44 states, to be exact. Out of 50.
People are always going to hear the opinion and needs of the residents of Los Angeles because they have more voices speaking for them in Congress than almost anyone else in the country.
The electoral college exists to make sure that once in a while, someone has to listen to the 44 states with only a handful of representatives, because the people who live there are still citizens of this country and their opinions and needs matter too.
I don’t think it’s outrageous for those 44 states to ask to be heard just once every four years.
