i will never forgive the internet for what it did to the word “mansplain”
mansplaining is a very specific phenomonon wherein a man who is NOT qualified to talk about a topic assumed he knows better than other people who ARE qualified, purely because of sexism.
sharing a fun fact you learned isnt mansplaining. infodumping isnt mansplaining. adding your relevant personal experience to a discussion isn’t mansplaining, (as long as you remain respectful of others’ experiences as well, but that’s always true). correcting someone who is objectively wrong and spreading misinformation REALLY isn’t mansplaining.
stop telling men that all of their interests and attempts at socializing are insulting and unwanted, your gender essentialism is showing.
people in my REAL LIFE i have had to convince i like to hear them talk, really:
people who AREN’T self-conscious about this:
this is making the rounds again and the amount of people in the notes accusing me of being a man is hilarious. like no i just dont like being mean to people and alienating my friends, sorry.
I would like to add men of colour talking about their oppression.
I got 1 of those cursed sonic ice creams when I was in NY so it inspired me to draw this.
whatever i literally dont care 😎 <- cares so much that it feels like my organs are tearing themselves apart in my chest
we're apparently opposites lol. i dont know ANY women currently. i keep trying to meet more and they keep turning out to be trans men who hadn't figured it out yet. most recent guy came out to me YESTERDAY which is the 7th in the last three months. im cis and straight i dont know why this keeps happening. my dating life is in shambles but i have SO MANY new buddies im teaching how to shave and torrent movies
not to be weird but i think i'm obsessed with you
Remember the land of waves arc when zabuza was telling his backstory and kakashi was like the village hidden in the mist is BARBARIC they make kids kill other kids in order to become ninja. We would never do that. Then the next arc was like alright kids who’s ready to kill some other kids in order to become ninjas.

The LGBTQ community has seen controversy regarding acceptance of different groups (bisexual and transgender individuals have sometimes been marginalized by the larger community), but the term LGBT has been a positive symbol of inclusion and reflects the embrace of different identities and that we’re stronger together and need each other. While there are differences, we all face many of the same challenges from broader society.
In the 1960′s, in wider society the meaning of the word gay transitioned from ‘happy’ or ‘carefree’ to predominantly mean ‘homosexual’ as they adopted the word as was used by homosexual men, except that society also used it as an umbrella term that meant anyone who wasn’t cisgender or heterosexual. The wider queer community embraced the word ‘gay’ as a mark of pride.
The modern fight for queer rights is considered to have begun with The Stonewall Riots in 1969 and was called the Gay Liberation Movement and the Gay Rights Movement.
The acronym GLB surfaced around this time to also include Lesbian and Bisexual people who felt “gay” wasn’t inclusive of their identities.
Early in the gay rights movement, gay men were largely the ones running the show and there was a focus on men’s issues. Lesbians were unhappy that gay men dominated the leadership and ignored their needs and the feminist fight. As a result, lesbians tended to focus their attention on the Women’s Rights Movement which was happening at the same time. This dominance by gay men was seen as yet one more example of patriarchy and sexism.
In the 1970′s, sexism and homophobia existed in more virulent forms and those biases against lesbians also made it hard for them to find their voices within women’s liberation movements. Betty Friedan, the founder of the National Organization for Women (NOW), commented that lesbians were a “lavender menace” that threatened the political efficacy of the organization and of feminism and many women felt including lesbians was a detriment.
In the 80s and 90s, a huge portion of gay men were suffering from AIDS while the lesbian community was largely unaffected. Lesbians helped gay men with medical care and were a massive part of the activism surrounding the gay community and AIDS. This willingness to support gay men in their time of need sparked a closer, more supportive relationship between both groups, and the gay community became more receptive to feminist ideals and goals.
Approaching the 1990′s it was clear that GLB referred to sexual identity and wasn’t inclusive of gender identity and T should be added, especially since trans activist have long been at the forefront of the community’s fight for rights and acceptance, from Stonewall onward. Some argued that T should not be added, but many gay, lesbian and bisexual people pointed out that they also transgress established gender norms and therefore the GLB acronym should include gender identities and they pushed to include T in the acronym.
GLBT became LGBT as a way to honor the tremendous work the lesbian community did during the AIDS crisis.
Towards the end of the 1990s and into the 2000s, movements took place to add additional letters to the acronym to recognize Intersex, Asexual, Aromantic, Agender, and others. As the acronym grew to LGBTIQ, LGBTQIA, LGBTQIAA, many complained this was becoming unwieldy and started using a ‘+’ to show LGBT aren’t the only identities in the community and this became more common, whether as LGBT+ or LGBTQ+.
In the 2010′s, the process of reclaiming the word “queer” that began in the 1980′s was largely accomplished. In the 2020′s the LGBTQ+ acronym is used less often as Queer is becoming the more common term to represent the community.

you dont have to be a parent to understand the horror of walking into a room to discover that the baby crawled out of his crib and onto that pottery wheel you forgot to turn off, and while the baby is spinning around and around, the dog is sitting there all calm, like a person, gently using his paws to fashion the babys soft cartilage head into something a little more modern. it might be the classic tale of bad parenting, but lets see where the dog is going with this
This post is from 2013. It has less than 100 notes. Together we can revive this work of art that tragically ahead of its time. We’re ready for it now
Naruto and Sasuke don’t have “sun-moon” symbolism, it’s the full moon and crescent moon. The full moon represents Ashura and the Senju, that’s why Itachi massacred the Uchiha Clan during the full moon, it symbolizes how he chose the village controlled by the Senju legacy over his family. It also why it appears in the background the night Kakashi tells Sasuke to stop trying to avenge his family and pointlessly focus on his teammates, linking it again to Konoha and to enduring genocide without complaint. The crescent moon symbolizes Indra and the Uchiha Clan, that’s why Sasuke leaves to join Orochimaru under a crecent moon, because he choose his family and getting them justice.
So it’s not surprising that Naruto agrees to cover up the Uchiha genocide and doesn’t do anything to change the system for the better. The Uzumaki crest on his back is directly paralleled to the full moon, he’s the living embodiment of the Senju legacy of injustice, genocide and nepotism.
Someone asked me if I could add the pictures because they didn’t remember that the moon was in a different phase when Sasuke left, so I decided to add them all as a bonus.
Here we have the full moon when Sasuke got tied to the tree by Kakashi:
After the full moon a leaf falls on Sasuke’s hands, he remembers Itachi and decides to crush it. The symbolism is not very subtle in hindsight.
It’s crescent moon when Sasuke leaves the village, which means that at least three weeks passed between the conversations with Kakashi and the Sound Four and him deciding to join Orochimaru:
The iconic image of Itachi with the full moon in the background after he genocided his family for Konoha:
In the flashbacks, Indra appears with the crescent moon and Ashura with the full moon, because if it was the sun, the sky wouldn’t be black:
And finally the Uzumaki’s crest being paralleled with the full moon and Ashura, and by proxy to Konoha, Itachi and the Uchiha’s genocide:
On top of all that, Madara, Obito and Kaguya were planning on using the full moon to basically feed everyone alive to a tree to achieve world peace and is the main political conflict of the whole series.
