#in the hands of almost any other actor #this would collapse the entire artifice of the show & the contrivance of one actress playing about a dozen clones #the integrity of each performance would break down#you’d be left with the sense that the clones are interchangeable women with only superficial differences in appearance & mannerism #but somehow she’s able to layer these performances one over another like skins #there’s a tangible difference between tatiana maslany as alison hendri x#and tatiana maslany as sarah manning as alison hendrix #each of the clones is so whole and unique and distinct that the performances are collectively an argument: #these human beings aren’t interchangeable #they share DNA but environment and nurture and epigenetics have made them completely singular individuals #[they aren’t even all women] #you can’t generalise them; there’s no single trait they all share #except that they’re human beings not biological objects to be exploited#her work is such a tour de force sometimes it just leaves you breathless
