Re-design of Vanessa (Vanny option)!
Where being vanny leaves more marks than usual and/or already has vitiligo and heterochromia before corruption. (Which the virus did weird bio fucky wucky and made the patches too)
The ears are a “headband” ie. hologram that appears sometimes
I think that even if it was PQ ending she’d suffer from depression and dissociation :/
I honestly really love this design,
Base model credit to @mellon_soup (?) on patreon
Glitchtrap if he slayed while possessing a 20 something year old girl or whatever
I'm gonna be thinking about this all day
If you deadname someone in the death note it kills you
In one of the Death Note live action movies (I think it was Light Up the New World), a man changes his name after harboring guilt about past crimes and trying to atone (not even answering to that name). He's only killed after his new name gets put in the book, since he shed his old name.
Man wasn't trans, but if the logic applied to him, logic should apply to trans people too!
This rule implies that birth names are not necessarily the names given to you at birth.
That means you can change your name or consider yourself to have a new name and the death note recognizes it.
Death Note is an ally.
Diversity win! this Death Note kills trans people but doesn’t deadname them!
One of my favorite tricks for designing alien species/cultures is to take a real animal with an interesting lifecycle and think about what that biology would translate to if they had human intelligence
Example: silk moths as a base species
Because the moths themselves don’t eat and only live long enough to mate and then starve to death, the entire culture is made up of children and adolescents. The older children raise the younger ones, with families being made up of hatchmates from different years.
Because molts and eventual transformation into a short lived adult happen on a set schedule, families have a cycle— when your oldest set of siblings cocoon to become adults, you wait at the mating grounds and try to adopt their newborns after they pass. If that fails, you take any ‘orphans’ you can find.
Because death and birth are nearly simultaneous, they have a religion based around reincarnation, and infants with markings similar to a parent are often given their name. Claiming the offspring of a beloved family member is vitally important, because you want to be able to protect their soul and keep them close.
Because it’s hard to track the offspring of your male family members, there are sometimes major fights when a family sees an infant with familiar markings in another family’s clutch.
Between mating seasons, their culture is extremely food-oriented, because everyone is growing and silkworms eat nigh constantly. They spend most of their lives outdoors but sleep and shelter from bad weather in large family dwellings made from wood and the remains of the silk cocoons of prior generations.
everyone is really vibing with the silkworm aliens I see
If I drove a bulldozer through an apple store and the cops just shoved me in a closet and pumped me full of DMT for 8 hours id literally just do it again the second they let me out
This is like the best admission I've ever heard that prison sentences are about fucked up torture rather than keeping dangerous people out of society.
There's literally an entire Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode about how effed up this concept is.
As the Sci-Fi writer in question here, do NOT invent the Torment Nexus. Seriously. No.
Hello! I was wondering if you could explain what Crowley meant by “…no nightingales.” Aziraphale seemed to not be happy to have Crowley point that out.
I think it must have something to do with the song that played in his car, and I remember the narrator mentioned a nightingale singing, but that no one heard it, at the end of season 1 as well. However I didn’t understand why it was mentioned by Crowley right at that moment, nor at the end of season 1 actually.
If it won’t spoil anything coming in future would you mind explaining that line please? (Ps. I am completely smitten with this show and the characters. powerful television, bravo.) Thank you
The song is from Season 1. It was playing in the Ritz when they dined:
And the lyrics of the song may help to explain things.
Here's YouTube...
neil! I always see pictures of you wearing a black shirt, black skinny jeans, and a black overcoat. is this your daily attire? why? (not judging, just curious)
My daily attire is a bright red coat, a green tee shirt and yellow trousers. They just show up black in photos.
Ha! I joke with you amusingly.
It is indeed my daily attire. It keeps the elements at bay and gives me a place to put my keys, stops me being arrested on charges of public nudity and so much more.
Sometime in the late 90s, possibly at a book signing or a Comic Book Legal Defence Fund reading, I heard you say
"I love black. Black goes with everything. Well, goes with everything black anyway."
... and I quote it frequently.
Indirana surely must be counted as among the strangest of frogs, as their tadpoles live on land
You are not kidding, they are really, really weird.

That's a real-life Pokémon if ever I saw one.
Thanks for bringing this up!
My world is better for knowing this is a critter that exists.
Y’all have no idea how badly I just want to gush about the esoterics involved in my practice. I’m ready to explode.
I’ll tell you this much: Anyone worth their salt won’t talk about higher-level mystical crap, not because they want to be a pretentious exclusionary jackass, but because they don’t want to frontload you. That’ll screw you up worse than your own mistakes ever could.
I’ve been trying to think of a roadmap though, because this shit’s dope as hell and there’s no reason why a process can’t exist.
Because for lack of best practices, I anticipate y’all would have to gather the same prerequisite knowledge that I needed, and go through processes similar to the one I went through, which was as follows:
First, you need an undying curiosity for learning the secrets of the universe.
Second, you need to learn the basics of different scientific fields. You need to understand the scientific process, know what it’s for, know how to apply it, and understand why its important. Through this, you need to learn that the universe is a great big unknown, and despite this, there’s a solution for everything, and if there isn’t, there will be.
Third, you need to find joy in the act of creative expression. Play will keep you human.
Fourth, you need to seek answers to this question, for yourself: “What happens after we die?”
Fifth, you need to explore a number of different religious/spiritual paradigms and consider (from their perspectives) different ways people think about the world. You need to learn to entertain ideas without accepting them.
Sixth, you need to challenge and deconstruct your preconceived notions of good and evil, on ALL cognitive levels, from your conscious mind to the farthest-flung reaches of your subconscious. You also need to identify and deconstruct magical thinking, and understand that wanting something really badly, or believing in it really really hard, will not make your desires come true. This is a deconstruction of programming and conditioning, and it will be a years’-long process.
Seventh, you need to let yourself be wrong. Let more experienced people challenge your spiritual discernment process, so you can refine your methods, examine your biases, and identify what you may have overlooked. At no point on your journey will you will ever, ever, ever stop being a student, so learn to be an effective one. Additionally, learn to recognize a good teacher from unqualified ones, from predators, and from grifters. (People can and do use spirituality as a way to traffic teens and young adults.) A good teacher will give you effective tools to find the answers, but very little in the way of the answers themselves. Follow is rule of thumb: “If it’s too good to be true, it is.”
Eight, you need to differentiate who you truly are from who you think you are, from who you want to be, from who you think you need to be, from who you pretend to be, from who you were forced to be, from who everyone else says you should be, and from who you’re not. You also need to different what you actually value (as in, the principles you find valuable) from what you think you should value, from what you learned to value to avoid punishment, and from the values you think you need to have in order to be a proper [insert thing here]. Take your time to muster the courage to choose yourself over a narrative of yourself, but take it.
Ninth, you need to answer the call coming from inside the house. You need to go into the labyrinth of the mind and pass through that great dark wall of the unknown. If you don’t have the tools you need to do this safely, find them. But understand the process will not be comfortable.
…
Keep in mind this is illustrative, not comprehensive. Everyone starts from a different point on the map, so the arc of realizations will be different. And unfortunately, I can’t account for all possibilities. I don’t have that data.
The good news is you don’t need to go through all this just to do magic, or to have working relationships with deities and spirits, or to even understand esoteric things. This is just an instance of “Zan’s sad because he wants to infodump and ideate about all the weird esoteric shit, but can’t because he’s new at this and doesn’t want to frontload anyone.”
