageki Revue Starlight! Their designs were SO much fun to work with - such beautiful costumes! Such cute hair! Such KICKASS WEAPONRY! - and so this one was a blast to make.

A couple of weeks ago, Samantha published a piece in regards to some scaremongering that hit the web, claiming anime makes people transgender. (Feel free to roll your eyes, here)

In a thoughtful longread, she explains that anime didn’t make her trans. Rather, it was through anime that she found her way back from the brink of suicide several years ago.

I'm out.

So, it looks like Tumblr completely ruined things here. I didn't use this service much, but I liked having a spot to goof off. But, well, a good number of reblogs of mine were flagged.

Screw this.

I'm off to Twitter, feel free to follow me there.

In Super Mario World, pressing Left and Right simultaneously while on Lakitu’s cloud allows Mario to pass through solid objects. Unfortunately, due to the design of the D-Pad on the official SNES controller, doing so is not possible without either breaking the D-Pad or using a third-party controller that replaces the D-Pad with four separate buttons. @staff Give us a blocking system that works. Take down the porn bots, the white supremacist blogs and the child porn. Give us a reporting system that actually has some oversight. There are so many things you could do.

But instead we’re just gonna say nipples are bad and trans* content is NSFW, right?

This.

Real talk, though, because it needs to be said: as much as we all joke that porn was the only good thing this place had left, the reality is that it being the only place where one could regularly engage with and promote sexual content being gone is really not understanding at all what makes this place special. I mean we all joke about “horny on main” and all that, but the reality is that for a lot of the LGTBQ+ community, particularly younger members still discovering themselves and members in extremely homophobic environments where most media sites were banned (but Tumblr wasn’t even considered important enough to be), this was a bastion of information and self-expression. For a lot of artists too, this was a great place to come and post NSFW work and get traction that became Patreon pages that became honest jobs. The problem with “family friendly” social media is that more often than not, the ones hit  the most by the whole family friendly nonsense are marginalized groups that have no vehicles to express themselves. Stuff like YouTube consistently bans or flags simple content featuring something as innocuous as two men kissing as “adult” content and makes it hard for LGBTQ+ content creators to compete with their non-queer peers for a lot of those reasons. The ultimate problem isn’t even that banning of NSFW content, it’s the general mess surrounding it and unintended consequences to these groups. For MONTHS Tumblr has had a huge problem with porn spam bots and outright child pornography, and for MONTHS the majority of the userbase has been in general consensus that both of these things needed to stop. Tumblr did NOTHING. Absolutely nothing. When Apple finally removed their app from the store, SPECIFICALLY because of the child pornography, Tumblr decided to do what any rich corporation owning a social media site with zero understanding of what makes it popular would do, and decided that the best course of action was to eat itself like an Ouroboros. Rather than admit that they have done an absolutely shit job at keeping pedophiles off this website and rather than hiring the necessary staff to carefully moderate content, they decided to loose a poorly programmed bot that literally deleted perfectly SFW blogs with thousands of followers, and rather than properly handling moderation, they decided that it was best to simply go the lazy route and block anything even remotely NSFW. They run this site in the worst way possible, and I don’t understand how @support or @staff or their completely oblivious “CEO” plans to keep this sinking ship alive.

the reality is that for a lot of the LGTBQ+ community, particularly younger members still discovering themselves and members in extremely homophobic environments where most media sites were banned (but Tumblr wasn’t even considered important enough to be), this was a bastion of information and self-expression.

In the data of Super Princess Peach, many unused test rooms can be found. These can be accessed by modifying the game’s code. One of these rooms changes how Princess Peach looks and sounds. When she is standing still, she is invisible; when moving, she becomes a collection of glitched graphics. All her sound effects are replaced with Toad and Mario voices. This was possibly a room that tested out a power-up that was removed from the finished game, with its graphics and sound effects later overwritten, resulting in the glitched appearance. Super Mario Odyssey, like the vast majority of 3D video games, displays low-polygon models for certain features of the environment when the camera is far enough away to conserve processing power. When the camera gets closer, the model is replaced with a high-resolution model. However, these are usually chosen to resemble each other as much as possible from a distance, which includes being the same color. In New Donk City, some objects are a different color from a distance than they are close-up; the most striking example being the building shown in this footage. When Mario crosses a certain threshold in the Mayor Pauline Commemorative Park, the building’s windows drastically change color.
