One thing that I’ve been annoying everyone who will listen to me is how Dune (2021) has MAJOR year 24 shoujo manga vibes in its solemnity and sumptuousness…I’ll write about my thoughts more eventually but for now I had to do a vintage manga style cover. This style is pretty tricky! I wanted to imitate the look of traditional media with the sort of funky retro watercolor/airbrush look of the various cover art I’d seen by Moto Hagio and Keiko Takemiya.
