Nuts and Bolts

@maqqy96 / maqqy96.tumblr.com

Artist, Writer, LMT Mostly I reblog Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Fallout, random artwork, and inspirational stuff.

being sick & miserable objectively sucks, but it has become significantly easier to cope with since learning that “sickness behavior” is a well documented part of the body’s immune response

feeling not only physically but also emotionally like fucking garbage is unfortunately an extremely effective way to force your body to prioritize fighting infection & keeping you alive. i don’t have to like it, but knowing why i get weepy & pathetic when sick does help at least a little

i just found out that this is not common knowledge and am reblogging so more people know

YOUR BODY DOES THIS ON PURPOSE

YOU ARE NOT A BAD PERSON BECAUSE OR "WEAK" WHEN YOU ARE SICK IF YOU CAN"T CARRY ON AS NORMAL

Here's Cinderella, 17th century style! :) This is my second 'historical Disney princess' design. :) It doesn't bear much resemblance to the original design, but I tried to take elements of the original design and imagine how such a gown would look as a 'real' costume. Also, I'm not good at drawing in the Disney style so I didn't even attempt it, LOL.

I chose 1697 as my starting point, as this is when Charles Perrault's version of the tale was published. One reason I like this period is the silhouette, and the 'a la Fontange' hairstyle; it's quite unusual as hairstyles go, and I thought it resembled Disney Cinderella's hair a little bit. :)

As always, thanks so much for looking! :)

it's funny how "press F to pay respects" was such a gigantic meme that it seems to have permanently affected the way we talk online. people use it completely genuinely and unironically. had a bad day? F. died in a videogame? F. I see it constantly in Discord, Twitch and ingame chats. like it's actually being used as common shorthand. when it only gained prominence because of how hilariously stupid this screenshot is

Byzantine mosaics found on the ceiling of the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia in Ravenna, Italy.

The Bright Ages: A New History of Medieval Europe by David M. Perry and Matthew Gabriele starts and ends with a description of this mosaic, in different contexts.

It’s an excellent book, that I would recommend to anyone interested in history!
