While the masses starved, Mao did nothing.

It’s been a while. Wondering whether I should continue this as a political blog of sorts, even though the URL is a bit outdated.

A note

I’m sorry I’ve been away for so long, but I feel like I should be honest with all of you. I don’t believe in communism anymore; it’s not that I’m against the idea of everybody being equal, it’s more that I’ve seen through the propaganda and lies. It is wrong for me to continue propping up Chairman Mao as a hero, because he was not. He was the definition of a horrible leader and a horrible person, for he cared so little about his own people that when millions were starving and being murdered, he did nothing about it. He encouraged them. He took advantage of young girls, he mentally abused everybody around him, and he enjoyed a life of luxury while most of China was starving. His only accomplishments were unifying China (at what cost?), and rapidly increasing literacy and healthcare. But in the process of doing this, tens of millions died and Mao did not say a word. He was so selfish and egotistical that he introduced campaign after campaign, with the sole goal of obtaining more power.

You’ll say I’m a reactionary. That I’m just a liberal. It’s easier to label than look past the bullshit. It is so disrespectful to those who died under Mao’s rule to prop him up as some sort of role model-- he was a careless dictator, objectively a rapist, and above all, a man who took advantage of a poor society for his own personal gain.

Communism sounds good on paper, but until you actually live under a socialist government, you can’t preach for anything. It sounds nice from the comfy west to long for a socialist government that “looks after everybody”, but you don’t know the paranoia and pessimism that you feel living under a socialist dictatorship. You have virtually no control of your life, and nothing matters except the state’s interests. This is the enslavement of the workers; there is no freedom in this hell.

Communism will never ever work. Every attempt at it has ended in disastrous failure (usually coupled with millions of deaths). A system where the government controls all trade and exchanges is a system that is inefficient and benefits nobody except the central government officials. What is the incentive for one to work in a socialist society? Why would somebody work hard if they know they’re just going to get the same pay as the next lazy person? Why would somebody become a neurosurgeon if they made the same pay as a garbage-truck driver?

Let me make this clear: I’m not advocating for free-market capitalism, either. But I sure as hell won’t continue to advocate for a system where truth is seen as lies and mass-murderers are heroes. I won’t stand for a system where everybody except the top officials lose.

Thanks for reading.
