The amount of mental gymnastics people are displaying to make Daemons actions ok 💀

It’s truly sickening honestly.

So many people coming out of the woodwork to defend abuse instead of accepting that they were wrong and romanticized a violent predator.

“He was grieving his brother”

“He was angry his brother didn’t trust him with the prophecy”

“He was frustrated with Rhaenyra for her inaction, and wanted to get his point across”

“He was angry Alicent murdered his brother (in his mind)”

All of these statements dance around the subject. They admit he put his hands on her because it’s right in front of their faces. There’s no room to pretend he didn’t do it. So now they’re floundering to make Daemon choking his wife more palatable. Grief, anger, frustration, betrayal. They throw around every strong, negative emotion out there and hope one sticks. They’re throwing blame on Rhaenyra for being too slow to respond, Viserys for not sharing the prophecy, Alicent for killing Viserys in Daemon’s brain (this one is so funny tho). Anyone but the actual perpetrator. They hope that if they make Daemon seem broken down and hurt enough, everyone will agree he was within his right to hurt his wife and leave her gasping for air as she tries to pry his hands off her neck.

But that will not happen. Daemon committed domestic abuse. He strangled his wife. I don’t care about the circumstances. I don’t care if he was sad or angry or annoyed. There is no excuse out there for raising a hand to your partner or strangling them. It’s vile. It’s abuse.

Daemon has always been abusive to women in his life. He killed his first wife. He ignores his daughters. He manipulates his mistress. He grooms his niece. He has always been an abusive, sexist man. Always.

Daemon stans need to accept that they were wrong. Stop excusing abuse. Stop saying it was anyone else’s fault. Stop saying he couldn’t control it because of x feeling. And stop saying he still loves Rhaenyra after choking her. That isn’t love.

And to any young or vulnerable people in this fandom who may be influenced by this fictional discourse, please know. Daemon is not a good partner, and abuse is not love. Hurting someone no matter how angry they are is not love. Grooming is not love. Daemon does not love Rhaenyra. This is an abusive relationship built in years of grooming. Pointblank Period.

So yeah. Daemon is trash and abuser. No excuses.

Ok so Rhaenys gets on Alicent’s case about being “in service to men” and perpetuating male power.

But that entire scene was so hypocritical. Rhaenys lost her chance at having the iron throne and simply accepted it. She didn’t fight for her claim or anything. Instead she flew off to driftmark and lived her life.

Even worse, Rhaenys tried to bring Alicent down for essentially perpetuating the patriarchy by placing her son on the throne. But in the episode prior she perpetuated the patriarchy tenfold by deciding that the boy who is completely unrelated her or her son should take the throne over the daughter of her daughter. A true born heir. If you choose a bastard boy who you know is not related to your marital Velaryon family in any way (and therefore has zero claim to the lands of that family) simply because he is the assumed son of your son, over the daughter of your daughter whom you know for a fact is related to the family who owns the lands…that’s not feminism.

Say what you will about bastardy or whatever. But you can’t claim you’re a girlboss feminist when you pick an unrelated bastard boy to rule over his true born cousin who is a girl. That is perpetuating the patriarchy. That is showing that any man is better than a woman to rule according to you.

The hypocrisy of that scene was astounding. Alicent places her son on the throne over Rhaenyra (for their family’s own safety), and suddenly she’s a victim of patriarchal society (not when she was a child bride being raped tho). But Rhaenys will claim she is rocking the boat by *checks notes* accepting her title of “The Queen Who Never Was” and putting a bastard boy on the seat over her true born granddaughter simply because he is the “son” of her son.

I can't stop thinking about Gwen in ATSV. She mentioned about how she, in every other universe, died when she was loved by spiderman/Peter Parker. Peter B., Noir, Ham, and Peni didn't talk about it, but I can't help but think about how Gwen is in this organization where literally thousands of people were in love with her and she died. When she walked through Neuva York, every Spiderman was tripping over themselves to call out to her specifically and receive a "hey :)" back. Not Spider Jess or Hobie.

And then there's Pavitr and, love him of course, but I wonder how it felt to see him talk about Gayatri. I know it's a joke but how does it feel to see yourself put on this pedestal. You can't help but compare yourself and wonder "did my Peter see me that way? How would I have acted if he did?" To see her dad in Officer Singh. To see herself trapped in a bus, desperately pounding on the window as she dangled above certain death again.

In the original Spiderman India comic, they skipped over Gwen/Gayatri entirely, and instead had Meera Jain. Which I get why they did from a meta perspective, but in universe, how does it feel to know your replacement is out there. Every Spiderman is happy with their MJ, and they think of Gwen fondly, but like.... Gwen is replaceable. She is the first love, but she doesn't get a future. It's a canon event.

The horror of being a fridged woman.

Anyone who watches Barbie and comes out of it thinking that it portrayed all men as stupid completely missed the fact that Ken read 3 books and then overthrew his local government in a matter of hours.

But you know what the most telling thing about you is? It's the little girl you got chained up in the basement.

Books Galbatorix: what the hell

Okay, I kicked off the reread, and I’ve already finished listening to the first ten chapters of Eragon.

The nostalgia hit me like a freight train. I’ve got all these new headcanons and watsonian explanations and I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH MYSELF DAMMIT.

I wasn’t going to do a chapter by chapter reaction, but I gotta spit these out or I’m going to explode.
