Can you explain Y "people" in CBR R upset over Storm questioning Polaris in issue 4 page 10 (or 20)? IIRC, Storm doesn't have the ability of magnetism nor can she sense magnetism like Polaris and Magneto can. I know electricity and magnetism are related forces but Storm is weather, not electricity (clearly you guys knew that). Polaris is Magneto's daughter so it makes more sense for her 2 lecture Storm, since she linked with her dad b4. Polaris is the 1 with the ability of magnetism. Am I right?

TBH, my explanation is that people get upset no matter what you do. Trying to please people is a fool’s errand that I have given up on. People are not a hive mind (and they also love to bitch) so no matter what you do, SOMEONE is gonna be unhappy. I’ve just had to learn to let it go.

Avatar

Yes, I agree! You’re absolutely right! I’ll take your advise. I just hate the fact that “they” think Storm can do everything lol the logic of their argument lol. I blame “them” for making Storm too overrated.

BTW, I love the book. You guys are doing amazing. I truly can’t wait to see what’s going on. So excited! I have nothing negative to say.

LMAO. I know what you mean. You can’t trust these people from CBR. They don’t follow canon and they post unconnected panels. The fact that they are trying to say Storm should’ve detected Magneto and not Polaris is beyond trolling.. LMAO. They are comparing Vindicator energy with Magneto… someone that has nothing to do with the magnetic field itself. Vindicator is not magnetic. Storm stating she can find him in the air is because Vindicator leaves a disruption in the air. This panel doesn’t prove anything about her ability to locate or sense Magneto. Polaris can and so does Magneto. I mean, they’re both magnetic… if people don’t know that they’re stupid. This mean Polaris is the only one who can sense her father since Vindicator is completely different.

Also, the bubble question it’s crystal clear that it’s pointing directly to Storm’s mouth LMAO.

CBR is a bad place to be. The site is nothing but trash. Polaris is a mutant who can charge her electric energy and store it for better use. A charger capacitor stores electric energy, and an inductor with current flowing through it stores magnetic energy. Her human body stores appreciable electric energy, because it conducts electricity too well (blood is a salt solution) to hold electric charge. Also, her electrical currents in her body are huge, so her appreciable magnetic energy is generated. Polaris doesn’t have to do anything, she can just sense it. It’s part of her abilities. Magneto leaving a magnetic trace of energy behind has nothing to do with weather. Vindicator is another story. I agree, it’s beyond trolling. Storm can’t do any of this.

Exactly, they don’t know Polaris’s powers. so due to pure ignorance, they choose to devalue her. She has shown some of the greatest feats in Marvel. You would think just based on pure respect for the character, they would stop hating but no, they choose to show the hate, envy, and disrespect other characters. So, let’s go there. Keep reading…

Storm can never be compared to Polaris, NEVER. All she can do is fly and make it rain…bitch is useless. If I need my lawn watered or a kite rescued from a tree, I’ll call her. Otherwise she’s useless. Comparing Storm with Polaris as if Storm has the same ability like those of Polaris and Magneto is more than envious. What they trying to say is that Storm is basically A COPY OF POLARIS SINCE SHE WAS CREATED FIRST IN 1968 and STORM IN 1975. They should be comparing Storm with Crystalia Amaquelin if they don’t like the idea that Cuckrum did made Storm lookalike a copy of another icon character.

I bet what ever those trolls said on those CBR thread are 30% of that post was out of context, 10% was not canon, and the last 60% was biased ranting. She can only manipulate weather, nothing beyond that. She controls the weather, in short. However, she doesn’t control the parts. For example, she can summon lightning. She can’t control electricity. She can summon the rain, but she’s not a hydrokinetic. She can lower the temperature or make it snow, but she can’t control ice. And that’s because Storm is limited by range, her own strength, and the limits of the environment. She cannot make weather where it can’t exist. No rainstorms in space, for example. Some people thought they understand the logic in storm’s power. In the comic, they’re all overpowered and make their power ridiculously non-logical! Storm’s power links to Earth environment so she should only be able to use weather element up to the limit that the Earth has to offer, period. She doesn’t control all forms of energy… only Crystalia Amaquelin can. The fact that she’s an elemental who can control the four elements while Storm is not a normal elemental because she only manipulate the weather (not fire, Earth, water like Crystal, because she can control all the forms of energy). People just need to stop speculating. They go around taking the powers of other characters they envy and adding it to Storm. *SMFH* I never understood why those trolls trying to compared her with all the characters they see and say “she can do pretty much anything they can”. ????? Again, that’s bullshit.

Sometime I think Storm’s “power” doesn’t come naturally. In Earth environment, wind cannot travel like 600 miles per hour or the pressure of air can never ever be able to deflect bullet. Even a thick cube of plastic couldn’t even stop a bullet from penetrating deep inside so what make you think increase air pressure can help????? Creating storm in one people’s lung? Bullshit! The environment in the lung is not favorable for any weather condition to form but Crystal was able to do that. Storm “can” suck out air from one’s lung by using vortex AROUND the person, NOT by controlling the air molecules to get out. Only telekinesis can do that. Storm’s power is not controlling the molecules themselves but spiritually link to the Earth!!! How can a tornadoes form like instantly? It takes time! Should not overcome the physic laws! Hurricane force winds whip around at 100 to 250 miles per hour, on estimate. That’s nature. But Storm can summon winds, while underground, to ferry a bomb through miles of twisting, turning tunnels to the surface in just a few seconds, without being able to see precisely where she’s guiding it? Bullshit.

I never understood Storm and I’m such a huge fan. All the other X-Men, to me at least, seemed to have “internalized” powers… something that is within themselves or derives from within themselves (like Polaris, Jean, etc). But Storm? She “manipulate the weather”. To me, that’s not an innate mutant ability, that’s witchcraft or some form of sorcery. I could never intellectually justify it (obviously, most of them are rather outrageous, but my suspension of disbelief has always been sorely tested with her). it does raise some questions.

I agree. It does raise some questions. I have something for those downgrading Magneto’s daughter while pretending to be her fans.

Say no more!

I can’t lol

Uncanny X-Men 1&2

Welcome to a new era. I know I’m a little late (plus working overtime didn’t give me time to participate in the community) but I thought I shouldn’t spoil those events too soon. Now I think it’s the time, since we’re 3 days away from #3.

Oh my. Where should I begin. First I’d like to thanks to @1979semifinalist, Rosenberg, and Brisson (and @marvelentertainment) for allowing Lorna to participate in the new (reboot) Uncanny X-Men. Honestly, I had high expectations for her future. I never doubted her inclusion in this book. So, thanks all of you once again.

Uncanny X-Men #1

How wonderful to see her in the introduction page. She’s among some of the original X-Men :)

In this scenario, Nightcrawler seems to teleport Lorna into the scene first and then X-23 (well, I’m going by the BAMF). Lorna was shown devastating the MLF upon her arrival. She came to (and did) save the day.

Yes, she right away grabbed a piece of the X-Jet with her magnetic power and hurled it toward the MLF. Buying time in order to do this…

“Wait…are you a “big kid”?” lol. What an amazing team-up. Lorna hurling Laura at the enemies was EPIC. I couldn’t get over this, I mean, what a dramatic entrance into combat. I was so excited to not only see this combo but to see Lorna and Laura interacting as well. Both had a good sense of humor. The Magnetic Fastball Special was intriguing. I’m sure some of you know the Fastball Special is a maneuver in which Colossus launches Wolverine at an enemy. Two males and now two females. I can gladly say that Lorna and Laura are the first two females to display the Fastball Special.

Uncanny X-Men #2

I know what you thinking, lol.

Here they are in their locker room. They are getting ready for a mission. Again, I know what you’re thinking but in my perspective, they were already dressed up before entering the locker room. As we can see they are suiting up and waiting for Jean’s command. That’s my perspective but if you want an actual answer, you gotta get it from the writers. I just don’t think they were all in the same room getting dressed. It would be silly knowing Lorna wouldn’t do that :)

Something abnormal was happening and so Jean gathers the X-Men and divided them into two teams, A and B, to go into two different missions. Lorna was in Team-B with Nightcrawler, Jubilee, Psylocke, Storm, and Cannonball. What a badass squad.

One thing I’d like to point out is Lorna’s force-fields. I’m trying to remember when was the last time she was using a force-field just like her father. I know her magnetic field manipulation allows her to create force-fields, like an electrical energy form surrounding her. Lorna was shown with many different force-fields but I just don’t remember the bubble one. Nevertheless, it’s nice to see Lorna creating force-fields, which are probably stronger than those of her father. Don’t forget Lorna also shares a link to the earth’s electromagnetic field, drawing strength from it and being granted a form of immortality. You get the picture :)

Nightcrawler teleported the squad closer to the scene and what they discovered was unexpected.

Multiple Man was multiplying himself into thousands for some reason. It’s seem as soon as they arrived at the scene, Lorna took over from that moment on (as we can see Storm was basically mute and wasn’t even bothering to ask what’s going on; only telling Madrox what he’s doing) as she was the only one who knows Madrox better than anyone else. Polaris and Madrox knew each other for a very long time and were teammates in various incarnations. Jamie loves Lorna, he likes Lorna (I can assure you this in another post).

Suddenly and unexpectedly Multiple Man started acting out where the squad knew what they needed to do without any command.

How wonderful to see Lorna interacting with more characters. This time with Psylocke, where Polaris was commanding her to plant what Betsy stated in Madrox’s mind. That’s what I call a leader despite Jean not giving her the co-leadership (or Storm) card. At least I can give her the credit for stepping up like one. They needed to find the real Madrox in order to stop the madness. I literally agree with Cannonball. How did Storm expect them to find the real Madrox when there are thousands of them? Then she had a second thought. I thought that was silly.

In the end, all the X-Men were defeated, but I’m sure it won’t be for long :)

I can only imagine Cannonball saying they were “overwhelming” due to the fact that there were so many of Madrox. It seems the more they defeat them, the more they come. The fact that there were thousands of them was impossible to defeat or find the real Madrox. Now that’s being overwhelmed, I guess?

I was very happy to see Polaris as part of the X-Men team in Uncanny 1&2. From the locker room scene where everyone was suiting up together, to the battles they faced together, it was nice to see her as an X-Man. I especially liked the callback to Colossus/Wolverine Fastball move with her and X-23. I’m not quite sure what is going on with Multiple Man, but where did he get all these new powers? It’s as if he absorbed the abilities of… multiple… other mutants and now has their powers. Including Toad’s tongue, for some reason. Whatever it is, however he got them, he (they) was too much for the collective might of the team in issue #2. Even as Bishop, Jean, X-23, et. all were successfully battling dinosaurs, Madrox took down Polaris, Storm, and the rest. A feat which shouldn’t be possible for Jamie. From the panels of #3 that are already out there, tho, his victory will be short-lived, and I’m sure that Lorna will be PISSED :)

I have nothing against Polaris. I’m glad she’s in it.

Just want to thank you guys for including Polaris! Despite being one of the firsts to join after the O5, she sadly gets often overlooked. It's really great seeing her among her fellow X-Men again. :D

Avatar

Of course. I think we were all interested in her, but I will take full credit for forcing it. :D

Polaris is not really “overlooked”. She has been in many different books and affiliations. She’s not always with the xmen because she’s also an xfactor or Starjammers or you name it. There are times when she’s with her father. She just not kissing xmen arse like the rest of them do. Besides, she just want to live a normal live. But when they need help she’s there. She was spectacular in xmen blue where she ended up leading a team of her own for the fifth times?

There are a lot of things I could say about Blue. I’m refraining from most of them.

Lorna actually is overlooked. Constantly. For decades.

She was in limbo for two years from 2015 to 2017.

Before 2015, she wasn’t in any X-Men events for nearly a decade.

On Blue, she didn’t get to interact with teen Jean or teen Iceman at all - the two characters she had the best connection with when she joined the O5 back when she was created.

When Marvel celebrated the X-Men franchise’s 50th anniversary in 2013, Lorna wasn’t on any of the covers that were made to be combined. Other characters were, including Havok, but not Lorna.

And then her father. Full confirmation that Magneto is her father took a decade. Austen gave issues in the 00s where Lorna said she found lab results proving it, but then Marvel did nothing for about 10 years before finally letting Magneto confirm it Five Miles South of the Universe.

It took 43 years for Lorna to get her origin story told when other characters get theirs in less than a year. It took 45 years for Lorna to lead a team of her own - not simply fill in for a leader that’s missing. She didn’t get her first video game playable appearance until 2013.

The above are all great steps forward for her, and good on Marvel, but how long it took for them to happen compared to other characters can’t really be ignored.

Also, “wanting to live a normal life” was something Marvel writers at the time put on her as an excuse for benching her while they focused on other characters they wanted to write more. And it was a bad one, because they could’ve said she was off fighting for mutant rights or helping people elsewhere.

Lorna’s history of use as a character has strayed heavily from her roots and original intent. She was introduced as the badass second female X-Men member to join. She got reduced to minor supporting character to be used to promote the stories of everyone except her. Hence why it took 43 years for Marvel to finally tell her origin story.

And that’s all I have to say at the moment.

There are a lot you can say about blue? Like, leading a team? Interacting with her father like the twins never had? getting character developments? beating malice and not seeing the repeat of the same shit over and over of Polaris being possessed like you want her to in order to downplay her with marvel this and that? There is a scene where she told marvel girl and jimmy to go help the other xmen and another one where she was teaching angel and jimmy. Please be specific. just because you don’t see them interacting on panel doesn’t mean that nothing can happen off panel. xmen blue was awesome and better than gold. cullen bunn did amazing with her, who even had plans for her to run her own school. blue, gold, red all cancelled because of uncanny. and there she is, in uncanny.

How is Polaris overlooked by your assumption? For decades? Where? What year? When was her last time she was in limbo for “decades” ?

Limbo for 2 years? Is that actually not counting the alternative where she was pretty much in all of the secret wars? Deadpool? Even a cameo in Uncanny men? i don’t see the limbo you’re talking about.

because she wasn’t in an xmen event doesn’t means she was in limbo for over a “decade”. She wasn’t an xmen because she was an xfactor, starjammers, acolytes, her time in genosha, magneto dark seduction, her time in space and I can go on and on. she comes and goes in the x tittles. to say she was not an xman because she was doing other things it’s dummy.

IIRC, marvel celebration anniversary didn’t include all the xmen. polaris was not the only one. so what ever your point is, is trivial. But she was included in the xfactor anniversary cover.

polaris came along as magneto’s daughter in her very first appearance. i don’t think you can call this a retcon except that she wasn’t when she was. her first confirmation was in 431. She was mostly his daughter in all the alternate universes. It was pretty obvious she was his daughter since her first appearance.

Not all characters get their origins. she happened to be lucky to get hers and that was more than a decade ago. It did not took her 45 years to lead a team. she was a leader back in the 90s when she was in xfactor. Havok and polaris were both leaders. but in reality, Havok would do what ever Polaris says. so I think you are exaggerating a little too much. Games are trivial because not all xmen made it to the game. now she’s in more than one game.

That’s because people like you never voted for her when it comes for voting characters. you can’t blame marvel for that. if you voted for kitty, wolverine, storm, etc and acting like you like a specific character while voting for others, it’s not marvel’s fault. it’s your fault.

marvel didn’t use an excuse to put polaris to lead a normal life. I think the best solution is, to kill her and wipe her out of the marvel universe for good if they didn’t want her around. don’t you think? don’t you think that would be a better solution for marvel to eliminate characters simply for what you’re complaining about? i don’t see why bothering on giving her everything or keeping her alive since 1968 or even bother to bring her back into the xmen. i don’t think polaris was “forced” to join the crew in uncanny giving that she’s on the gifted and she’s part of the xmen. otherwise, marvel wouldn’t let them use her. but really, why she still active? when they had many chances to kill her off? Instead they go on killing those “popular” characters like Jean, Cyclops, wolverine, Xavier, Banshee, Multiple man, etc. Now i can say cyclops being in limbo for decades. Marvel just killed cable and bloodstorm not too long ago. and i believe they killed storm too at some point in the past. And yet, they kept Polaris alive, just to have her on the shelve, right? joining many affiliations, having her in the x team on and off, etc. There is a reason why marvel doesn’t kill her. they rather kill those “A” list characters then B list. go figure.

i think you’re going mad because she in the gifted played by emma dumont as a badass character. better than those who played on the big screen. storm couldn’t even shine on the big screen let alone as a badass character. polaris is now gaining a lot of fans around the world. she is shining better than any other characters imo. i see why you’re worry.

she’s now back in the xmen for the hundred times, why are you complaining instead of being happy and grateful that she still active as an xman? she always an xmen and xfactor. she’s probably the only character from the marvel industry who went through many different writes that truly enjoyed writing her. The time she’s being around, was truly amazing to see her strive for the past 50 years. you can’t compare a character like polaris because she is unique. How about that? she’s in the xmen, in the gifted, she’s going to be in the prisonerx and who knows what else. so, why do you worry? or blabbing about?

And that’s all i have to say for now.
