I just learned that my medication is out of stock COUNTRYWIDE because America is restricting how much ADHD medication Australia is allowed to make... and they're just flat out ignoring Australia's request to meet to negotiate more.

America's Federal Trade Commission is taking public comments on this exact situation right now.

If you've been affected by the actions of US-based regulation in regards to accessing your ADHD medication, please submit a comment! Even if you're outside of the United States. The fact this has such far-reaching consequences is something that needs to be known!

You have until April 15th, 2024 to submit a comment. Please make your voice heard!

For people who don't understand how the US can stop other countries from making ADHD medication: the active ingredient in most ADHD medication is a form of methamphetamine, which is a highly restricted substance worldwide. There are only 4 factories in the world that produce this active ingredient, located in India, Iran, Norway and the US. The DEA put limits on how much the US factory can produce and those levels are way below the level of demand, so there is not enough of the active ingredient to export to other countries so they can produce their own ADHD medication. This is the root cause of the current ADHD medication shortage as the other factories cannot ramp up supply to meet the demand.

So it's not that America is just ordering other nations not to produce ADHD meds, it's that they are artificially reducing the supply of the ingredients necessary for other nations to produce ADHD meds.

Minor correction: while many of the common ADHD medications are amphetamines, they're not methamphetamine specifically. The main amphetamines used therapeutically are dextroamphetamine (dexedrine and equivalent generics) and levoamphetamine (adderall is a mix of dextro- and levoamphetamines). Methamphetamine is used therapeutically in certain cases of treatment-resistant ADHD and for weight loss that's considered medically necessary, but it's generally considered a last resort because it's neurotoxic at substantially lower doses than most amphetamines.

Finally feel like I can say something coherent, so here goes... I say this without a shred of exaggeration: Akira Toriyama was legitimately one of the most important creative figures of the last 50 years. His work, especially Dragon Ball, has influenced SO much even outside its own medium. Movies, TV, cartoons, comic books, video games, MUSIC... all of it. You can see his fingerprints in so many other works. Even now, artists and writers, voice actors and animators, musicians and game devs are all mourning him and reflecting on the impact he had on their own work. Titans of anime and manga are sharing in this pain. The craziest thing about this though? The humility he had in spite of it. He was always reluctant to be in the spotlight, preferred to keep his head down and just work, never really worried that much about public perception of himself. Part of what makes him such an icon, man. Losing him is losing a piece of our shared history. It's something that resonates deep in the hearts of everyone his work touched. This is just... such a loss. And I can't even begin to imagine what his family is going through right now. Praying for them all. Rest in Peace to a literal Legend, an absolute Icon, and a personal inspiration in more ways than I could ever express properly.

Like the online version of glaze/nightshade requires an account. And last time i checked they arent accepting new accounts because of the high pressure.

Like i make my art on my ipad. My MacBook is from 2014. If i tried to download and run nightshade on my decade old macbook and go throufg 10+ years of artworks i might as well just set it on fire.

Like majority of digital artists doesnt actually have a high end gaming pc setup. It is unrealistic to expect everyone to be able to run such a heavy program just so we can feel somewhat ok with sharing our drawings online. It’s ridiculous. I CAN NOT nightshade or glaze my artworks even if i wanted to.

I have a pretty decent gaming PC, and despite this I had to close ALL the running programs I had running in the background (aka Discord and Opera) to let it shade my art, and the result was honestly quite awful even on the lowest setting.

I have already shared it around, but if you can't run it try Artshield.

It will add a big watermark all over your piece (there's also a check button to be sure it worked). It works best on pieces with a colored background, with white backgrounds or B/W piece it won't always work, but it's worth trying it.

Also, post at the lowest resolution possible (I go with 72dpi, keeping the highest one for clients and Ko-Fi rewards only), maybe add a noise effect too. I always did it but I read a while ago it makes a bit difficult for the A/I to scrape the piece. Not sure if it's still true, but still, worth a shot.

Glaze and Nightshade are great tool, but they're sadly unusable for a lot of people, and I hope they'll find a solution.
